Do you have battery and/or speedpatch installed and using power kernel v48?

I had such problems and first uninstalled patches, than re-installed CSSU (fortunately at first had 16.5 and when ran reinstall 16.8 was in repos :)

After that installed only dbus-scripts and latest battery patch (the one from thread --> 1.9-7, not the one in repos).

I'm testing this config and had no reboots since yesterday and also very cold when using wifi, gprs or gps (I'm heavy user of eCoach and AGTL :D). I'll wait few more days before reapplying speedpatch as it seems require more tweaking on my device.

Cheers,

Thanks, but in my case I still use v46 because of the backwards compatibility problems within v47 and v48 (ie: bq27200) |:(
About Karam's speedpatch, I would only think on trying it if he did a script with a sequence of tasks that would be measured before applying and after applying the speedpatch (would need to be run 10 times to get the average) and in the end he would show how much improvement has been made (of course, with the same clock). As it has not being shown, I haven't installed it.

Right now it has been working for 10 hours ok, looks like it will keep this way. I know my phone was somewhat stable before because I was able to let it run for almost 3 weeks since the last reboot (that was a randon one, by the way).

I use 250~750oc (with my own energy tweaks, somewhat close to starving until 700+ when my phone needs to go closer to ideal voltages), but right now I'm using stock default, exactly to rule it out. I also have hardware acceleration enabled, if my phone reboots again, I might take a look there (but as I said, it was stable before).

MAYBE it could have been because I was trying to measure the real capacity of my battery, so I was draining it to the end, and the reboots happened in the subsequent recharge, but then a third random reboot unrelated happened while I was thinking that.

I'm still looking at it.

Thanks!

just to add to previous comments, I too havegps problems.prior to the latest cssu no problems, now I sometimes have problems getting a fix, phone sometimes reboots. Only thing that has changed is cssu update

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

my gps took a lot of time to fix too, but then it worked properly. (cssu 16.8 and sygic 10)

BUT i did just one route, not more, so it may not be represantive.

may it be the problem, that the gps was "resetted" so that it had to do the very frst fix which needs more time?

My bet's it is a partial install. Try apt-get update, apt-get upgrade and check error messages, if any. It should help us find out the problem

Nooo, latest update screwed my phone :-(
It looks like my 5 desktops have been compressed to only one! And whatever application I manage to open doesn't have "close" or "taskmanager" buttons any more, so I have to switch the phone off and on again to close them. I can't even make a phone call because the call buttons are not there any more :(
Is it possible to fix this somehow? Maybe by connecting the phone to my PC?
Application manager is completely broken, it just shows a black screen ...

From what I've seen, the difference is that supl.google.com works, while supl.nokia.com does NOT. It's actually interesting, until recently, at least for me, is used to be vice-versa.

@f2thak
Have you managed to get Theme Customizer support "Show app shortcut backgrounds"? I saw a previous post of yours and i was wondering why you were having that problem and I didn't.
Yesterday I updated Theme Customizer to the one in the devel repo and lost the option to make icon backgrounds transparent so I uninstalled it and installed the one in extras instead. I got the option back, maybe you should give it a shot if you haven't fixed your problem. :)

Hm, the latest update of "CSSU features" gave an error message and I edited the hildon transitions.ini to add missing CSSU options. Could that be the problem here? I did a reboot after I edited the transitions.ini and everything worked perfectly well. My broken desktop happened after the last CSSU update (not the feature editor).

When my phone boots and starts showing the desktop I can scroll through my 5 desktops but it looks like the desktop gets redrawn for some reason and everything (shortcuts, ...) from my 5 desktops gets placed in the upper left corner. I can't start x-term with shortcut "ctrl+shift+x" and whatever action I perform, I can't "go back" by clicking the desktop background.

Is it possible to connect my N900 to a Windows PC and open a remote terminal to "do stuff" on the n900, without having to install additional software on my phone?

As of the latest update, when hildon-desktop crashes it gives up on trying to start it, rather than rebooting, without that update, your phone would be in a reboot loop.

You could try sshing in and restoring transitions.ini.

@n900 lover
you could check out this pretty old thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=18078
it just says that what we have been seeing is just a "warning" and not really an "error" and you can ignore it if you want. i'm just ignoring it, too lazy to apply the suggested solution. :)

just to clarify, i've been having that warning long before CSSU 16.

EDIT:
@CSSU Team
just want to report that not everyone's having problems with the CSSU updates. :)
only troubles i had were the ones with fastsms and CSSU features config. both now ok.

That's what I had in mind, but don't I need to have a server running on my N900? Then I'd have to either start it, or even install it, which I can't. I also don't know an IP, ID or anything because I cannot start X-term :(
Is there a development kit for the N900 which would let me access it remotely without going through Maemo? I think my old Android phone could be set up to be accessed by Google development kit ...:confused:

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Latest update and removal of speed patch together with restore of Nokia kernel solved my rebooting issues. After all I think that it was the speed patch that caused problems in the first place, not the CSSU. I did install speed patch day earlier than CSSU. And phone kept rebooting even with the latest update, but right after removal of speed patch and restore of nokia kernel no more reboots.

Many thanks to hard working CSSU Team.

nibbe

btw i didn't install anything new while on 16-16.5 on my device....i just got broken symlinks on my root that no one know what is it & how to delete it here.....
