Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
Can anybody explain how to use portrait wallpapers properly?
how should the images been named and where should I put them and how to I activate it ? |
Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
Thanks for the heads up. I saw the update earlier today and tried applying it, but it told me it needed to be applied with Nokia's PC Suite. From what you are saying I should be glad it didn't work.

This question is probably already answered...so I'm so sorry.
The stable and testing versions have diferences? |
Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
@joerg_rw
Thanks for quick answer, will hold with update. Quote:
Of course I may be wrong here - in such case, please explain difference from technical point of view - i.e. what HAM does differently than FAM, when it comes to CSSU update. /Estel |

AFAIK, the rule of thumb is that person stating something - like You telling us, that we should use HAM, no FAM, for CSSU updates - should backup with arguments, if requested (if not in original post). Instead, You're basically telling me GTFO, using longer sentence. Anyway, if You're not willing to use hard arguments, I'm not going to continue this topic further - I'll check how it develops, and give a note here for others, if I come to conclusion, that FAM indeed does something wrong, while updating CSSU. /Estel |
Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
Well, there's a long record of fapman messing up things, you can find the reports via google if you'd bother to search, I'm not going to do this work for you. HAM code is open, so your claim fapman is better in that regard is plain wrong. And finally CSSU update gets tested under HAM only, not under apt-get and for sure not under fapman, and you know pretty good that "WFM" is not a valid proof for "it doesn't have the potential to cause trouble". Now you can take these statements as whatever you like, I'm not going into a dogfight about philosophy and I'm also not claiming you insulted me by telling I said "GTFO". I'll simply ignore you on this
btw: You: I get confusing results regarding update-able pks, when using fapman. What shall I do? Me : CSSU is meant to get updated via HAM You: That's FUD. Deliver technical reasoning! Me : Sorry, I'm not going to do this. If you think fapman is OK then it's up to you to prove that. You: Duh, did you say "GTFO"? :-( Think about it! /j |
Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
@Estel...
yes i do agree upgrading/installing sfuff to our beloved device using FAM is far more better than HAM...i use it to install/upgrade most of my stuff using it... @joerg_rw... yes you maybe right FAM sometime do messing up thing on our device...it will only do that if you enable.... Code:
autoremove unneded (automatically installed) packagesas for me...if it concerning installing fresh/upgrading stuff than FAM will be my choice....if upgrading stuff than is hidden (all packages in FAM) then x-term will be my best choice cause in x-term we can look closer at the installing log for error/missing/umet while upgrading hidden stuff... in CSSU case...i always use x-term for that...:D :D :D |
Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
is 720p video recording and playing is added by default in this CSSU update or we have to do everything manually ?
|
Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
successfully installed through xterm, so far so good...
|
Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
@all who want CSSU installation to be supported trough FAM - it won't happen. HAM supports functionality focused on firmware updates while FAM and apt-get don't. And it does not make sense CSSU deves/maintainers to test every software out there that could be used to install some packages.
On the other hand I know joerg hates HAM. You can think for a while why then he insist you to use it for the CSSU updates. Maybe then you will stop bloating this thread further with stupid question/requirements. |

it's the same as mine , i just thought that there are differences anyway i'm still having the problem these 2 packages are needed for me by nokia repo to update CSSU maemosec-certman-applet libmaemosec-certan-applet0 ---------- i tried FAM (it has proxy option) and fapt-get update # failed 403 error fatp-get install -d maemosec-certman-applet libmaemosec-certan-applet0 # of course not found :( so can some one drop me these 2 packages ? and i will place them at /var/cache/apt/archives then i will update every thing should go well without nokia repo //EDIT already done thanks for kolos |

for some reason my extras testing,devel and cssu catalogues showed error in loading.I tried again and was happy to see the update.Initially HAM updated every thing.I closed that ,opened X terminal ,and apt-get upgraded.Took battery out for few seconds.Switched on.The first change i noticed is GPS lock was very fast(4 secs) in Modrana.Thanks for the update.
