Hello.
A simple question, how to reinstall CSSU?

I reverted back to vanilla camera before, and now after the last update CSSU Features give me a notice that CSSU is not installed.

Hi is there any way we can lock the n900 orientation into portrait mode only but if the keyboard is opened it would go into landscape and keyboard closed back into portrait. The current orientation applet has two options either locked landscape or auto orientation if we can have third option as lock in portrait that would be awesome! so please guys is that do able?

I suggest to add functionality to CSSU, which is currently included in Outcomming Call Vibro - vibration when call is established and Phone Speaker Switcher - proximity sensor is used to switch between loudspeaker and earpiece. There could be an options in the settings menu to enable/disable these funcionalities.

I tried your link , the #13 comment by thomas perl points towards a rtcom-messaging-ui-portrait package , is this something yet to be created coz I cant find that package. Will this patch be included into CSSU ?

Appreciate the great work you and the rest of the community is doing for an OS abandoned by Nokia.

I tried that patch, copied the css files from that bug report and replaced the ones in my phone. It worked but when a new message comes in, the whole messaging UI blinks which sort of annoys me.. even when on landscape mode, the message thread blinks/flicks when updating. on the defaults messaging ui, the thread just seems to move up then a new message pops up at the bottom.

When was the last CSSU update released?

I haven't seen anything appear in HAM for ages but as I read this thread I get the feeling a new update came out recently...?

Thanks but I prefer the default messaging theme. Although yours look rocking nice. I even tested the conversations modder app, selected the option there to wrap the default messaging theme to portrait but it has the same blink/flick behavior when a new message is received.

can anyone look and see if we could replace the mail for exchange in N900 with this and possibly get multiple exchange account feature available for N900 and also possibly getting the Gmail and Hotmail sync working????

I think you misunderstood what Z-Push is for. It works on the *server* side, replacing Microsoft Exchange as the ActiveSync *server*, and allowing to substitute open source groupware back-ends as the source for mail, contacts, calendars etc. (We use it with Horde, IMP and Kronolith for example).

The magic here is that it is instantly compatible with any mobile phone/tablet that has an ActiveSync client, which is to say almost all (at least all Symbian, Android, Windows, iOS, and yes, even Maemo5...). But it can only do what each client is capable of, in combination with its mail and calendaring software ; and that depends on what the mobile maker chose to implement on its own system.

iOS is probably the most feature-complete at the moment, Android is getting there, Windows is, well, Windows, and of course Maemo support is quite basic. But that is a more a limitation of Modest and Calendar than ActiveSync, and Z-Push can't do anything about that, because it doesn't run on the phone...

One question: How can I have the functionality of the non-CSSU version in which I can have the rotation only on the phone app - to launch the phone with turning the device and having the phone portait while having all the rest vertical?

Locking the CSSU to vertical disables the phones setting, and not locking the CSSU makes everything go ******** all the time.

Hmm, launching the phone app by turning the device to portrait works fine for me with CSSU.

Are you sure that you have Force Rotation disabled in the CSSU settings? If you have that then you don't need to use the vertical orientation lock and the rotation works just like without CSSU, i.e., only apps that supports rotation rotate including the 'open phone app by rotation' function.

Hi, I would like to know if the Community will release a ready-to-flash image with all the tweaks and the new features of the CSSU??? So that it will be easy to flash the OS with the new features directly implemented. Of course if the CSSU is enough stable.

This will only happen when the rest of Maemo 5 is open source cloned.

You can't legally distribute flashable images of Maemo 5 unless you're Nokia because of the closed source, not freely distributable licensed bits.

Yes, Force Rotation is disabled. If I don't have the vertical orientation lock on, things.. happen. The most annoying one is that when a call comes in and the phone is locked (as it almost always is), I can't silence an incoming call because all I see is the portrait call screen forced to the vertical screen where I see the caller image and name, the green button is very wide and the reject call button only shows little from the top. To fix that I have to disable the rotating settings from the phone..

Ahh whatever, I can use the vertical lock and forget about the rotations as I have since the CSSU kinda borked them for me (i.e. long time). The good things that it brings are kinda better than the alternative (Although I don't like the clutter in the new camera-ui so much).

I'm worried that CSSU will spread all over the place and mess up my clean N900..

I guess you could legally distribute a tool that would allow the user to download the image from Nokia, then unpack/repack it with CSSU installed, and the user could flash that image (but not distribute it). Kind of like the way you can "slipstream" service packs into Windows installers.

I've tried uninstall and installed again and its the same. Now I couldn't care if nothing else don't rotate but I really would like my media player to do it just like the video... Help on this would be great thanks..

The mediaplayer is closed source and doesn't support portrait mode properly. Hence the development of the open mediaplayer.

If you use search you can find info about this. Also look here: http://wiki.maemo.org/Portrait_Mode

the bug in camera where it forgets the settings to enable geo-tagging still persists, and now the settings to always turn off the flash is also not saved.

Not sure if its been asked already, but is it possible to fix the touch and hold menu (i forgot the correct term)? Right now you have to touch, hold, and drag your finger to the menu that you want to select but a touch and hold then release would be better. Thanks!

agreeeeee man that would be awesome, we can use swype gestures like in the browser to go in the multitasking view, and the same to go to the homesscreens, and the application launcher.... think about it people, now the n9 won't be launched before 3-4 months, so the n900 still has 3-4 months to live, i have a feeling these are going to be awesome 3-4 months, its what we have to say good bye to the coolest ride we had here, unless u guys think the n9 is a piece of ****, and ur going to boost the n900 so it can smoke the n9 :D

man im never letting go my n900. its so underestimated. i hate how its not supported by nokia any more. such a phone should be supported for years coming.n900 will always be in my heart n wont let it go. its so underrated. when it came out, it came out with a BANG as a new trend and a new PHONE. but it got underrated. whereas n9 is overrated. u have all phones in the market n n9 doesnt have a good chance. nokia really thinks it can compete with the ios and android with a nice device like n9? they shouldve thought out of the box man.its gonna be an epic flop. n900 when came out stood up against every phone. it was unique. n9 is just another phone in this time like your iphones n your htc. i bet android n ios are gonna release super better phones than n9. nokia shoulve supported n900. i wouldnt have cared for an iphone or android or n9 if they supported n900. its still too good to run for a couple of years. I THINK.

The SSU is for smallish bugfixes and smallish new features, not to wholesale replace the UI with something else.
