Problem in installing nitdroid
 

HELLO EVRYONE.
I am having problem in installing nitdroid kernel and in mounting ext3 partition.
Please any one help me.

do the FIRST FIVE and only the first five steps from the manual installation here wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?title=N900-install#Step_1:_Partitioning
and then try the autoinstaller :)

I receive this error with auto-installation

simply install nitdroid installer, if you want nitdroid 0.0.8!!!

first go to xterminal type:
sudo gainroot

apt-get update

apt-get nitdroid-installer

it will do the processing

after it open a new xterminal type:

nitdroid

then type : YES

it will now download nitdroid 0.0.8 and start installing

If any problem comes then tell me

mr sleeping dictionary, u do the first five, so 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 :)
it says in the nitdroid site for autoinstallation, if it hangs on the ext3 partition thing then do the first five steps of the manual install.


mr ebusuhejbi, if youre using a sandisk memory card, that is the problem. sandisk cards cannot be used for nitdroid. a simple google search found that out...

do u have a sandisk memory card? because the problem is common for nitdroid on sandisk cards.

Open xterminal type:

sudo gainroot

umount /dev/mmcblk1p2

tell me do you have a micro sd card in your n900, because if you want to install nitdroid you need atleast 2gb micro sd card in your n900

micro sd is the type of card, sandisk is the brand...

you have to format your micro sd card, then go to xterminal type umount /dev/mmcblk1p2

If again problem comes then open the attachment and install in your n900, It will smoothly update nitdroid installer and without any problem you will be able to install nitdroid

Micro sd is the type of memory card. The brand of the memory card and also the class of card makes a difference with NITdroid. On the card should be a brandname like sandisk, transcend, kingston etc. If you don't see a brandname you have an unbranded micro sd card. These unbranded cards are known to have problems as are sandisk. You are looking for something like this. (see screenshot)
The number 6 surrounded by a crircle is the class of card. This factors in the speed which nitdroid works at (if running from card). There are class 2 (which if you don't see this circle, the card is probably this speed) class 4,6,8 and 10.

Avoid sandisk and unbranded. Also, buy the best class of card you can afford. If you go to the n900 NITdroid forum, you should be able to find info on working and non-working cards. Hope this helps. http://forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?...amp;board=12.0

ive instld nitdroid but its showing no serivice :(
ive switcd of d airplane mode but still "no service"

you should deactivate the airplane mode, and restart you n900

If you want to fix the camera then install the attachment in your n900

open xterminal type:

root

dpkg - i ~/MyDocs/.documents/fcam-drivers_1.0.5-1_armel.deb

gr8 at last you have install nitdroid

just switch off your n900 remove the sim and again put the sim hope this will work lol !!

Gingerbread is the latest Nitdroid build based on, obviously, Android Gingerbread. You will have to download it and install its kernel via few commands in Xterm. Visit this to know more:
