N9 will have dual ARM Cortex A9

It is officially announced (sort of, as good as it gets). The next gen high end Nokia smartphone will have a ST Ericsson U8500 ARM Cortex-A9 (dual 1.2 GHz) and a Mali 400MP GPU.

IMO the N9 will have this spec, but it is not clear if it runs MeeGo or Symbian. There could be several devices though, but it looks like the MeeGo/Harmattan (the original N9) is scrapped altogether, both the original HW and the OS.

while he says Nokia will use the platform there's no mention of when and considering Nokia announced they will release devices with dual core CPU's in 2H 2011 i cant see it being used in N9 or any of Nokia's first Gen MeeGo devices, might have to wait for Nokia world for second wave

I think part of the thing here is that the "first wave" of MeeGo devices aka N9 MeeGo Harmattan is scrapped by the looks of it (if they ever existed other than as plans). They are going directly to ST Ericsson dual Arm MeeGo and Symbian. Besides, who would want anything less, when the dual ARM Cortex A9 is coming in first half of 2011?

And they must all be true! This is the Internet.

So, we now know the N9 will use an ARM Cortex A9, but also have an Atom processor within it. The Atom only powers up when the N9 is docked into, and given additional battery power by, its IBM Meta Pad[1] Palm Foleo[2] Always Innovating Smart Book[3] Motorola Atrix[4]-style netbook shell.

Harmattan is dead; the N9 runs Nokia's proprietary replacement for MeeGo Handset UX on its internal screen. Then, when docked, the N9 launches MeeGo Netbook UX on the netbook screen. That is, until the 10-inch tablet shell is released in Q3 and becomes an option. The forthcoming MeeGo Tablet UX appears there, of course.

Picking up a WeTab for MeeGo project research was the real reason for qgil's "vacation" in Europe around Christmas, after all.

[1] Yeah, keep dreaming, research dudes.
[2] What a stupid product. Kill it!
[3] The what? Oh, who cares?
[4] Coolest. Thing. Evar. Why did no one think of iit before?

That video is pretty old and is no way an official statement. Once again, it is purely speculative of what the "N9" will have.

This source is in no way credible.

My opinion is that there will be many dissapointed who truly believe we will see U8500 or Intel inside the first MeeGo devices.
