Strange thing with this latest iteration - yesterday I cracked my works WEP BTHomeHub in about 5 mins flat - secondary "emergency" router, with their permission of course ;), and that was start to finish, but today, even after 50k ACK's collected with v0.3 it took a good 10 minutes to decrypt the key...... By which time there were over 145k ACK's in the .cap file....

Just one question, how exaclty do i update (dont laugh!)

After putting V0.3 in the MyDocs, Do I just type :
cd /home/user/MyDocs/
tar -xzvf /home/user/MyDocs/faircrack.tar.gz .

And it overwrites V0.2 to V0.3? Or am I beeing really stupid now..

It completely depends on traffic. Sometimes I can get into mine in 7 mins. Sometimes it takes an hour

cd /home/user/MyDocs/FAS/
tar -xzvf /home/user/MyDocs/faircrack.tar.gz .

And remember to install John from the extras-devel repos

Look I'm sorry but I don't know. I'm very new to this sort of thing and as you seem to be the only person with this problem then all I can recommend is to clear your FAS directory, untar again and start it from a clean install.

If that doesn't work then I'm sorry but I can't help. I've tried to replicate your problem but I can't.

I'll look into it if I have time but right now I'm very tired as I was up till 4am getting it to work nicely.

tar -xzvf /home/user/MyDocs/faircrack.tar.gz . <--what is the last dot suppose to do?(stupid question maybe)
I tried untaring with the dot, that didnt work. Then I removed it and that
worked.
I tried to upgrade aircrack-ng from the .deb within the thread but it´s missing package IW.
Anyone who knows what that is?

Just fooling around with this on a testrouter, happy times :D

from aircrack site:

Airmon-ng supports mac80211's interface management features (nl80211) using a tool called iw (not to be confused with iwconfig). iw is called automatically by the airmon-ng script, or you might also call it directly to set up monitor interfaces.

Iw is not part of the aircrack-ng suite.

The "." isn't working because you are already in the MyDocs directory. Basically the "." means "extract in my current directory please".

Here are the commands you need to do (assuming you have created the MyDocs/FAS/ directory)

cd /home/user/MyDocs/FAS/
tar -xzvf /home/user/MyDocs/faircrack.tar.gz .

As for iw, I think you need to download "wireless-tools" or something like that. But whats wrong with installing aircrack-ng from the repos?

is that possible to be happed after installing aircrack-ng 1.1? i'v installed it yesterday at night :S and i get back my old 1
so i should remove john and leafpad and FAS folder ?

I would remove aircrack-ng and reinstall the one from the repos.

Leave John and leafpad installed.

Extract the newest faircrack.tar.gz over the contents of your FAS directory
