There is no actual problem. It's just i've played with this stuff enough. Now i want to uninstall fAircrack (yes, the UI) and all aircrack-ng stuff and what follows it, such as aireplay and so on. And also i want my kernel to be back power42, that's the one i had before installation. Is there a way to uninstall all of it safely without need of reflash and reinstallation of kernel-power. I am not that noob not to understand how to delete deb files. So i can dpkg -r all of those were in a aircrack folder and also remove the faircrack from HAM. But i dunno the way to remove the wl1 kernel, so it would get back to power one. Hope i made myself clear, so You could help me?...

@ Alfred fist go to the application manager and you can delete aircrack,john the ripper, then just delete the FAS folder from your MyDocs folder...now I'm not sure for the kernel but I think you will need to go back to the original one the just reflash the power42 one..hope this helps some..

As far as i know,you may need to install pyqt4 full install from the repository.

1.How can i detect the ssid of a hidden network
2.from my laptop i can see the hidden network.then it asks me the ssid.
3.from f aircrack i dont see where that hidden thing is.
4.can i know the mac of hidden ap from airodump-ng wlan0?

Tnx, so i deleted aircrack-ng 1.1, the one we had to update to, then John The Ripper, macchanger, qwassr (well, it's not related to aircrack, but i don't like it anyway), but an icon of fAircrack didn't disappear, any help?

Ummmm I think I forgot to enable the injection drivers, I thought if there would be no injection then why enable it, my bad :D.
So I should enable the injection drivers + monitor mode in order to receive the handshake?

I'm not sure if it would work this way cos I never had tried it with hidden SSID's but still u can try

$ sudo iwlist wlan0 scan

It will list all networks with all the details, U can check if it displays the mac address of hidden network, worth a try.

If it says can't scan- network down or something like that, maybe you would like to run " $ sudo ifconfig wlan0 up"

and then run the command " $ sudo iwlist wlan0 scan "

@ Alfred,,, use filebox or winscp and go to the following directories..and remove

faircrack.desktop... /usr/share/applications/hildon/
faircrack.png.. /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/hildon/

@ Alfred: Sorry im a bit late, but i see you have had help allready...
you need to flash the power42 kernel back if that is what you want to use, but im not right guy to explain how to do that (it would definitely brick your n900) :)

why do you want to use kernel power42 back anyway????
is it kernel power46 is better than kernel power42???
beside much of the latest apps/tweaks need you to run with kernel power46 on your n900 but why u wanna go back to kernel power42???

So much help from You guys. So in order so solve my "problem" with the kernel i have just clicked Deinstall Kernel blablabla in the menu and then reinstalled kernel power. And i wanted the 42 one because it's in extras, and 46 is in devel, so i am a bit scared of losing all of my stuff even with the new backup app, that's just my opinion. if You can tell me why should i switch to 46, i'll think of it. Thank again for pointing out the folder of png and desktop file. I kinda knew it... but still..

Out of curiosity, how is John the Ripper handling the cracking? In my experience, it needs a wordlist, right? Obviously we don't have huge wordlists on our n900's =P

I captured my home's WPA handshake successfully, but it was draining my battery trying to crack it, so I uploaded it to my quad-core linux desktop to crack it myself, but I realized that I use aircrack-ng with the "-w" to specifiy a wordlist. I suppose my question derives from my ignorance on all of JTR's functions.

I had been using aircrack for a while. Not for anything untoward, but whenever i am somewhere where i see WEP i always say "you know, you should really change from WEP to WPA, its much more secure. Hell i could crack your password in 15mins just with my phone". As expected the person says "No way, go on then".
15 mins later i am always very very smug.

I kind of didn't see the need to install this, but am now glad i have, becuase my 15mins has now become 10 mins lol.

Nope, the point of John is so you don't need massive wordlists. Basically John creates wordlists and pipes them through aircrack in real-time. In this case the "-w" option of aircrack is set as "-" to use the stdtout of the John command as the wordlist.

Oh, I see. :) Much more intelligent way than what I was trying to grasp.

I know this is version 0.3 but some bugs I'd recommend fixing is the buttons for the drivers -- The injection buttons never really say whether I've applied them, or disabled them... "Will it work for injection? . . . Am I now able to get normal battery life back?" You get the picture. I can change some bash shells here and there, but would be no help with GUIs.

hi all,

Ive got a question regarding the (f)aircrack and the N900.

While starting airodump to get a handshake, I can't read anything further then the CH list, so I can't read the things more to the right side of the terminal screen. How can I read the things "outside" my screen?

Yeah, I also noticed that with AP having spaces in the name fAircrack just fails to handle them. I am guessing it has to do with how the name is passed between the programs and that by the time it get's to the next program the space is stripped and of course it cannot be handled since the name is now wrong. Might be worth updating this in the next version.

Hi,

I followed every instruction carefully. I will run it in terminal and will report back.

Edit: When I ran it from terminal, it says Maemo applications must be run with the run-standalone.sh script! QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme. Segmentation fault

Not sure if it had been requested, but adding a button to start rebroadcasting packets (Alternate solution described in http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?...ith_no_clients) would be really nice to crack WEP networks with no clients. Current packet injection method waits till there is an ARP which may take a while. Rebroadcasting always works though.

Actually I think what I would enjoy the most is for the aircrack screen to tell me when it is cracked, instead of disappearing and simply storing the key in the 'keys' folder in the background. i sometimes get air* windows randomly close out during operation and have to restart them, so I sometimes don't know if I successfully cracked something or if in fact the app simply crashed. Again, thanks for the great app and we understand you have a busy life outside of Maemo. :)

I'm working on this. It is a pretty irritating problem.

Are you running as root? Don't.

I would love this but at the moment it is beyond my knowledge. The only method I can think of is to run aircrack from a script and set it to send a dbus signal when finished.

The reason why the windows close is because I cannot work out how to run a command in a new xterm that stays open after the command is completed.

hi everyone! i am trying to crack wep key after enabling "injection" i enabled "monitor mode" then moved to the "access point tab"(wep key is already highlighted)then press "scan" but it does not scan anything!!! any help??

i tried to increase time of interval it scans "10" (while i am 2 meter away from my modem) it does not scan anything?

It will not show anything if there are no WEP networks active. Try scanning for WAP protected networks and see if you find anything there.

I've noticed that here in Norway we have alot of WIFI's named Privat(insert random digits and 3 more letters, ex: "privat5771ete")

And I've found all of these "privat" wifis to be really hard to get an WPA handshake and wont authenticate when I try a WEP network.

After alot of deauthing i finnaly got a WPA handshake.

I also tried my aunts "privat1337wtf" (not real name) and when monitoring the network i disconnected and connected to the network aobut 20 times, and didnt get a WPA handshake.

Anyone else been running into this?

you need to disconnect a connected client not yourself, if you are stuck either read first page or check out

Also, I didnt disconnect myself (the N900) . I disonnected the laptop from the network and reconnected the laptop. But agian thanks, ill read up on the throubleshooting :)

Also the is a space in my SSID yet no space is shown in the gui or scanresults.txt

Any advice?

Can u succusfully crack WPA with the FAircrack gui app? or is other steps needed? Ive installed this lastnight and cracked a WEP Netgear, im at work at the moment and ive ran the scan to get a handshake loaded up laptop and connected a client to my network thats when i get the handshake but thats about it it goes tru all this decoding on another terminal window but how long does that take normally?

So I have added the packet broadcast injection button for WEP as in my experience it works better than waiting for an ARP, especially on networks with no active clients. Would be nice if this would be kept for future releases of fAircrack.
