Hi Everyone

Posting after a long time. Well I have a issue with my phone as it restarts automatically on a daily basis say about 20-30 times. And this is my 2nd N900 and I am facing the same issue as the 1st one.

The only reason I got it replaced was because the 1st one ended up having the same issue since the day I bought it, and the current N900 is having the same issue after updating it to the 20.2010.36-2.004 version. And I really am having a hard time figuring this out.:confused:

I have uninstalled all the apps that I had on the phone also formatted and updated the phone but the issue is just the same.

So please If anyone can help me fix this I would really be grateful.

Have you overclocked your phone or installed any custom kernel ? What's the value of /proc/bootreason after reboot ? Have you tried replacing your microsd card ?

No I have not overclocked my phone. I am a total noob when it comes to that. I did not understand this sorry (What's the value of /proc/bootreason after reboot ?). And I do not have a micro SD card.

Although I have the additional repositories added, but removed them as well and checked the issue is the same.
Also when the phone restarts I get a pop-up at times saying charger disconnected or play-back error, although the phone is in complete standby mode.

Open a terminal and run following commands one by one and copy/paste the output:

cat /proc/bootreason

cat /var/lib/dsme/stats/lifeguard_resets

cat /var/lib/dsme/stats/lifeguard_restarts

While you're at it, it'd be better if you'd show us a list of software you've installed for our further investigation:

(Go to Xterminal)
Then plug the N900 to your PC via USB cable and attach the package.txt here.

which mode do you want me to select once I connect the device to my PC..?? currently it is on PC suite mode.

You need to put a blank space between cat and /proc/bootreason

You would need to connect in USB Host Mode to copy files to/from the device.

Your package list gives whole new meaning to 'total noob'. :D

You've quite a lot of packages from _EXTRAS_ that would cause constant reboot, specifically, advanced-power-*.

I pity the last N900 you replaced, as she got blamed for yours doing.

Well the last N900 did not have anything on it, also when I purchased it and reached home I made my 1st call and it restarted after 20mins though I had like a good 50% battery power available.

It was a Nokia Priority dealer in Bangalore, India.

Yes. They are the only authorized dealers in India that sell just Nokia phones and accessories.

Device with such obvious defect should not pass the QA. I was just wondering if they sold you refurbished one at the beginning. Anyway...get back to your problem. Have you started removing extras stuff one by one to see if the situation improved?

Well I just took a new backup of everything on the device without the apps and device settings. so would you want me to format the device again and just restore the data and check. Also this does not happen constantly at times its on a loop but otherwise its just goes on usually when I am on call or playing music.
And the 1st handset was purchased like a week after it was released here in India, the current device is new box replacement which I received the next day.

Just remove the suspicious packages one by one. Start by the one I mentioned before.

I think my phone is way stable than before now, Just made a few calls as well as received calls and has not restarted yet. Although I will keep it under observation for the next 24hours.
