[MWC] Do you have questions?
Hi everyone!
As I will be attending the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month I want to ask you if you have any questions regarding MeeGo I should ask the companies who are supporting MeeGo. There will be many opportunities for short interviews, so your suggestions are very welcome. Thanks! |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
you could ask them when they want to make meego ready for 3d displays or when nokia want to develop a 3d phone ;)
|
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
Ask Nokia if their next Meego phone wil have support for at least 2 years
</pessimism> |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
Ask Nokia if it will port majority if not all of its Symbian apps to meego. given their QT.
|
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
i dont think that nokia would answer to this question but another question could be: how many smartphones with meego is planned to ship during 2011 by nokia and/or intel
i think the problem with the questions is that we dont know what nokia will show us on the mwc. |

Thanks for your suggestions.
regarding porting the Symbian Apps: I guess that's the task of the developer and not Nokia. |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
another question: is nokia prepared to compete with the iphone 5 or any of the new android phones coming this year?
BTW: i dont like iphone for (many) different reasons, android is a no-go too, but people around me do have an iphone or an galaxy s, and if they see my n900 (my little baby) they are laughing at me (not really laughing, but i think you know what i mean). so the main question would be, will i be able to laugh at them after buying a meego phone? i still hope it ;) |

Some questions: * Does Nokia intend to make its very first MeeGo devices compatible with Intel's AppUpp store as well? * (Please say it is so that) MeeGo will support Ovi services out-of-the-box? |

EDIT: Besides, with all the "will Nokia compete with ABC" talk, the answer is of course. But I think you want to know in advance more speficially what kinds of devices are coming out? :) |

@your questions: good questions! I agree! |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
One question of all us N900 owners what can we expect from meego OS on our phones when they introduce meego 1.2? Will we get Nokia support including a browser using flash 10'1, ovi maps, a media player etc? Or will it just be a basic OS and it will be left to the community to develope apps for it?

Else you may ask them if they can PROVE that they will release a Meego handset 2011... |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
If you see Elop. Please ask him "N9 is a 2011 event. Its 2011! Where is it?"
On a more serious note. Ask nokia why I(or any other user) should go for meego when I have a Android and maemo mobile "phone". What will meego bring to the table that will attract atention? |

I'd like to know more about their plans to claw back some of Android's marketshare in cellphones and TVs, where is the battle ground? And how they plan to bring in commercial developers who might traditionally be wary of developing for open source operating systems. It didnt really happen with N900, so what lessons learned and how they might proceed. I also want to learn more about other devices. I know Intel has a lot of cool ideas going on, from vending machines to kiosks running MeeGo. MeeGo has a promise of a connected future in a connected world of devices, id love to hear about possible next wave of devices and services that Intel or Nokia can bring us. Perhaps more contentious, I don't understand decisions such as to not build touch into the netbook UI or the decision to drop Web Runtime. I'm not sure if these are really things that can be raised or discussed with your guests, just throwing it out there as ideas. I also want to know more about the Intel AppUp store, how it plans to expand and rival with iTunes or the Android market. Finally I'd love to learn more about how Intel and Nokia are going to support developers - especially independent developers like many of us are here - through online resources, meet ups, etc etc. How they plan to foster a community like we have here, and support bloggers and groups such as mobilefridae. |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
When are we getting a Linux OVI Suite?
If you get to speak to a Nokia person tell them that they were stupid to make less devices in 2010. That's how they lost market share. They should have done like the Galaxy S line and released a bunch of different phones with the same internal hardware and minor external tweaks. Tell them I want to see at least 4 Nokia MeeGo phones and a tablet with an electrostatic tactile surface released at the same time. Ask them why they didn't make the N900 the same size as the N800. |

Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
Have them get word to Intel that the AppUp Store is a terrible name - from sounding like something stupid to sounding gross. People will be calling it the UpChuck store, the UckUck store, etc. It will not entice people to buy any product that has access to the AppUp store.
Ovi Store name was a horrible choice also. I don't know how these obviously ludicrous final names make it through market research, but it shows how unattractive the results can be from things that come out of committee. |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
Thanks for all your suggestions!
Please keep in mind that Nokia or Intel unlikely will give me a deep insight in their strategies for the future, at least without NDA. So I guess questions regarding unannounced devices will end up fruitless. I think questions asking about why they've done something the way they did won't be answered either. But there are already plenty of really good questions, thanks again for these - keep them coming! |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
Ask them where Meego Harmatten hackers edition has gone.
|
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
Thanks for all your sugguestions/questions so far.
I hope to get some satisfying answers for you. |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
now, after the capital market day, i think you can imagen what we want you to ask nokia:
WHY???? questions e.g.: - How much money did elop get from steve to do this seriously, i dont understand why all this happens today. This day will make history well known as the "black nokia friday" now the serious questions: - what about the qt-developers who still had develop apps till yesterday? Do nokia really think that they will ever make something for nokia phones again? - what about an european ecosystem? After joining MS all 3 ecosystems are controlled by american companys. man, i feel like one of the pigs in angry birds... |
Re: [MWC] Do you have questions?
Clear that a lot of questions to rise now to Nokia! From my side:
- why to keep Meego then? Symbian is announced to be gradually killed and replaced by WP7. What is the remaining strategy for Meego? A wait-and-see or just-to-please(or respect the agreement with)-Intel or full-launch-in-2012 (no big hope)? And Intel at MWC will be watched now with the remaining hopes. |
