this problem is cause by...
1. virus on your pc....
when you connect your N900 as mass storage mode, a virus will automatic attacks your N900....
re-flash your eMMC will correct this problem but my suggestion you installed a good antivirus on your pc to prevent this problem appearing again....
2. as you connect your N900 as mass storages you didn't remove it properly after using it.....
do not just unplug your N900 just likes that without proper method...
the proper method is...
a. go to my computer
b. select your N900
c. right click on it then choose eject
d. wait until it properly eject then you can disconnected your N900 by unplug it....

hi
the virus part is true. connected it to a different computer and used that antivirus to remove every thing but problem persisted
and i agree abt the disconnecting part, it is possible i could have disconnected with out recieving the all clear

kind of explains the problems
reflashing emmc and will get back to u

thanks a ton

Did you try to check the file system?
You need rootsh from extras repository install for this to work in X-Terminal
Code:

sudo gainroot
umount /dev/mmcblk0p1
fsck -af /dev/mmcblk0p1
mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /home/user/MyDocs

it not the system files that cause this problem but i thinks it a virus....
look at the picture that he has attach in his post....
look carefully at the size of all the files...it all the same size....

now as i recalled it there one virus (have forgotten the names) that always attacks any folder by rename it as and .exe files at the end to the folder...all folder will be rename and will cause the folder to be unreadable....

the only way to fixed this is by installing a very-very good antivirus on his pc..remove all the virus on his pc then reflash his eMMC after....

Re: internal memory major problem

You might be right as i know nothing about windows and its viruses :(
But to be sure, that it s not simply a corrupt file system, which, to be honest, is quite common on not cleanly unmounted (removed) fat32 file systems on the internal MyDocs partition this easy file system check does not harm and will, if successful, prevent unnecessary flashing.

Re: internal memory major problem

This is not a virus, but a memory system that has been damaged by a forced reboot/unmount.

checking the file system like michaaaaa said earlier will most likely fix it, if not you need to flash the mmc
