It took a Nokia

1 Attachment(s)
When all the iPhones and iPads failed to show the FIS Nordic World Championship Sprint Finals live, it took a Nokia N900 to get the job done.

At this distance... that could be any phone. And at that distance, they couldn't see much on that 3.5" screen.

But the thickness could be a good indicator it was an N900.

No WAY there is any OTHER phone THAT big. And the tilted screen makes it absolutely sure it is an n900.

And I believe him. There isn't ANYTHING an iPhone can do that a n900 CAN'T do, but there are MANY, MANY thing that n900 CAN do, but iPhones CAN'T.

Glad you believe him. If anything, I'm questioning it because of the angle.

Lemme guess... questioning bad, praise good?

It is probably just a thick B&O TV remote control that the old guys are admiring at.

But I'm compelled to trust OP in this case and I don't know why. ;)

:D:D

No reason to question the type of phone. It's my N900 running KMPlayer ;) and I'm one of the (hairless) persons in the picture.

Among others are the former mayor of Oslo and the current governing mayor.

Note the black case under the coffee cup in the bottom of the original picture. It contains my friend's (an Apple fanboy) iPad, now proven not work to when it was most needed!

Yeah... that picture should be named "The Triumph of maemo." where we can see the suits bowing down to the might of N900, with an iPhone held in dismay in the background and an iPad functioning as a coffee cup coaster on the side.

Even Kim Jong Il would have a hard time to make an even better propaganda image for the n900 than that photo.
ps: I'm guessing OP is the guy right in front of the n900 with the bluest tie.

pps: and the balance of world is restored as soon as that particular program ended.

Thanks larsoy, this pic is better than any other N900 ad I've ever seen, and it is even a real one. :)

BTW, would you share what did you use to play the live? Directly from webpage?

Also, it seems that you've high res. version of this pic. Would you attach here for our download if you don't mind? I'd like to share it in my miniblog. ;)

Now if only this were the case more often than not. I find that there are far more occurrences of an iP* doing or running more stuff the N900 couldn't. Congrats on a great "selling" moment for a Maemo device, though!

Well, as usual, I'm not going to argue with you or join you in the pissing contest. ;)

I just want to remind you N900 has many moments of triumph.

Don't you remember FIFA World Cup last year?

You were here.

well i guess the title of this thread should be "it took a N900" because nokia don't give a damn to this device any more .
it's this forum which does !

What strange feed was the game on that the other devices failed to watch?

LOL Gebrick, that was new low. I'm glad to see that danramos found the post useful though :D

I however question whether it really is the "FIS Nordic World Championship Sprint Finals" they are watching as the OP so boldly claims! Impossible to tell because of the angles. Also this looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.

Okay, so re-post this photo having shopped the N900 for another phone and demonstrate your point.

If anyone else here has a copy of Ps then feel free to download the larger image and check out the edge curvature refraction of the glass over the actual phone itself. Also, please reference the highlight reflection on the phone edge and corner combination compared to the single column highlight on the glass. Matches, huh?

Matter of fact, just check this out;

I have been working in Photoshop for more years than I care to remember and I can tell you if something is shopped or not. There are very few shops that get past me, I know as I know all the tricks - from airbrushing, smoothing, gradient map overlays, blending, masks, channels and just about every other way of shopping. This image is NOT shopped, unless the OP has taken one HELL of a lot of time to bring it all together.

I hardly know you, sorry if the following offend you, but com'on, shop? Shop for what? He posted it for our amusement. If you're amused by it, give him a thank; otherwise, just move along, I don't see how he'd desperately want you to believe anything, or anyone else would be impressed by your being exceptional observative.

To those who are just looking for grumbles and rants in a forum talking about a device/OS you don't like, get a life. You've better place to hang around, where you find true happiness. You deserve better you know it.

I think the most pressing issue here, is that we discover what wallpaper Switch_ has on his desktop.

Are you ****ing high switch? Look at the refracted gradient THROUGH the glass, this is clearly a shop, just look at some of the pixels. I can tell, I have seen many shoops of this caliber in my time.

Ha ha! I wonder how that got your attention? While everyone else was focusing on the N900...guess something else got your attention huh? :D

These threads have a tendency of changing topics very fast, so what say we start a guess what's on Switch_ 's wallpaper?

one way to end this would be..........How did he play the steam exactly, then we can try it instead of trying to figure out if he used many hours photo shopping it......

so 'larsoy' please post the link / terminal command / whatever...

Are you still able to see the reality in front of you? :D
Don't become a common laughing-stock... ;)

Why should he spent many hours photoshoping instead of simply asking: "Guys, take a seat. Watch this porn on my N900 and I may take a photo. I will grant you a beer if you hold your iPhone in the hand while I take the photo."

A lot less work. So, why such a effort for a simple picture?

By the way. I was able to watch a report from the german movie archive from RTL (a copy-protected flash site) using my Nokia N900.
My colleague with the Samsung Galaxy S failed to play the video and the iPhone was totally incapable to show the webpage. Okay, I had to overclock my N900 for a short time to 1150 Mhz, had only a framerate of about 10fps and the N900 went very hot. But we were able to see a report about a company we have visited a few weeks ago. With the other devices no chance.

So for me it is clear. The Image is real and your perhaps only a Troll. Why shouldn't it be real? :)
