Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
Did a quick tally on the community donations and notice we've officially passed the $1000 dollar mark! (€805 collected so far) Well done everybody!
I think we should make a little hoo-ha* about it, so I'll ask if it can get mentioned in the next Maemo Weekly News (all publicity is good publicity) ;):D Next stop - 1000 Euros! Edit: Also bumped the MeeGo forum thread for good measure ;) Edit2: *hoo-ha means fuss!! |

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
I would like to raise again the question how much code must have to be changed in a existing project to participate at the MeeGo Coding Competition?
In my opinion this was not finally and exactly determined... And the next question: Am I allowed to submit a project I participated with at the last competition? There is no rule for this. But in my opinion there should be a rule to exclude superb projects to "win" again and again and again. ;) But as long as there is no rule to participate only once... why don't fill up our small competition with a additional contribution?  My change: I added to my DreamRemote project now support for the Linux VDR-Live project. It seems to work so far flawless. So, any comments? What does the community think? :) |

Hello,
just a quick wiki update asked by the Qt Community Sponsorship I've added a link to the Qt SDK http://wiki.maemo.org/MeeGo_Coding_C...on_development |

I've got my own question: can we extend the competition another week or two? I really need to test my app on the n950 since it refuses to run on maemo5 once I enabled some geomapping stuff from Qt Mobility.I just found another Qt Mobility feature (QSystemAlignedTimer) that doesn't work on maemo5 too. I can fix that stuff for maemo5 later, after the competition. But this means I can't test my app on the n900, and the Qt simulator doesn't support some dbus stuff I need or the sys aligned timer either... No problem if Nokia puts my n950 in the mail, but it's still not shipped. I've got some family coming to visit me at the end of the month too, so I probably have less time to work on this later if anything. Anyways, I thought the main reason we extended it was so we can get some time to test things on the n950s, so is anyone else waiting for one? I don't want to cause the competition to get extended just for me, so please say something if you are in the same boat :) -edit- Just got an email saying they shipped it today, so I might be okay. |

I hope others are handling it the same way. :) It's anyway only a niche Application. You need at least a expensive sattelite or cable tv receiver or something similar to use it. For other people this app is mostly useless... :) Quote:
The Advantage to extend it again would be for me that I finally get able to contribute with my DreamRemote application. :D My rewriting using C++ and QML will need more time as scheduled... |
Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
I'd like to get a little bit more feedback from the other participants before deciding if extending the competition again or not.
What do you think? |
