Yes, but this problem existed already at the first extension!

So, why have we extended the first time?

Perhaps this was already wrong but I can't remember how many people said no. Currently I can't remember a veto at the first extention, perhaps I'm simply too tired.
And the reason for the first extention is currently still delivered to the developers - not even 50% got the device. If we keep the current deadline, the first extention was useless except for some lucky guys that get the N950 already a week ago. Even more unfair, or not?

Sadly we are unable to revert the first extention.

It's not to late. But the voting had begun now. :p
I wrote to long on the text to simply delete the thread now. :D :D :D

The last 3 days there was exceptionless "meh, extend... it doesn't matter" - and since we discuss in detail and I asked for details regarding the voting options and the impact we got 3 no. So, if the voting ends with a undecided 20%:20%:20%:20%:20% it had at least the benefit that everyone would think a few seconds longer about the impact of this decision. :)
But I still hope the voting could deliver a result that everyone could live with. In the best case everyone should be satisfied. Let's hope we could find this solution.

Why does the result of the poll add up to 140% ? :)

We extended originally to include MeeGo Harmattan apps.

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011

I thought the first extension wasnt because of the N950 developer device program, it was because there were quite a few calls from people new wanting to take part plus existing developers seemed happy enough with the extra time too. I dont think there were any objections raised at the time.

This met nicely with the competitions goals of bringing new developers on board whilst growing current development projects. The N950 developer devices are being distributed to people who have already demonstrated mobile development skills, mostly on the N900, and most have ongoing projects. I'm not sure we need to wait for these developers

I have some concerns about option 5 on the poll. From how I read it, you're talking about an extension til December at earliest?

Rumoured N9 launch is September 23rd, '6 weeks minimum' after is middle of November. If the N9 launch is delayed, the deadline will be December or worse.. 2012!

The world could have ended before this competition!

Worryingly this option is currently joint in the lead.

It now adds up to 125%. :)
Because you can vote for more than one option (checkboxes) and I voted for two of them: 1 and 4.

After no extention, 4 weeks, 2 more or less long extentions bound on different criterias is this the extreme option. Yes.
I talked earlier about this extreme option after I was told I should add as many options I want to the poll. Together with my own concerns.
Because of this I added in the text that not every option is possible and this voting is only to see what the community could think about it. Yes option 5 would make a farce out of this competition.

We could instead make a monthly voting to elect the best application instead of a yearly coding competition. ;)

No, I haven't added the option to extend it until the maya calendar ends. But I was not sure if I should. :D

Yes, because of this I made the voting public. We have this way the possibility to count only the developers and the public donators by hand, just in case. I would say the average user can't imaginate how a develope could see a extention.
And again, the last word has zehjotkah. As you said, we need in the end someone to blame. :D

VERY valid points and well said. I wish you had created this post some days ago. Everyone should read this paragraph and think about it before voting!
