An advantage of the Firefox 4 browser is that it handles mjpeg well.
The native N900 browser does not display mjpeg seamlessly. I use both browsers, but the Firefox 4 browser is the one I use to remotely view the security cameras installed at work which stream via mjpeg. |
Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today

Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today
I finally got Firefox 4 installed - after lots of trials: uninstall old / disable meamo repos / click on the magic button in mobile firefox page.
Now I have install plugins and can start "fennec" from terminal but not with the hildon fennec.desktop shortcut. I have not found what is wrong. Any idea ? Has anybody the same issue ? |
Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today
i'd appreciate a link if anyone has found a discussion on how opera is able to start up so frickin fast vs firefox.

now what do you say about this guys?
it's a www.html5test.com running on MicroB, Opera and then Fennec(latest beta) |
Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today
I must say Fennec Beta version 6 seems to be (I say it like that since I have thought the same a few times before) a lot better than it was.
Especially scrolling is better, it doesn't stall for half a second after you start swyping. Still lots of checkerboarding, and probably still using a lot of memory, but it's getting there. |
Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today
having repo issues... is fennec 4.0 the latest version? (as listed by dpkg -l)
|
Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today
i'm not sure either what beta 6 maartenmk is talking about. afaict beta 6 < current final.
|
Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today
I meant Fennec 6, the nightly build. V6a1, it tells me.

Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today

And this thread was created in 2011.. :) and @midcex: Did you try doing apt-get remove fennec? |

Re: Firefox 4 Mobile: Release Today
Thanks wikiwide, I would guess that the person who asked that in 2011 most likely gave up or solved the issue already but better late than never. I did not know there was an unofficial build of Fennec 16 anyway so I might check it out.
