First post, go easy on me...yahoo mail and N800
just got the n800 this week and so far for the most part good. tonight i try to get it working with my d-link pocket router, but it found my home wireless access point immediately and worked fine. one issue i'm having so far...
for some reason it does not work well with yahoo mail which is my primary internet mail. the buttons (reply, delete, forward, spam, etc) do not work with the device although everything else seems to be ok with the app. any ideas what i can do to get this to work--it has me stumped. can i get yahoo mail set up in the main menu, maybe that would mitigate the problem--not sure how to do that yet but i think i'll just need the server names to point to which i should be able to find someone on yahoo. otherwise, this looks like it will fit the bill for me--i need internet access when i travel on business or vacation and don't want to lug around an entire laptop. with the d-link i should be able to hook into any wifi or wired network i run across...nice screen and pretty easy to use except for this one issue. thanks in advance...any other general suggestions for me just getting started i'm all ears!! |
Re: reply
I have asked about this and never received a reply. The buttons work for me except the middle button which is mark as unread. I don't like this broswer as much but the minimo browser does handle these buttons correctly and plays better with yahoo mail. I am not on my normal computer so I can't post the exact link but if you search and install the minimo browser you will have the functionality you need for yahoo mail.

If you plan on trying to set up Yahoo mail as a POP account, then you may be out of luck. I know with Windows, you can use YPOPS to access your account.
But I am not sure if there is anything out there short of paying extra to have POP access. Thanks. DR. T |

Re: First post, go easy on me...yahoo mail and N800
It is easy to reply to emails (or delete them) from Opera in Yahoo Mail. For example:
The problem: You can select the word Delete so it has a light rectangle around it, but you can't find a way to actually actiivate the delete function. The solution: After you have the light rectangle around the word Delete, hit the button at the left of your N800, the highest one on the face of the N800, surrounded by the four small directional buttons. This presses the key you have selected with the rectangle. |

Re: First post, go easy on me...yahoo mail and N800
Hello. I've posted this already under the n770 section by mistake. Please forgive the double post.
I too was having issues with my yahoo mail account. I generaly use yahoo's web mail as my primary email, but as we've found out the Opera browser doesnt display it that well. So I did some searching. Go to M.YAHOO.COM it's the mobile version of yahoo's web mail. It's.only text so html stuff and pictures wont show up, but it loads flawlessly! I was able to browse through all my emails, manage contacts, view all my folders and delete messages. As well as reply of course! It would be cool if html and pictures were viewable, but this will give us Yahoo mail users a way to do manage our webmail easily with the n800! I hope this helps! SpIderkc ;D |

Hello again. :)
Now that I have found a way to access my online mail does anyone know of a email notification app that I could install? Nothing fancy or huge. Just some way to get notified of new mail without accessing it? ThaThat would be cool. :D Spiderkc |
Re: First post, go easy on me...yahoo mail and N800
If you install the Mozilla browser (microb-browser in the Application Manager) Yahoo Mail (classic) works perfectly :) If you're using Yahoo Mail beta on your home PC, the first time you access it via the N800/Mozilla it will tell you your screen resolution could cause problems, just select the option to switch to Classic "this time only"; it will keep that setting on your N800 but not affect using the Beta on your regular PC.
