Trust me, I've got reams and reams of videos downloaded from YouTube. Frickin' external Hard Drives full of them lol. Call me a hoarder!

......but these download speeds that you and the other guy are quoting are fairly normal. They start off really quickly, and then settle around the 100kb/s mark. Exactly the same happens on my Desktop PC with Firefox. It's the speed that YouTube serves up the videos. Not Cutetube or any other browser.

It seems that the mobile stream is not seekable. There is nothing I can do about that, as it's the external media player that handles the stream.

Version 0.7.0 should be in extras-devel soon. Changelog:

* New menu system requiring fewer screen taps.
* Improved search.

There are also a few minor bug fixes etc.

Checking/unchecking items in the video list is now performed via a long-press on the item. You then perform the desired action by pressing the appropriate menu button. Simplez. :D

Some of the menu icons were a bit of a rush job, so I'll be producing some better icons when I get the time.

OK Marxian, great job but I dont know how to select multiple videos to download/add/remove them?
Two things for me:
1. Of course if it's not problem for you, can you add small thing - REMOVE from favorites, playlist etc like in cutetube.
2. Here is a problem with subscriptions, when I go to unsubscrible something I get "error - server repsonse is: bad request"

That's it, if you can make it I'll be very thankful.

EDIT: I know how to select. Just these two things. Thanks.

EDIT 2: And can you add SELECT ALL in Archive it is easier to remove videos?

I do not know whether it is already mentioned but I can not see all videos. I miss the functionality to search for more. Are there plans to implement this?
Or is it just me and am I to blind to see it?

so i know you said you stopped maintaining xtube, is this permanent? i've not used it in ages but after the latest update it seems to just not work, search appears to show results from regular youtube

Liking the progress being made on this. The use of QT was a great idea.

Having a little problem since updating to 0.7.0.
I normaly use KMPlayer to playback the videos but I've since noticed that if I play any videos that were downloaded with a previous version of cuteTube-QML the sound skips every so often whereas they played perfectly before. Seems to work fine in default media player.

Are you using pali's kernel-power47 by any chance?

There is discussion about audio distortions, skips, jumbles and possible cause in power47

Playing vids with KMPlayer and power47 works fine for me!

But has anyone else noted this strange effect that video playing with KMPlayer in background kind of shines through wallpaper on desktop (heavily pixeled)?
Does that mean that it is maybe somehow possible to get video playback on desktop/task switcher background with KMplayer?

Yeah, and running at 950MHz. Although the problems has only started since 1 of the last 2 updates to cuteTube.

Downloaded 0.70 and while it is better, I wouldn't say it is fixed.

"I'm on a boat" doesn't return the video in question, and instead I get a lot of Minecraft stuff. "Darkest Of Places" also doesn't return the video I want (top selection is a Johnny Cash video). Both, if I search Youtube, brings up the videos I want within the first 5 selections.

I like the app and would like to use it more often, but until search works as expected, I can't really use it.

Have you noticed you get a choice between recent and relevant, or something to that effect? I didn't start getting good results till I switched to relevant.

Yes, same here. Search defaults to sorting by "Date." Like youtube, "Relevance" should be the install default.

I have installed the latest version of cuteTube-QML (0.7.0), but upon opening the application it is not allowing me to login and throws the following error.

I was able to login prior to 0.7.0.

I have removed my account and received the "Hey Cutey welcome screen". Entered my details in again, but still the same error.

I can view videos etc... but cannot see my videos as I am not logged in.

Has anyone seen this before? :confused:

Does it matter that I still have the cuteTube original loaded (from 2010)?

EDIT: I am able to successfully sign in and see my Uploads on the original cuteTube.

EDIT: I removed Xtube to no avail. Same error.

Maybe, but you only need to change it once, as the search order is saved each time you perform a search (there was a bug in earlier versions which meant this did not happen when choosing a saved search).

Yes, I didn't mean to imply the setting isn't saved once changed, but I think this question will keep coming up until you make the default installed value "Relevance."

I have changed the default search order to 'relevance' for version 0.7.1, which should be in extras-devel soon. The change will not affect existing users, as I don't want to override existing settings.

Changelog for 0.7.1:

* Added ability to delete videos from favourites.
* Added ability to delete videos from playlists.
* Removed some login checks that appear to cause problems for some users.
* Improved UI for 'light' theme.
* Default search order changed to 'relevance' for new users.
* Minor bug fixes.

The 'light' theme has received some changes to the background and icons to improve appearance:

These login issues should be fixed in 0.7.1. The error that you see is reported by the YouTube server. In earlier versions, some errors were not detected. This was changed in 0.7.0. It appears that the YouTube server is reporting an unknown error, but still allowing you to sign in, only for cuteTube to catch the error and prevent the login. I have now removed the additional error checking.

But I have a problem to find the active downloads. In your versions before there was a little button in the top of the right corner, where can I see the my downloads when I click on the download buttons?

You access the downloads by 'flicking' the notification bar downwards (similar to the Android notification bar).

Thanks on adding Remove from playlist/favorites. Unsubscrible not work again, and this new feature REMOVE FROM PLAYLIST wont remove everything from list. I tried 3x times and few videos are still there.

Just got the latest update. Gonna give it a test on the bus on the way to work.

Was just about to ask for a delete button after downloading 2 videos that wouldn't playback, but I found the sequence now. :P

hi,

I think I found bug with downloading, try the following:
- activate "auto downloading"
- put a video in the download queue
- then, after the first file starts to download but before its finished, put a second file in the dl queue
- now switch to the dl window
you will see that the progressinfo of the first file is showing on the second file!
and if you put some more files in the queue the progressinfo of the first file is displayed on the top most file!

just try it and you will see what I mean;)

I was using the wrong location to check that the widget is installed, hence the missing settings. I have changed it to the correct location for the next release.

I plan to implement the search bar, but I haven't been able to get the widget to capture the keyboard focus. I have an idea of how to do it, but it isn't top priority atm. I will get round to it when I've finished polishing the main application. :)

as always qml-cutetube is rocking, this app should be one of maemo5's top 10 apps .
i did notice that the performance did become a bit slow and buggy (just a bit) 2 updates back .
and a couple of pages back you said that the qml video player is working (or at least thats how i understood it ), so should we get our hopes on a built-in video player in this app ??
and btw i would love to donate, but i'm under 18, and no paypal, no credit card, .........

Version 0.7.2 should be in extras-devel soon. Changelog:

* Fixed download management bug that resulted in incorrect progress update.
* Fixed bug resulting in widget settings not appearing.
* Added date and 'new/old' attributes to archive videos.
* Added ability to sort (ascending or descending) the archive list by date or title.

All existing videos in the archive will be marked as new, and then marked as old when they are played. The date attribute will only be applied to newly added videos. Sorting by date will therefore only be applied to these videos. Sorting by title works with all videos.

You can toggle between ascending/descending order by tapping the same sort button in the menu bar.
