It didn't work when I have the packages used to play 720p on N900 installed on my phone. I just removed them; and now it works very well. Good luck.

I'm still waiting on Nokia Store QA. Another application (MusiKloud) that was submitted a couple of days earlier has been accepted today, so I don't expect any problems with cuteTube. :)

I have selected the E6 as a compatible device, although I have only tested using the simulator, since I only have access to an N8 device. There shouldn't be any problems. My main concern was to ensure that the UI layouts are correct and that the hardware keyboard functions as expected. These should be the only differences between the N8 and the E6. I imagine that Nokia Store QA will perform tests using all devices that are marked as compatible by the publisher.

My n900 bit the dust last week and I grabbed an E6. Like it, it is a LOT faster than the n8, but then again it doesn't have many apps. In fact, I barely have only Maps, Gravity and Opera installed. Not that it doesn't come with a lot of goodies (quick office, pdf reader, Joikuspot premium...).

it does not play on my n900 as well, i think youtube has recently modified their youtube site, am sure marxiam will fix it

Confused: What's the deal with those 2 versions?

I loved the Cutetube QML (blue funny TV icon) on N900.

So I have purchased the Cutetube (red youtube style icon) for Harmattan without thinking figuring only the icon had changed.
Then I discovered this Cutetube features only Youtube, not Dailymotion and Vimeo. I don't use it.

Then to my surprise Cutetube QML (the right version for me) appeared for Harmattan: Free (from charge not bugs) and supports Vimeo and Dailymotion?

Now I am in the market for the Symbian^3 version and I notice the Cutetube commercial version is available. But I'm afraid again it will not be the version I am looking for.

Please can somebody clarify?

There is a bug in the initial release that prevents playback and download of videos. This has been fixed, and an update has been submitted to Nokia Store QA. The update also has a few other improvements. However, you can fix the problem by creating a folder named 'cuteTube' on the E: drive, i.e.

E:/cuteTube

I have asked Nokia to remove the current version from Nokia Store, but there appears to be some problem in achieving this. I have been told that they will at least prioritise the QA evaluation of the update.

If you have any further queries regarding the Symbian version, it is probably better to use the contact email address in the 'about' dialog, as I don't have much time to monitor TMO at the moment. Also, as this is predominantly a FOSS community, I feel slightly uncomfortable discussing my commercial applications here.

Cutetube-Q is great, but a lot of times I need to go back and forth to the option menu to switch which player to make the video work (some videos only work with MPlayer, some play without sound lag on cuteplayer etc)

So my suggestion is to have an option to change player at the videos page for quicker switching

I don't think there is any way I can provide a solution to this problem. The player uses a high-level API (QML Video element). There is no way to access the backend.

Next time I'll be happy to pay for your own proper port, even if the Vimeo / Dailymotion cary a label "beta" on it for an undefined time to come.

Although I appreciate your work very very much I will -out of principle- not support Youtube only clients anymore with my intended purchase for Symbian.

I understand, I was merely reporting some feedback. It turns out it was my own fault, the package 'gstreamer-openmax' had crept back onto my system somehow (lol, I dunno). All is well again. Thank you for all of your hard work. Have some beer on me.

I am sorry to hear some piece of **** has taken your work and is now charging money for it in addition to getting one of the secret n950s. If you need a knuckle goon squad to go rough him up just give the word. We northern types don't take to kindly to that kind of behavior.

just noticed cutetube qml has stopped playback of archived video, seen some others having a problem with this and downloading has there been any solution to this? looked back through thread but not seen/missed it.

managed to sort it by playing through stock mediaplayer rather than cutetube player.

The downloading is now intermittent. It worked fine two days ago and last night it stopped playing again. Nothing has been added / changed in terms of software on my N900.

I download cutetube yesterday for my nokia E7 and is only black screen

You are probably missing some Qt libraries. If you install these, the application should work as expected.

As far as the N900 is concerned, I'm focusing my efforts on getting the QtComponents version up and running. It's a significant improvement on the existing version in many areas, and it also means I can concentrate on (more or less) a single code base across the different platforms. I installed this on my kp49/CSSU-testing N900 a few days back. The program is great, and by far the best Youtube client; however I started seeing significant battery drain in idle. The included battery graph displays my idle battery consumption before and after installing cuteTube-CML. After uninstalling, I was back to the same consumption as I had before the installation. During the time I had cuteTube-QML installed, I made no other changes to the phone.

marxian, I don't mean to discourage you or post something negative just for the sake of it, and maybe this has to do with something else that is out of your hands. I just wanted to bring it to your attention, and see if you or anyone else can speculate as to the reason. I do appreciate all of you who still program for the N900, so keep up the good work!

Change 'Download location' in settings to '/home/user/MyDocs/'! Media Player will detects them.

You could also install tracker-cfg and change the locations the tracker indexes. The stock media player only "sees" those locations tracked by the tracker.

All existing settings will be lost when installing this update. Due to the size of the changes, existing translations are also removed. From the screenshots it looks like it's running in non-fullscreen mode with the normal Hildon taskbar etc., including a proper top-right Back button, which would be great. Is that how it's working, or have you recreated a lookalike UI in your own code?

I allowed the update from app mannager a few hours ago not imagining I could experience any problems (since the app itself is just great and allways worked smoothly).
The thing is: at first I noticed my symbian-anna icon was gone and replaced by "a little tv" one (a minor issue, actually); then I clicked it and the app seems to start and goes to an all black crash screen. Simply does not work anymore. (BTW: my n900 runs power kernel v47).
Any thoughts? I just didn't want to go back to Y tube, since I got used to cute tube (a really great app, I repeat).

EDIT: I went X-terminal and typed "/opt/usr/bin/qmltube" and the result was "not found". The cute tube icon appears on my menu grid and the app shows on my "installed apps" list in the app mannager
