My youtube account has been linked with a google one since they first implemented this "feature". So no change to the account side of things for months.

cute tube was working on the 4th but now on the 8th my n900 will not play any files that i download. the media player says "unable to play media"

every other file works that i previously downloaded.

i tried changing the download video quality to all the options given but still no luck

last time this happend , it was because youtube changed something and hate to wait for cutetube to update. is this still the case?

I have the same problem here.Cutetube was so helpful.But I can't play any videos any more .I can just download them. Shall we wait for the new update for Cutetube? ..When will it be available?

Videos still play fine on my device, so the problem must lie elsewhere.

Thankees for your efforts thus far, Marxian. The widget still asks for a connection when the phone is restarted/swtched on though.

And here's a suggestion for all the peeps that are having problems viewing/downloading Youtube videos via WiFi.
Most routers have a “Whitelist” in their control panel. They may need to add the Youtube url to the whitelist for it to work properly.

Maybe it's a region-specific thing? E.g. Youtube serving videos differently in different countries.

hi thanks for the info.

the videos im downloading have no regional copyright issues and ive downloaded everything from home made videos to videos making cats with sill noises (purely for testing)

as i said before somthing has changed on youtube and now the stock N900 player will not play them (the new downloads). if i use kmplayer and mplayer the video runs at an unwatchable framerate but the audio is good ok if a little stuttery.

.surely if it was a problem with my device then my previously downloaded videos would not play right?

plus another person has the same issue

any advice or further investigation would be most helpful

hmm bizarrely everything works normal now. tried downloading the stuff that i want and now its all there. my only changes were using the n900 media player as default and download quality to 360p.

Okay found the solution. If the phone is on silent mode, there will be no audio.

Version 1.2.7 should be in extras-devel soon. Changelog:

* Widget no longer requires a network connection when first added to homescreen.
* Added archive videos to widget.
* Enabled searching of uploads.
* Enabled deleting of uploads.
* Changed icon.

like the new icon but all playback has ceased it was working this morning. so wether i've messed up through the day (possible) or the update has.

I can't login in my Youtube account, neither in Twitter or Facebook. The form boxes don't work properly, can't write anything on them. Any guess about why?

There is a problem gaining keyboard focus in QML WebView. It works in Qt 4.7.4, but not Qt 4.7.0. Qt 4.7.4 is only available with CSSU installed. I'm sure it is possible to work around it, but my only N900 has CSSU installed, so I cannot test with the older Qt version.

thanks for all the hard work on the is app. it is hands down the best application for the n900 since I got mine over 2 years ago.!!

I have been using a previous version of Cutetube-qml (old blue icon) and everything was perfect.

I upgraded to the new one (1.1.7 I think) and now I have an issue.

1) Downloaded videos in the archive wont play (720 res), cuteplayer and media player

Any ideas?

Also - I really used to like the 'fast' ability to D/L video/audio from the button access, not this is up the top in a sub menu...any reason for this? seems like an extra click now...

There are no changes in playback capability. It is limited by the device's capabilities. Videos > 360p will not play, at least not without the DSP patch. The UI changes were made to 'Hildonise' the application, though there are some deviations such as the tab buttons.

JUst another note, when I installed the new version, my old Archive dissapeared. Any way to get this back?

Archive now uses the tracker instead of a SQLite database. To view your old archive, go to settings and change the archive folder.

Just tried this, but can't see what I'm doing, because the screen stays blurred. I noticed this also happens when selecting "Settings" from the drop down menu. The screen changes in the background but the drop down menu doesn't disappear, so you have to tap outside of the menu to force it to focus on the main screen again.

Also, another quick request. Any chance of the lock button on the widget again?

Are you using stock Maemo5? There seems to be a difference in behaviour between Qt 4.7.0 (stock Maemo5) and Qt 4.7.4 (CSSU). It seems that in Qt 4.7.0, the change in opacity is applied to the dialog as well as the intended component. This should not happen as the two components are siblings, so I consider it a bug in Qt 4.7.0. I'm using CSSU, so it's a hard one to fix.

I don't want to make the widget any bigger than it is, so rather than add another button, I will try to get the widget to ignore mouse events when swiping the desktop or dragging your finger beyond the edge of the widget.

It's frustrating not being able to set the archive path, due to the afore mentioned screen focus bug.

Getting a notification of an update to 1.2.7, but when I allow the update it just says unable to update 'cuteTube-QML'.
All other apps update without a problem.

I'm on CSSU.
Any suggestions?

Bug: Start a video, pause and start from somewhere else using seek bar. Video plays from two times mixed and picture goes red and I don't know how to explain!

I set the cuteTube-QML folder in tracker.cfg to NoWatchDirectory.
Then the archive will be empty. How I can look the archive but the mediaplayer can't see the archive?

Hi there, I understood from the thread that if PyQt 4.7.4 is not installed we can expect issues inputting username/passwd using the cutetube-qml interface. Was wondering if there is any way to update to qt 4.7.4 without using CSSU. i cudnt find any thread helping this. trying to install qt 4.7.4 from repository complains conflict with python2.5-qt4-dbus/core/gui/common. Any pointers on how I should achieve this?

Also, is it straightfwd to revert back to existing qt if anything fails?

installed qt 4.7.5 without issues. but i still have the keyboard input issues when trying to feed-in login credential details. anything else i need to install?

I don't think there's any way to do that. Both applications honour the tracker, so it's all or nothing.

From your previous post, it sounds like you were referring to PyQt. This application does not depend in any way on PyQt, thus installing a particular version of it will not have any effect. If you want a fully-functioning cuteTube-QML >= 1.2.0, you will need to install CSSU. There's no other way. I can't test against stock Maemo5, as I only have one N900.

This is an unfortunate situation. Can we start a donation system or similar for you to buy another N900, or for some other solution to testing this on non-CSSU N900?

Playing a video over 3G is almost impossible for me. It keeps stopping to rebuffer every 2-3 seconds. When I use the normal N9 bookmark of youtube (same video) it plays fine without needing to rebuffer. What can be causing this? My 3G speed is fairly good, above 1000kbps. Wifi at home I have no problems either with cuteTube.

In settings I have set download quality to 360p (but that is for actually downloading the clip, not playing it).
