having problems with cutetube..i cant sign into youtube...
the window pops up but no matter what i do..it wont allow me to enter my name/password...i cant select/highlight them..advice?

I recently tried using cutetube-qml and I have an issue seeing any videos at all while signed in to my youtube account. I've read through the first 30-40 pages of this thread and there was mention of this issue, but no way how to solve it.

Any advice?

My downloads were working well in cute-tube QML until 31 July 2012; however, since 1st Aug while I can play videos from youtube in cute tube, when I try to download it says "failed unable to write to file"..What do you think could be the problem?
Another query: I am unable to change the default location for my download files. In a previous version of cute tube QML, I could set my own default location. Now when I go to location settings I only see an opaque overlay and I can't change file location. Can you help pse. I MUST TELL YOU I AM NOT A TECH GEEK BUT ONLY A USER.

same problem with me since i updated cutetube-qml.
it can play videos but when problem with downloading..

btw,in previous version,cutetube-qml shows the download rate while downloading but its not in current version,that feature was much better (just suggestion) :)

This soft ware is very usefull,, i download anime on daily motion
but i use axel for much faster download speed..

Hi,

i can't find my downloaded videos. By default they were saved in folder /home/user/Docs/cuteTube but when in change the settings to .../user/MyDocs/Movies i can't find videos anywhere.

I change the settings back to default but it's still not working.

i tried everything including reinstalling the program. I uninstalled it one more time, erase all the folders with the name cuteTube (including the ones in .config) and instal it again. It's saving the videos in the same folder again (Docs/cuteTube) and i am leaving it like that.

when i search fo a video, there are no videos found on youtube (empty list)...but when i change to dailymotion, they all appear...

youtube have changed something (twice in the last few days) and all the maemo youtube download apps are broken.

So my question is this: is it possible for cutetube to use the 'offical' yotube app's url for downloading. Im sure e.g. the iphone youtube app isn't broken so can't we use the url that it uses?

also, if the following is true, it might be a nice option to have in cutetube

“Some videos are only available in certain parts of the world. Your IP Address is used to determine your location and then allow or deny access to the video. Change the url from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<somecode> to http://www.youtube.com/v/<somecode>”

All versions of cuteTube have now been fixed. :) Symbian/N9 versions submitted to Nokia Store QA. Maemo5 version will be uploaded to extras-devel later.

The 'official' URL is probably the same as that used in cuteTube (I know the website uses the same URL, because I monitored the traffic). It's the means of retrieving it that is different, because it is not available via the public API.

when you say non public api are you just talking about non public url's or socket connections etc? if it's just non public url's then as you say, monitoring the traffic would reveal what they are. reverse engineering for the purpose of interoperability is legal and legit under u.s. law.

it's time to use the same api(url's) as the iphone app surely !!

i might have a go at monitoring/grabbing the url's used in the official symbian app

This kind of thing is only going to get worse, and is a reminder of what the 'ecosystem' really means for the consumer. I'll stick with my N900. :)

I'm doing that already, the problem being that the means of retrieving them can never be 100%. Google no doubt provides the URL (or one that redirects to it) as part of the feed response in the private API, but that option isn't available to third-party developers.

My cutetube has broken - it crashed whenever trying to play videos.
I am using a Nokia N900, and apparently have rights.. but have revoked and readded - or attempted ot add myself back in.

But it isn't working.

When trying to authorise me, it comes up with a screen saying that "This website has nto yet registered with Google to establish a secure connection for authorisation requests. We recommend you continue only if you trust the following location - www.cutetube.com"

I don't know what to do AND I JUST WANT YOUTUBE TO PLAY ON MY PHONE AGAIN!

latest cutetube works like a charm, much more responsive than previous qml version i had installed, but i do have 2 requests.

Firstly, I wonder if its possible to reimplement the internal media player from old versions. it was handy and avoided context switches everytime you go in/out of playback.

Secondly, I like the new menu screen but feel the views when you click on a video (info, comments etc) seem to lack the same polish. there just seems to be lots of wasted/empty space. in this aspect, i think the qml version was superior.

Thanks for a the continued support of these apps, it is much appreciated.

I plan to implement it alongside the existing options soon.

I think the layout is the same, but for most themes, the background is plain black, which emphasises the space. Also, there is no tab bar. The tab bar may be implemented, but the Hildon standard is to use the menu for those functions.

Umm - I am... but I was looking everywhere to be able to simply report an issue with setting the app up with my Youtube account - and this side of things was broken - but there wasn't a simple "Report Problem" process.

I'm just a humble end-user... not a developer... it broke.

Thank you very much, Marxian, for the continued maintenance and development of Cutetube-QML for the N900 -- it's one of those applications that I use daily. Working nicely again with the new update. With many developers switching over to other platforms, it's nice to see that some still show support for the ol' N900.

By the way, are there any potential successors to the N900 on the horizon, that features a hardware keyboard? I know the new Nokia Lumia 920 has been praised, but there's no hardware keyboard version planned for that, right?

To the other guy who was a bit rude a page back, be grateful for getting any new updates at all -- it's a free app after all!

Ahhh, that's better. Couldn't get any Youtube videos to stream last night. Couldn't make out what the error was that was popping up, (was disappearing too quick).

Just pulled the update down and everything seems good again.
