All this post is offtopic, so maybe it is not of your interest.

Yes. You expect that people take the time you haven't taken in writing correctly, to understand what you write. Here you aren't limited to 160 characters, so there isn't any good reason to abbreviate words eating some letters. Don't write like that in forums please.

Here you have a n image typically used in spanish forums when somebody writes like that:

It's so difficult to write in an understandable way so the humans could understand something? If you think this is a logic demand... JOIN!

omp is a goog media player.
but it will be great with some features-
1.file system plugin (so we can play music from folder)
2.metadata editor (most of free music downloaded from internet comes with wrong detail about album name artist and track name.) it will be helpful for fetching correct lyrics.

thanks for this app.

If you edit the default media player (details in the wiki) you can use any file manager to open files.

It works only for the subfolder of the song you open and it replaces actual playlist. I would like to be able to add a whole discography or several folders to the playlist. And I hate that a program only let me to use tags. I could live without tags, but not without folders (that is a reason for not wanting an Iphone XD). I have well tagged MOST of my songs, but I prefer to manage them as folders and files. I have ALL my 90Gb of music correctly organized and named on this way "Nightwish/2011-Imaginaerum/01 Taikatalvi.ogg".

For me, this is the best player for N900 except for that.
Maybe some of us who want that function could give some donations to who do it, so although it seems a hard work, he/she could be more motivated to make it real :) What do you think?

What do you think ?

OMP is just a media player, I'd prefer it not to do anything requiring superuser privileges.

Gidzz can you solve this issue
in video player whenever we tab on screen, there is a little flashes screen,

I don't know how to fix it yet or if that's even possible with Qt, but I'll try a few things.

OMP has many great improvements compared to the stock media player. One of the nicest things is how the music lists populate more quickly than the stock player.

However, for more than about 4000 songs, things start slowing down significantly, especially for selecting playlists. Occasionally even if a playlist is seen, it takes time for it to open.

Is there any potential for improving the speed of how menus are populated in OMP? That would make the software much more usable for me.

I'm afraid there's not much that can be done in this matter. Saved playlists could be loaded faster if I increased the chunk size, but gettings metadata in bigger chunks also means longer waiting time for each chunk to arrive, so if you scrolled to the middle of an unfinished playlist, it would take longer for the items to appear there.

As for suggested improvements:
1. Gapless MP3 playback.
2. Subtitle support.

1. Just like the equalizer, it's not OMP's job -- it needs support in MAFW.
2. I think it's doable, but there's already an external solution: http://maemo.org/packages/view/mafw-...titles-applet/

Intermittantly, if OMP is showing Now Playing screen in the background and you make/recieve a call.
On the call ending the screen goes black and the device locks up for a few seconds.

When it finally sorts it's self out, task switcher is shown and OMP has jumped back a page (to the playlist menu).

I can't reproduce it here and I have no idea how it is possible for now playing window to close itself like that.

but gpodder still opens the podcasts with the stock player.

It's possible that even though the editing of that file was done right, the stock player is still hanging around in the background and clinging to D-Bus. If that's the case, "killall mediaplayer" in the terminal should solve this kind of problems.

The first thing is indeed not in OMP, but the second is called "Append opened songs" in the settings and should be easier to use with the new opening dialog in today's update. I've got a filesystem browser in my to-do since like forever, but I'm still not 100% sure if I want it in OMP, so I usually dedicate time to things on which I've got a more solid opinion.

Those last three months were terribly busy for me, so the amount of improvements is not quite proportional to the amount of time since the last update, but I'm happy that I have found a moment before the end of the world to release a new version. ;) As always, the changelog is below and the package in the repositories.
  • Added a dialog that appears when the player is ordered to open a file and asks what to do with it.
  • Fixed a problem with empty items appearing in now playing.
  • Fixed a memory leak that progressed each time a list with shuffle button was opened.
  • Fixed a crash caused by closing the radio now playing window just after opening it.
  • Fixed the default album icon not showing up whan browsing artists of a genre.
  • Fixed a rare infinite loop when trying to recover from MAFW's failure to start playback.
  • Fixed funny behavior of the window manager after opening a file when a dialog window is visible.
  • Cleanups in the settings window.
  • More resonsive keyboard shortcuts in confirmation dialogs.
  • Closing a window that was used to add songs to now playing does not interrupt the song adding operation.
  • Updated translations.

...But wait, there's more! I have also prepared a Thumb / GCC 4.7.2 package. It's a few kilobytes too heavy to attach here, so grab it from there if you want to give it a whirl.

Thanks for this thumb version !
Did you get in touch with freemangordon in order to include it in the CSSU-thumb repository ?

I think it seems to have happened since setting my phone application to portrait only.
So if OMP is in Landscape the phone starts ringing in portrait.
When the call ends OMP has a moment and jumps backwards from Now playing to Playlists view.
Unfortunately it is intermittant, only 5-10% reproduction rate.

I'll see if I can get more information, if I can get it to happen again.

Thank you very much for your update.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

I always feel guilty asking about additional features for something which has already been relentlessly maintained AND improved, but:

Is there a command line for starting a specific playlist in OMP in shuffle?

Mental note: when the transition is stabilized, the OMP wiki needs to be updated with info about CLI starting in car view, etc.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

I've got a bluetooth Nokia BH 221 headset, and if I press next, OMP stops playing. So I can't use it with my BT headset. With the stock media player it works fine...
