Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

I'm using the thumb version but i have a strange behavior:
very often when i try to play a video the screen remains black and i have to press 3/4 times the play/pause button. After this the video starts and works fine.
In the meanwhile, no error appears and syslog does not reports anything strange.

Anyway, most of times i have to try and try and try....

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the tracker-process -r option. After restarting OMP it re-indexed the media, but now it doesn't see any of the ogg files.

Was the inclusion of them before a by-product of using SomePlayer or similar?

Experienced that once

Code:

apt-get install --reinstall ogg-support
should help.

Or maybe install
Code:

decoders-support

Reinstalling ogg-support got me back to where I was. Should have thought of that myself, thank you.

I've installed decoders-support, but get the same result.
One odd thing now is that one album has appeared in the list of albums for one particular artist, and the list says it has 3 songs (which it does, it's an EP), but when I go in it says there's one song, no details for it.

I'll have some time later to try again.

Thanks for the help so far.

try restarting omp. and if u have problems with unknown artist, try reboot. or uninstall ogg support, tracker-processes -r, install ogg-support.

About ogg problems: you should notify the dev, as ogg-support tends to be buggy sometimes.

I've rebooted each time before posting back here. Trying the uninstall, reinstall steps now.

The thing is, Someplayer recognises the ogg files no problem, so it seems to be ogg support and OMP together. Assuming that SomePlayer uses the ogg-support, which was my impression, but may be wrong?

Okay, after some combination of reinstall, restart and reboot, it now works. There's a lot of stuff on there, but as far as I can see all are now recognised.

Many thanks for your help.

in such cases you should try stock mp + ogg

I (probably incorrectly) thought that MP didn't support ogg, even with the support added. This is from the wiki entry on ogg support - http://wiki.maemo.org/Playing_OGG_files

On re-reading it doesn't say it doesn't, just doesn't say it does.

Anyway, partway through fixing it last night, I accidentally opened MP and not OMP and noticed that it was showing them (in fact identical behaviour). So I guess that the issue was at a lower level - the DSP?
