Basically, we need our program to open a webpage, read it, remove all the unncecessary codes and sections, and then format the output to get a good result. For opening/reading a webpage (preferably a mobile page so that it loads fast), you need to know how to use the command "wget" For editing and formating the result, you can use the "sed" command. To search and get particular values from the page, you can also use the "grep" command. To use the "sed" command, you also need to learn the format of "regex" for searching. This script can then easily be called from QBW. For a similiar script that I made for the Cricket World Cup (now over), see this. You may use it for guidance. example1 example2 Of course the above will only give a simple script. In the QBW thread, there are advanced examples where based on the result, the icon is changed depending on whether your team won/lost/draw/etc. A much simpler and noob-friendly method is to use the quick-widget web widget to display the complete mobile webpage showing the results on your desktop. See this. |

Re: QBW for the noobs
Hey man eefo, I am as much a n00b as you guys. :D
But I hvae to tell you, the time I spent learning the basics of shell scripting was really worth it. To really be able to do things with your powerful N900 which other iandroids can't do, you need to know shell scripting. Try to learn at least the basics like I did. |

Re: QBW for the noobs
ok guys and update :P
this is what richwhite gave me in an answer of music widget . i am going for it now , try and share your work ;) Scroll down a few posts to #2685, by Switch, for the QBW music instructions http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...sor#post962635 There are different icons further down the page, and if you want those icons a bit smaller, look for Switch on this page http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ensor&page=289 i think he posted another style a bit further on too |
Re: QBW for the noobs
Just to clarify, this isn't a music widget as such, it's for QBW to control the media player e.g. skip, back, play and pause. It won't display song or artist info, so if you want that you also need the stock media widget too

Re: QBW for the noobs
ok here are some problems i have been facing from last 3 days and eagerly wanted to share to have a solution.
1 : i have successfully managed to get profile widgets on screen . the silent and the general one. the problem is that every time i lock the screen it automatically turns the silent profile on :$ 2 : echo "echo 600000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq" | sudo gainroot | echo "" this is the script to have max frequ. as per your need . i tried 900000 to 900mhz and 1000000 for 1ghz but 1ghz one didn't work . like no problems in creating it but in the working of . everytime i press 1ghz beecon it did'nt change the frequency :$ will discuss more of them as i am exhausted right now , not being able to memorize :$ |
