770, apt-get e2fsprogs = file not found
trying to partition my mmc card to boot from it and when I do a apt-get install e2fsprogs there is the 404 file not found error. I checked the maemo 2.0 repository directory and they really are missing. I tried other maemo 2.x versions and they come as incompatible. Need help, need to find another source for those files.

check your repository lists to make sure they're correct- i used the same command a few hours ago and it worked.

Re: 770, apt-get e2fsprogs = file not found
yes they appeared correct, I actually followed the url listed in x-term in opera and the directory listing shows the files but when you try to download them, it gives a 404 File Not Found error.
The folder link shown when using apt-get was one of the 2 links below, I can't remember which one: http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...e/e/e2fsprogs/ http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...e/e/e2fsprogs/ If you try to download any of the files, you will see they are no longer there. I actually just took the plunge and upgraded to 2007HE and I was able to get the files for it. |

Hrm I seem to be also having this issue, my repos are in correctly as well. Did the files get removed or something?

Re: 770, apt-get e2fsprogs = file not found
It looks as if I'm running into this as well. I'm trying to partion my new 2gb card so that I can boot from it. I'm following http://maemo.org/community/wiki/howt...from_mmc_card/ I can get to root, but when I type # apt-get install e2fsprogs, it says e2fsprogs and a couple other files can't be authenticated. I said yes to install without verification, but I get a 404 not found for several files.
I am very much a novice at this, and haven't a clue what to do from here. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: 770, apt-get e2fsprogs = file not found
If anyone has any advice, please throw it my way. It just will not find e2fsprogs.. I have tried oodles of repositories, but no joy. I'm not very good with these things, apparantly :(
*edit* Hallelujah! It's working! Don't really understand why.. I switched on red pill mode, added the gregale distro, and installed it through app manager instead of via command prompt. Files are copying across as we speak :D |
Re: 770, apt-get e2fsprogs = file not found
I am a Nokia 770 newbie myself and have spent a frustrating sunday trying to set it up to boot off the MMC. I had issues with ALL the installs and had to use the Red Pill (How bloody stupid is this red pill thing ?) method to install e2fsprogs. Unfortunately this did not work for : apt-get -d install tar which also gave me unable to find issues. When I tried the Red Pill method it informed me that there was a conflict with something else. Eventually what I did was THIS : In a browser I downloaded the offending file to the documents folder - that file being here : http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...osso_armel.deb
After that I moved the file to /tar-temp using this command : mv /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/tar_1.14-2.1osso_armel.deb /tar-temp/tar_1.14-2.1osso_armel.deb changed directory to /tar-temp and restarted this process with : dpkg -x tar*.deb /tar-temp/ tar cf - -C /floppy . | /tar-temp/bin/tar xvf - -C /opt ........... at this time it is still copying files ........................ Thank y'all for the red pill tip ................ (What a crock) Ostin. |
