Nokia N900 on youtube
 

I have problems with viewing youtube films on my nokia n900.
I use www.youtube.com not m.youtube.com

when I use wifi at home ( 10 mb/s received and 1 mb sent):
For example: I try to run "get back" with the beatles and 18.00 swedish time. After a while it buffers and make a pause. then it runs for some seconds and then it stops and buffers again.
I run the same tune on my stationary computer at home at "get back" runs with no problems.
the day after at the same time it try on a 3g network and the films stops and there is no fun to look at this clip.

Then I borrow a Iphone 4 and use the same 3g tele2 network ( in sweden) And on the Iphone 4 "get back" runs with no problems at all.

so what is the problem with my n900?
Anybody that have any thoughts

I have some 9-10mb/s 3G and 1,5-2mb/s up :D i had this same problem but it went away when i Installed Tweakflash (or something like that, i don,t remember the name for now) and set the flash version to recommended (10,1)

As far as I am aware, the iPhone doesn't use the use the same Youtube that you are using on the N900, instead it's a specially adapted Youtube approved by Apple. Because they simply won't allow you to go to the full Youtube site like you can on your N900. But I may be wrong (but I'm pretty sure I'm not).
The N900's Media Player leaves a lot to be desired for it's video capabilities. And I can certainly say I get mixed results from Youtube.com.

Try installing "Cutetube-QML", "KMPlayer" and "Tweakflash plugin" from the catalogues, as suggested by the other guys.

Hello.
Thanks for all help.
I have now:
installed Tweak Flash plugin.
I have tried to change to flash 10.1.
I am not sure that I did it right but
( I chosed: install the highest possible version)

when I start Tweak Flash now I can see the following text.
Current version reported:
Lnx 10,1,61,0


I start the nokia web-browser, go to youtube
chose the same clip : The Beatles: Get back.

But the same thing happens. After 30 seconds it stops and buffer.


I have installed Cutetube.
Bu there I can not find a way to
find films on Youtube.

It seems the be the same thing with km-player

hi.
Well now I am logged in into Cutetube.
It was very difficult fo find this youtube clip there.
( "get back" with the beatles )

If i searched for : get back I do not find this viedeo clip
It I searched for : "the beatles" I find nothing relevant.
If I seached for : " the beatles performing Get back" then I found this clip. But is stopped after 30 seconde for buffering.

NOW I am connected to a wifi with
3 mb /s received and 3 mb/s sent.


So what is the problem?

i just tried get back on my N900 and everything went smooth,

i dont know why u can not,

if u dont use adblock then i suggest to type in terminal rm -r .mozilla
and reboot

this will make ur internetbrowser fast cause it will delete all the problems what u where having with the browser,

and if u do use of adblock then simply reinstall it again from app manager

Just download the clip to your phone with Cutetube. Then you need never worry about buffering. And you get to keep it forever and play it offline. It's so easy. People make such mountains out of molehills.

I am experimententing on the video-clip
where the Beatles are makeing one of their last conserts
on on roof on the apple hq.

This time I use the Nokia built in browser
and www. youtube.com

I installed Adblock and rebooted the phone.

And this time I could run this clip
without interruptions.

But is was not only this.
It seems that the screen for this clips was a big bigger than is was before.


After dooing this I tried with
I want to hold your hand.
and Can't buy me love.

And it works without stops.
and I can se a bigger screen.

As I remember I saw this clip with a smaller screen on Iphone4.

I do not understand how this can happen.
I was about to sell my n900 but
not anymore.


What is Adblock doing?

thank you for the tip. I will try this.
But how do I find my clips on Cutetube? This time I seached on www.youtube.com and after that I knew the perfekt title so i could find the clip on Cutetube. Is there a better way to do it?

ps: As you can read in this thread I do not have this problem any more. every thing conercerning running clips on Youtube seems to work fine now.

I find I get best search results when I use the "Relevance" option on the search page.

I've just re-read this. You type in "the beatles" and find nothing relevant? Well what do you expect when The Beatles have released hundreds of songs?! Is it that hard just to type in the artist and the song name? Thats what every intelligent person would do I'm sure.

Wow. So your complaint is that when you type in "the beatles" the specific song you want, out of hundreds, doesn't fly out your search results and hit you between the eyes.

I've just typed in "the beatles get back" and it was at the top of my search results in seconds. My god.

I mean, just typing in "get back" what do you expect? How many songs and videos out there will have "get back" in the title? It's like saying I typed in "man" and "iron man" didnt come at the top of the resuts. Durrr.

Depending on things like your location and program used (user agent) and video format, you get your video from different youtube/google data center/server. I occasionally have the same problem and when I look under the hood it is usually the very same server in NY and not one in europe as it should be. In that (relatively rare) case the only solution is to let it buffer or simply download it.

well. I only seach in cutetube in the way I seach on Youtube.
If I search in youtube on the beatles I can find this song on the top list.
If I seach for "get back" I also can chose among many recordings of this song and the beatles versions come among the first 10.

When I did the same search with cutetube I had sorted it by popularity knowing that this clip is viewed 12 000 000 times.
If I search for get back the beatles I find nothing.

but If I search the beatles Get back and sort by relavance if find the clip.

Evidently it is easier to find a special clip in youtube compared to cutetube.
