There's no API for that, and I'll be surprised if there ever is one.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

maybe the builtin skype client can handle the facebook video calls?

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

MAG

I would much prefer to have the Photos and Comments on the photos working first rather than the chat. I think the only thing stopping me from fully utilising this awesome app is that I just can't comment on my friends' photos..

Cheers to ya mate

Hello

I have read in the Wiki that the Facebook API does not allow to add Places, which makes me wonder why the iPhone's FB App is capable of doing so.

Thanks.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

is it only me or any one else has faced it .
read in wiki that version 0.3 has an option f accepting friend requests , but i tried accepting and it gave an error of sorry we are trying to get it working but i tried ignoring one and it worked :$

like ignoring a request is working but accepting isn't.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Well, tried to enable the option to let it run in the background...

Once i got dced from the internet connection, it will prompt me to connect again. I have no choice BUT to connect to the internet again or not it'll forever prompt me to connect to the internet

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Really great app! Now I feel it covers most of my needs! I vote for "Swiping to be added to photo view for going to next or previous picture" as the next feature AND zoom in pictures, could be with a gesture as in Microb or with volume keys...
Thank you very much for one more awesome app!

I used @chat.facebook.com and it worked not immediately but after a couple minutes (or disconnecting and connecting again, don't know what it was...)

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Is the message section still in progress as I can see messages but cannot go into conversation and reply. Also leaving it in the background, do you need the time out to be set up for this to update periodically?

Yeah.
What about adding new locations in facebook places?
Is it possible to add this fature to sociality?

MohammadAG 2011-07-12 11:45

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Facebook has both a public API (the one I can use), and a private API (the one Nokia/Apple/Google(?) use), I can only add the "Add place" and reply to messages features only if I get access to the private API.

Chat is implemented using XMPP (QXmpp library), takes some time to load initial online list but you can actually chat immediately, anyway, chat still needs some work.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Right people, lets start marching on facebook HQ until they hand over the private API!

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Does it need a restart when installing the new version? It doesn't keep my favorites and it doesn't show me notifications when running in the background.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

hi guys, just a couple of things so far:

- I'm getting an error when accepting friends.

- while running in the background, do i need setup the periodic update feature for me to get notifications?

Same here. It seems something that could be general for all. I don't know what the exact steps to reproduce the bug could be. Maybe shutting down the connection when Sociality is refreshing data?

I've also noticed another bug. I can (everybody, I suspect) delete the Chat icon, and the only access to it, I guess. Logging out and restarting the app brought it back.

Thanks for the update MAG, Except for that bug (and chat, that haven't achieved to chat actually, I set the chat user without the "@chat.facebook.com" thing ) everything is working very well. Nice work!

I found I had to restart the phone and set up a refresh interval for it to work.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Notifications to work with app running in background.

MohammadAG 2011-07-12 14:12

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

FYI, while it does stay running in the background, I don't start it up at boot up, you'll have to do first startup yourself or make an event.d file for it.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

has anyone used the chat? i selected a person to chat with and nothing happened, the option just stayed lit and thats it

Edit: it requires a double tap on the contact to open the chat

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

@Mohammad

is there anyway to make the notifications "push" instead of having to wait for the periodic update?
example: push notifications for; PMs, wall post, tags etc and periodic updates for things like the news feed etc
