So Lord Cloudstrife, how much did you pay for this App again? |

And there's a related bug: that new message (which actually is the chat conversation) arrives to Sociality as a Message notification, but it's not showing anywhere, so I have to go to Facebook via browser and check that message to clear Sociality's message notification (not an ordinary notification). Maybe they're FB API's bugs, and not Sociality's. EDIT: Another thing. It would be great to show an animated circle or something to show when the app is loading something. It's there on the News feed, but it's not when loading a photo and the comments, or comments for a status update (if I'm not wrong). Just in case you didn't think about that MAG. I expect you find this helpful to polish what already is a great application. |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
Thank you so much for this update!
However, is there any way to reduce the memory usage? Sociality takes 20% of my whole RAM... |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
Hi MohammagAG, just to summarize a few things that i have noticed so far:
- I'm getting an error when accepting friends. - while running in the background i do not get sound notifications even with periodic update feature checked. I have to open the app to see the updates. Also the notifications don't show up like they used to (email/sms style) delete this one - no sound notification for chat. - chat doesn't automatically scroll to the latest chat dialogue. suggestions(if possible): - Implement "push" notifications instead of having to wait for the periodic updates. |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
Sorry, no Google+ apps from me, for at least a month (have to be 18+ to join G+, which kinda makes it a fail imo).
Chat is obviously real time. Noticed the no sound notification part, working on it. You should still get email style notifications, check settings to see if GUI notifications are on, they're working fine for me. Friend accepts/ignores were actually not tested, just implemented according to the API. I have no idea how to do push notifications (doesn't it need a remote server?) |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
I don't know if it's already mentioned, but my albums are shown in albums list (Photos) beside profile pictures from people I don't even know... intead of album 'cover picture' (don't know how it's called on english facebook)... weird, btw... ah, and I noticed that of chat not automatically scrolling.

Thx a lot for the nice update MAG!
Added the feedback and bugs reported so far to the wiki. Hope I didnīt miss anything relevant. Let me know if I did or feel free to update the wiki ;-) |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
what's this feature?
- Group Sociality's notifications on top of the main window i saw it in the wiki |

The task manager entry becomes yellow (or another color depending on your theme) and shows the number of new notifications instead of creating a separate (yellow) entry in task manager for each notification |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
I have noticed that not all of the albums of a certain friend are shown. The same happens when using Kasvopus, so I would presume that is an issue with the Facebook API.
Thanks. |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
to get the chat work in Sociality, can't you use pidgin facebookchat? http://maemo.org/packages/view/pidgin-facebookchat/

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
I have seen this on the Wiki, being one of the things are still missing and pretty important for the News Feed, IMO:
- Choice between "Top News" and "Most Recent". I thought MAG was working on it and it would be part of this last update, but not. Someone knows if is being developed or maybe is impossible to get via FB's public API (which Sociality uses)? Thanks in advance. |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
Hello
When a post is made via a third-party website -for example Foursquare or the Playstation Network- one can see that a small picture is included besides the text, all following a particular format. Would it be possible to include in Sociality the ability to make such kind of posts? Thanks a lot. |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt

@Reflektorfalke
Thanks for your reply. In your example, your are using a link to a previously existing web content. What I meant is if by using the FB API, would it be possible to achieve the same effect by just selecting the image from your phone and typing the desired text. Thanks a lot. |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
hmmm...the latest update seem to have the same bug that i always have since using this apps....
everytime i make a new status all my word will be cut short....seem that i cannot make a status longer than 7 word in it....really annoying...same thing when i commend on my friends status, always been cut short.... |

Did you use any special characters like "&"? |

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
I think it's just the & character, since that's how facebook's API expects the next parameter, you can try cheating it right not with & and see if it works, facebook isn't opening for me atm.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
don't know if this was posted here before, found a bug in places, + sign does not work, eg if i type in "me + me" it comes out as "me me" ...nothing biggie, this app is the BEST!!!

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
Not to spoil the fun, but have any of you tried using Facebook on Opera on the N900? Try it, and it will be all too obvious that apps like this one are good only ion the iPhone where Opera for mobile cannot be installed.

Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
@Reflektorfalke
I apologize for not having explained myself better. In the attached image you kindly posted, one can see a small picture and a text portion besides it. This effect is achieved, as you showed, by posting a link. Which means that there has to be first a web page containing what the link points to. What I meant is if it would be possible to add Sociality the functionality to get a small picture from the phone's file system, type the desired text and post both in such a way that they appear indented as is the image you provided. I ask this supposing that the Facebook API exposes a way to do so. |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
Is that even possible on facebook.com?

The short answer: Sociality has a simple photo upload already: Go to photoīs -> select the target folder (or create a new one by selecting "new album" from top bar menu) -> select "upload photo" from top bar menu -> select pic for upload via "local file" or "camera" -> Done! As I understand there is no option to add a comment atm... But there is also the in-build image sharing for Facebook in Maemo which supports tagging, geotags, resizing, image titel and description... Quote:
("Sociality test" = comment; "Wall Photos" = containing folder) Would be nice to have a pic upload from "New status" menu I guess, but having all the options the in-build upload has would be really cool :-). Yeah sure, having upload from Sociality and in-built is kind of redundant, but so what? FB-app without proper image sharing is kind of incomplete, right :D? |
Re: [Annnounce] Sociality | Facebook client in Qt
when sociality open only blank white screen appears saying log into Facebook on top and down 0%... how to login?

I think MAG wants to have this baby "feature complete" first. We should wait until he clarifies what he wants and needs... E.g. which of the suggestions so far he likes best, if he wants to keep it Maemo-style or more Harmattan-like... |
