What facts? I dont see how anything in my post was untrue. Nor did I mention IE or anything other than Windows.

Long story short, for me, thereīs plenty of reason to dislike MS / Apple and the like and stay away from it as far as I can.

Luckily weīre not all the same.

PS: I will never forget either how MS killed a wonderfull text editor we were all used to: WordPerfect and how it replaced that with a inferior product the world now thinks of as a de facto standard...
you're replying to the wrong person, wasn't me who said that. I said nothing about windows as a product but an ecosystem.

And yes, many people here aren't represented by windows, but most people here don't constitute the mainstream market - if they did, linux would be the most popular operating system.

I love my N900 and the freedom it offers, but i like other things too - i'm a writer by trade so Office and Skydrive integration is a huge pull for me that no system besides WP7 offers. I love Nokia's hardware and don't like that of others. I like the fact that on my laptop and PC i boot up and am productive, without having to tinker. And this all ties into the ecosystem aspect - i use external harddrives and dropbox to get my laptop and PC identical in content, with skydrive it's so incredibly simple and to have that option on my phone is invaluable. To have wireless sync or a mobile phone that is seamless with my computer is priceless. And ne thing i adore about the N900 is the integration of Skype, which will now be on WP7, and it goes one further with total facebook integration into the people hub, giving not just contacts but the timeline too, the same will happen for twitter but currently i'm happy getting an alert when i get a message. It does make communication a breeze and it will only improve further. Nothing else on the market does it. The ecosystem idea is very compelling because it makes productivity so easy, it saves a lot of time and hassle too.

Now, i'm not particularly a fan of MS, but i do like the direction it's going. I like the seamless integration that lets me take my work and social life with me with no fuss - unlike maemo, with subpar docs to go or subpar freoffice or abiword.

Skype has in many ways made my life easier and better over the past 18 months, and its tight integration to maemo enhanced that. WP7 continues it and improves areas maemo lacks - only now are we getting decent twitter and facebook apps and WP7 has them built in to the OS. Is MS perfect? No, but it is doing things that really embody the purpose of mobile technology, and for real, unlike Apple with make believe stories about 'retina display' and an interface that hasn't changed in five years or google who i don't trust one bit and are offering half assed open source with all manner of fragmentation issues. Yes i like open and tinkerable, i also like something to do what i need immediately - that is why i use maemo still, because it's untouchable with certain things.

And as i said before, ovi maps is great, and the new 3d features are staggering, and coming to WP7. So all in all my point is WP7 is the one OS that offers the perfect mix of social and productive out the box with no apps, fuss or hassle. Personally, it's a welcome addition to the market i think, and i will use it in addition to maemo, i see no need to choose one over the other when both are different and cover different things.

You might want to open your windows and smell the silicone. Most of the big players have. Thats why all the big fuss with the cloud is about, thats why Google are trying to push Chrome OS, thats why Microsoft "bought" Nokia, thats why everyone is churning out tablets like mad, trying to catch the last train out of desktopville.

Tablet/Mobile is going to replace the Desktop.
The only remnants from the Desktop era might some of the perhiperals: Monitors, Mice, Keyboards etc.
You will dishout your quadcore/hdmi/usb pocketable device, connect it to the said perhiperals and voila, instant Desktop.

Just realized Skype CEO is called Tony Bates. I bet Ballmer actually calls him Master Bates. :p

No one I know approves of "cloud" computing, they all think its stupid as do I.
What about people that dont have an internet connection for whatever reason?

FOSS zealots and security freaks might not approvre of cloud(i don't approve either) but lots of companies and the average joe do.
Cloud is just one alternative anyway.

iPhone, Android and even my N900 have proven that gaming works on pocketable devices.
Imagine what will the new Quad Core tablets armed with HDMI and a plethora of other toy do.
BTW, last i've checked, gaming thrived on the console.
