apt-get update error(solved)

i have mentioned it before but didn't get the answer so decided to make a new thread , hope it wont bother any one :$

i am facing this error while runing apt-get update command :(

p.s tried fapt-get update and it's working but i need to make apt-get update working so please help :$

Can you check your net connection. I once got this error when trying to install but then figured that my net connection was down. When i tried to open any web page it gave that "Try Again" box to connect to internet.

are you using Wifi ? by any chance did you change your router recently. Plz check the ip address by going to xterminal and typing

cat /etc/resolv.conf

it isn't showing the ip , it says servername .
i know servername is called as ip but it's totally different from the wlan ip .
like servername is : 127.0.... and it wlanip is 192.168.1...

Don't worry, mine says

and it works correctly, it's ip server of a so-called loopback network interface and it is a numerical ip address representation of "localhost" (if you want to know more you can read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Localhost but it is irrelevant in this case I guess)

Anyway, back on topic, what is the result of commands:
1.

sudo gainroot

ping downloads.maemo.nokia.com

It should display some lines (add one more line to output per second), even if it doesn't output anything hit crtl+c on your keyboard after +/- 20 seconds to stop it working, you should see something like:

What does it say exactly?
2. And also later please repeate the procedure with:

never mind solved :p
forgot to uncheck the proxy settings in wlan settings.
unchecked them and update the repositories again and this time it gave failed to update only for the extras and extra-testing and extras-devel .
deleted them , rebooted my cell and made new catalogs and updated again and tadaaaaaaaaaa ;)

You had "extra" instead of "extras" and "extra-testing" instead of "extras-testing" and "extra-devel" instead of "extras-devel". You can run again commmand "cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list" and compare the result with your previous results posted here ;)

posted this issue before and someone there mentioned the same but i checked the repositories and they were showing extras :$
but now leave it .
it's all fine now :P
