What a pity there is no proper vector topomap application for maemo/meego. At http://kartat.hylly.org you can find top quality topomaps of Finland in Garmin IMG -format. The full image is 1.3GB making offline mapping possible.

Onko niin että noita merimerkkejä ja syvyyskäyriä ei saa edes maksuavastaan Liikennevirastolta?

Lähinnä ajattelen jos ne voisi sisällyttää Mapsiin nyt kun se on kaupallisessa jakelussa.

En usko että muutakautta ne koskaan tulee N9 käyttäjien saataville.

Installation
1. Make sure you have latest Qt Mobility 1.2 libraries installed. If you have extras-devel repository enabled you can install those with "apt-get install libqtm-12=1:1.2.0+git20111104-0nd~fremantle5" or if you don't you can download libraries from here (and install with "dpkg -i libqtm-12_1.2.0+git20111104-0nd~fremantle5_armel.deb").
2. Download .deb file from the link above and install it.

My Settings sheet is totally empty after upgrading the old 4.0.0 version to the 4.3.0. Map is some open street. How to get the terrain map of previous version back? Another question about the Qt Mobility installation guide: Does the command refer to X-terminal command? If yes, how to type the "~"? If not what does that refer to?

For Finnish users:

Liitteenä tässä viestissä on asetustiedostot, joilla saa toimimaan ilmakuvat ja tarkemmat maastokartat, kuin mitä Mapsissa vakiona olevilla asetustiedostoilla. Näissä haetaan Kapsin WMS-palvelimilta ilmakuvat ja suurimpien mittakaavojen maastokartat.

Asennusohjeet
1. Kopio tähän viestiin liitetyt map_settings.ini.txt ja server_settings.ini.txt
2. Poista .txt-päätteet
3. Kopioi tiedostot (korvaa vanhat) Mapsin asetushakemistoon /home/user/MyDocs/.mapsi (tai koneeseen massamuistitilassa liitettynä .mapsi-hakemisto)

Yes it is a terminal command. If you first press blue arrow key and then Sym/Ctrl, it'll pop-up window from where you can select that symbol. You'll also need root privileges to run those commands, so type sudo gainroot first.

Merimerkit pitäisi saada näillä ohjeilla (vai onko näiden lisäksi olemassa jotain tarkempiakin merimerkkejä?).

Noiden maksullisten aineistojen hankkimisessa on se ongelma, että ne pitäisi saada jotenkin valinnaiseksi (ettei esim. muiden maiden käyttäjät joutuisi maksamaan suomen syvyyskäyristä). Sen toteuttaminen taas menee sen verran hankalaksi, etten siihen viitsi alkaa ryhtyä.

nokia store tells that I have already installed Mapsi. Hence, I should uninstall it before buying. If I now uninstall it, do I loose the settings .mapsi directory?

No, settings directory won't get deleted if you uninstall it.
