[SOLVED] Cell or network location positioning broken
Until recently, location apps that have no valid GPS still showed a nearby location based on the network location.
Right now, the postion they *always* get through is: Code:
Lat N 50,40000 +/- 160kmThe only thing I can imagine doing that changed this was: Code:
- upgrade power kernel v46 to v47Can somebody who has CSSU and power v47 see what location he gets when he disables GPS? I will need a reliable GPS very soon on a trip and without network location the lock takes much much longer. SOLUTION: invalid SSL certificate of supl.google.com + phone needs reboot after switching to supl.nokia.com |
Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
Same thing to me!
I also have installed - upgrade power kernel v46 to v47 - install CSSU Please Guys!!! Any Help? |
Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
Yes: I have Power 46 and CSSU and my GPS is fine.
What does GPSJinny say? Do you have satellites? |
Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
The issue is when there is not a GPS lock, when using network positioning. But I have v47....

Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
Erm, which is it? Approximate location by network address or a-GPS part that downloads ephemeris and catalogs?
Anyway. They both work for me. My zero-GPS home (reinforced concrete) still shows me to be on the right street. Software (GPSJinny) reports <500m error. Spotme is spot on .. heh. Nokia maps is also quite happy to point within 80 meters of my location, though the dot is dark (no accurate GPS). Plugin says "Coarse accuracy" |
Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
OK, does that mean we can rule out CSSU? So v47 remains the only one causing it?

Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
Seems that way. Or a combination of both?

Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
As I reported several days ago in another thread, supl.google.com SSL certificate has expired and therefore it won't work correctly with the N900. If you are using supl.google.com you need change the address of the positioning server back to supl.nokia.com. After that, you should restart the phone to make sure the change takes effect.

Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
Woha... thanks for that tip. I mean the phone restart one.
I had actually read about the SSL issue, and switched to supl.nokia.com, but I didn't reboot and as you can guess it didn't help. Just changed it again + rebooted: success! |

Re: [SOLVED] Cell or network location positioning broken
supl.google.com is working again :D
|
Re: Cell or network location positioning broken
Google has updated the SSL certificate of supl.google.com, so now it works again with the Nokia N900.
