Battery Drain 3 4 hours just a question.
 

Im not here to cry or complain, im one to carry a charger in my pocket and charge it anywhere i go, but i would love to know what it draining it so fast, how do i output a list of apps i have install in terminal so i can post it here for you to look at and see what would be causing it which app etc.

Would love to get a full day out of the phone just so i dont need to worry about when im out i have to charge it.

Cheers guys. and yes i have all repos enabled so its possible i have an app thats not working correctly that may be draining the battery.

I have wifi switcher so i turn that on when out and about, i turn the brightness down and i normally use 3g alot, email checking is only on tru wifi also.

you can check power hungry process with the "top" command.
It will put the highest power hungry process to lowest from top to bottom.
That should give you a hint on what is burning up your battery.

ls -lrt /var/lib/dpkg/info/*.list
list of your installed packages in installed/updated order;

And a batterygraph graph of the last days could help.

Use Powertop (there's a page on the Maemo wiki) to check which process(es) are preventing your device from sleeping (C4 state). The output ranks processes from most wakeups to least, so start at the top and work down.

Ok il install battery graph as i never had it and il run it for few days and then re post back here i guess.. Do you want the list of apps now or wait till batt graph is running?

Oh no, if you never installed then it wont help now. Only the powertop method could help. My way by looking to the installed apps in order and the batterygraph, but it only work in preventive mode :/

BUT a list of installed apps could help to see if someone sees some bad apps like flashlight-extra.

Some widgets that need constant update like system monitor or some applets like cpumem help too(to destroy the batt), but to the bat run out in 4 hours is most likely some bad app daemon.

Sharing plugins are a frequent drainer. Do you have "Availability" set to online?

Obviously you have installed somthing that is causing massive amounts of wake ups and stopping the phone going into standby. You have two choices.

1. a. Figure out how to use Powertop, top, ps, kill, apt-get remove.
b. Diagnose fault and rectify.

2. Backup your contacts and just reflash that mthfckr. Watch what you install next time around.


If you search for 'powertop' in powersearch you will find lots of threads of users attempting to 'hand hold' people through diagnosing the fault...it NEVER turns out well. (unless your name is switch_, but he had some prior linux knowledge.)

IM on 3G is one of the heaviest batterydrainers. Try switch to 2g.
