Yep
i just thought that the problem is from the .profile

it might also be from /root/.profile only not /home/user/.profile

just test it if you can and tell me the result please

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Script (speedpatch) + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 (Update) Added Another Version

just did:

1. downloaded your latest patch (the one you said removed some eptaph scripts that ate ram and battery life) patched it.
2. removed the profile script with your suggestion in post #524
3. running all 3 online accounts on cellular, having at least 5 browsers, tweego, facebook, cutetube and conky as i'm typing this reply..

not one sign of crashing... just a little bit of lagging when switching between browsers.. lets see how long this lasts.. then there'll be a winner

i have released a new version for people having problems
read part3 at the first post

also fixed the battery drain since the 28/6/2011 update
the bettery drain was caused by some values (epitaph) provided causing the ram be in use all the time
but i removed them and every thing is normal now

PS you may wanna try enable both smartreflexes : vdd1 and vdd2
by editing

/usr/share/kernel-power-settings/default

and change vdd1=0 to vdd1=1
and vdd2=0 to vdd2=1

this will give 2x battery
but you will not be able to overlocak more than 805mhz (while enabling the smart reflex) it is a known common problem
and if any unexpected reboots occured
then disable the smart reflex by changing vdd1 and vdd2 to vdd1=0 and vdd2=0

if you are going to use optimizen900 which recyles all process (recommended to do after swap goes above 200M without any open window or 2 days). you may see some weird behaviour and have to reboot. in that case too disable smart reflex. smart reflex has been to me more pain and nothing else.

btw your updated script has just removed values or any other change?

i use blue sky theme too
you can change the fonts color with theme customizer
or change the wallpapers

@Every one having the famous problem
mkdir: cannot create directory '/dev/cgroup/cpu/user/': Permission denied
-sh: cannot create /dev/cgroup/cpu/user/16346/tasks: nonexistent directory
-sh: cannot create /dev/cgroup/cpu/user/16346/notify_on_release: nonexistent directory

IMPORTANT: ONLY FOR PEOPLE HAVING THAT ERROR

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
here is how to solve it (i guess)

1-)first of all uninstall every thing using these instructions (just to make sure every thing is completely clean
--------------------------------------
rm /etc/event.d/speedpatch
rm /home/user/.profile
rm /usr/local/sbin/cgroup_clean
mv /root/.profile.bak /root/.profile
--------------------------------------

then reboot

2-)install the newest patch using these instructions (just download speedpatch to MyDocs then copy and paste the codes)
MAKE SURE YOU ENTER FIRST : sudo gainroot
then copy the rest and paste them (don't copy sudo gainroot / enter it manually)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
sudo gainroot
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

mkdir /usr/local/sbin
mv /home/user/MyDocs/speedpatch.tar.gz /home/user/
cd /home/user/
tar xzvf ./speedpatch.tar.gz
chmod +rwx speedpatch.sh
./speedpatch.sh
rm /home/user/.profile_root
mv transitions.ini MyDocs
rm speedpatch.sh
mv speedpatch.tar.gz /home/user/MyDocs
----------------------------------------------------------

PS: Ignore the error about /home/user/.profile not exists cause it will create it for the first time

3-)in the same x-terminal window
make sure that /etc/event.d/speedpatch is existed
if it was there then the patch must work on the next reboot

4-)REBOOT IMMEDIATELY !!!!! (DON'T OPEN A NEW XTERMINAL WINDOW UNTIL REBOOT)

5-)the error must be gone now after the reboot
check by opening xterminal window

6-) just to make 100% the patch is applied

cd /dev/cgroup/cpu
it should be in the directory

PS: if you are still having the problem then i can't help you anymore

PS2: @people having this problem
please post reply if it is solved

thanks karam,
but i actually kinda like the blur on the background, or does it make the phone slower? if so then i guess i can change the font color, but if the blur doesnt affect speed at all then i would like to know how to bring it back. thanks

i'm using optimizen900 and your right it does make it go screwy. also noticed the same as others these last few scripts don't feel as good as the thingonaspring one.

i edited the default file to enable the smart reflexes, but when i check with kernel-config show, i see there the smart reflexes arent enabled. but as i said, on the default file they are both 1. what should i do?

Glad i helped :)

and believe me
you will not need to overcloak n900 again

And for people who wanna take a chance and try to change the script
and test it (possibly better performance will be noticed)
because some members reported that previous versions are better

just enter this code :
-----------------------------------------
sudo gainroot
----------------------------------------
rm /home/user/.profile
mv /root/.profile.bak /root/.profile
----------------------------------------

And then reboot

and if you want to get back to the original script just uninstall then install it again

@karam

It is definitely quicker in every sense of the word.

Last night at home on my WIFI network, browsing websites was a pleasure. Really fast (instant in most cases even big websites with lots of graphics (Engaget, GoodFon.com etc).

This morning on the train into work, again a pleasure to surf the internet. I had multiple browser windows open - both MicroB and Opera with (engadget, BBC news, F1 Pitpass, Pocket-lint), two twitter clients open (Tweed-suit and Tweego), Stockona, Bluetooth to headphones, and UDone Task Manager open and things were running smoothly. I did not have overclocking (maxCPU) enabled.

Very impressed. Thanks again for the script. I am going to post a 2 minute video of the speed I experienced at home, perhaps others can comment if they see similar speeds.:)
