i don't know if i'm abusing it too much or not but i have:

3 accounts online. i had fb, msn pecan, skype (tried reducing to 1: just fb but no change)
not more than 5 browsers
tweedsuit
conky
sms one person

running widgets:
personal dataplan monitor
personal ip
conversations
media player(not playing anything)

i've done the scripts (installed property) and reinstalled the latest one numerous times with the vfs cache set to 10 as well.

and it has shown many signs of hildon-home crashing... too many times... looks like it didn't work smoothly like some have claimed.only when running NOTHING but this one browser is the phone showing proper/acceptable responsiveness.. at the most maybe 2 active windows and that's it. if go online with my IM accounts or open more browsers.... kuku

I don't know what happening with your phone, but i've had as much as 11 apps open(running) and 4 web pages, with minimal performance lag

Your script makes this app Advanced Interface Switcher (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=60473) not being able to pull up the Internet Connection dialog after enabling wifi. Before installing the script, the dialog worked fine. Could you take a look?

i have just run the apps/accounts/widgets you have
and i don't have N900 over cloaked
but i'm running them all smoothly
the problem must be from your N900
try to disable Hwsync
it may help

OK, I removed and reinstalled Advanced Interface Switcher and now that auto dialog pull up works again. No need to disable HWsync.

EDIT: Ah, scratch that. After rebooting, it doesn't work again. Something must be blocking the calling script (you know, that internet connection is automatically pulled up after you enable wifi...). I just applied this patch and swappolube proposed settings. HWsync is disabled now but still doesn't help.

Can you (or anyone that has the latest Advanced Interface Switcher) double check: after rebooting, if you enable wifi, does the Internet Connection dialog automatically pull up?

i just installed the newest patch and it's working fine, right now i have 12 windows open including the music it's looking fine only with less lag not like before. big change thanks for the patch karam =)

i did apply the swappolube vfs cache pressure=10, though not the smartreflex option. hehe
just curious, how did you come up with the value=10? what does it do?

Well i tried opening 6 windows with music on before installing the script and overcloked to 805 and it was laggy. Then after installing the scipt i tried more than 9 windows with music on it's super fast with the same overclock. So for me it's working well, and i'm not experiencing any reboot yet. :)

hildon-home crashing means you have some widget which is corrupt and is responsible for the crash. try to identify it and you should be all set... try by removing all widget and see if crash occurs, if not put widget which you require one by one and keep checking. the moment you hit the bad widget it should crash your hildon-home and you know the culprit.

the patch had same effect on my device too so i removed
without patch it is working fine.
did you find out what was the problem?
or some devices have conflict with the patch?

IMO i think that the N900s having this problems
got swap tricks or some conflicting system based files
so i think you should reflash your device and start fresh with the patch

PS: I and many other members doesn't have any problemsd
believe me
this script and these tweaks made my n900 paradise

have you downloaded swappolube yet? i'm using the proposed vales with karam's script right now. i'm not sure if this is the best but it sure is snappy. :)

currently, no widgets.. only running

1 contacts shortcut
icons
and 8 bookmarks

tried running IM, web browsers 5++ and other apps like tweedsuit/tweego and it slows down quite significantly... hildon-home crashes again and the phone freezes up...

sorry to report this karam... but it still doesn't match up one of the previous patches you had before which made my phone SO SNAPPY and fast... this one just doesn't allow me to connect to the IM and have a good UX...

If i'm just loading web pages (let's say about 6 of em), everything seems to be ok and the UX is acceptable and quite fluid. Once i start to connect to the IMs, it'll start to show signs of freezing and after a while eventually freeze once I open up browsers and stuff

i agree with problems with slowing down using IMs. not very significant for me but phone does slow down. thank you for the work you have done however.

But you see, this wasn't the problem before

I'm VERY sure that in one of the previous patches, the UI was completely fine. I had widgets and everything else and the UI was UBER smooth. I could run all my bookmarks, tweego, sociality, 3 accounts online and everything was still A-OK.

That's why I feel a bit frustrated that now these updated patches didn't work as smoothly as before.

*sigh... I know it's difficult to test all the patches out karam... but good job thus far.

I got my first IM crash in two years! That hardware acceleration tweak must be a bad thing.

That HW tweak is the most notorious hack on the N900 for working differently on different devices. I don't use it because it messes up mine, no matter what else I do or don't have installed or running. The fact it works on yours is good for you but is no data point for anyone else.

Anybody who has enabled HW acceleration and has found instability in anything needs to turn it off and try everything again.

i have an issue. the default double click to unlock the screen on the power button now requires me to twice double-click and it lags before i see the swipe to unlock image? is this normal?
