I don't know if this patch is the cause or not, but video rendering is very bad after I applied this patch.
Everything else looks really smoother, but regarding playing video files, a movie that I could see in a pretty good condition before applying this patch is now very,very,very, very, very bad. Sound is good but video is framedropping like there was no tomorow, it turned like it was a stopmotion movie... Can someone confirm? |

can confirm i'm not having any of the problems other people are having. playback is as smooth as ever no skipping or lag. i'm using hw sync as well with no problems :D

video rendering gets a bit worse with kernel-power v47 and for people having problems with double clicking the power button to get the swip to unlock screen is actually a problem with CSSU |

Yesterday, i installed the patch and all suggested tweaks, too, except CSSU because I don't know yet if I should :)
However, It's amazing. Everthing feels really much faster than before (although I though It was already fine for me without any patch and tweaks). I'm not sure if I have Power Kernel 47 installed. I installed the power kernel (called titan?) already some time ago. How do I know if it is PK47? :) -- sorry for my stupid questions. One more: What actually does 'smartreflex' and the value for 'vfs cache pressure'? As i said I followed the instructions and it works. So it's just for curiosity :) Thanks! nexus |

i do have smart reflex and the vfs cache trick standby from 2 days still 56% (just checked that) means will stay for other 2 days standby with limited usage 4 days without charging means completely stand by phhh about 7 days until recharge i saw a post before (in previous pages) for some one said he used N900 for 9 hours heavy usage without charging using these battery tweaks |

you can activate it with qcpu application it is very useful however if you activated it you will not be able to overcloak more than 805mhz |

there are three things which I have done to improve the battery. 1. vfs cache pressure like I stated earlier to 10 rather than 1000. 2. enable smart reflex (which some time hangs so might disabled it). 3. powersave bias in kernel profile (change it to 20 instead of 0), it means it will not overclock to 805 all the time and try to conserve battery. slight impact to performance over battery life which I can live with any day. |

Thanks for your post i can now know that you are the one noticed me about the vfs cache and about option 3 i'm testing it right now we will see how it goes with me if it goes well and saved a bit of battery (at least) then i will post it in 1st post with as mehulrajput provided the vfs and the bias in kernel profile tricks cheers |

----------------------- sudo gainroot ------------------------- apt-get install bash ------------------------------ Then repeat the steps @zurrain101 the transitioncontrole app doesn't work because my transitions.ini has the [thp_tweaks] sector and transitioncontrole is not made to read that sector so it thinks this is a corrupted transitions.ini if you don't use CSSU open the transitions.ini with any editor ex : leafpad then go and find the [home] sector then delete the (they are under [home] sector ----------------------- zoom_on_press=0 ---------------------- and delete ------------------ parallax=1.3 ------------------ then scroll down to the bottom you must see [thp_tweaks] delete it and every thing under it then relaunch transitioncontrole it should be launched NOTE: DON'T DELETE THE [home] JUST DELETE zoom_on_press=0 AND parallax=1.3 UNDER IT --------------------------------------------------- off topic lsolano suggested to make a wiki page including everything from the first post but i got no time for that so can someone do it instead of me? |

i really appreciate it thanks @prankster your problem started with cp command means you haven't downloaded the speedpatch.tar.gz or you downloaded it but didn't put it in the /home/use/MyDocs means you need to put it in the default root folder on N900 means download it to Nokia N900 and don't put it inside any folder |

if you've saved it to documents folder try moving it into the root folder. where all your other folders are i.e. audio clips, camera, documents, images, mac os, maps

I've tried this 'patch' and it gave me no speed ups, but I got a lot of problems (from programs crashing to weird spots on window animated busy-indicator).
Before applying it, I've tested system under proposed load (8 browser windows, few more apps and Music Player) - and it was just fine. After apllying, the Browser crashed on the 3rd window. So I removed it and will not try again until it will be proven to be stable and effective. BTW, I've screencasted both before and after usage with tv-tuner, can upload it if interested. |
