facing same prob...but another weird prob..healtheck shows 100% battery when full battery charge but batlevel shoows 96%....wat to do..this tweak is not wrking for most n900 so karam,, has evry1 gota hardware problem?

I'm experiencing the same I think. I've set my CPU speed to 250/805, SmartReflex enabled. However, I use this script, PowerKernel,Swappolube... so maybe this script is not the only one to blame :-). Anyway, very satisfied with my new n900.

Hi,
i got the reboot loop problem with the ''ideal'' settings.
And same as upside, my n900 works well, but the battery is empty very fast. Even at 750mhz.

looks like what ironm8 said is true

when the device is in standby it doesn't use the battery at all
but when using it it starts to drain the battery
i have noticed that yesterday when i went with my family to a boring place
so i used my N900
i have noticed each 10minutes of webos games takes up 5% of the battery

but if you left the device to standby again
you will notice that the battery increases from ex: 80% to 85% automaticly
so this is really confusing
will do some more tests and try to solve the problem and reply back

change to default profile
but edit it and apply vdd1 and vdd2 and change powersave_bias to 20 NOTE : STILL TESTING STAGE

im curious the way powersave bios works wouldnt it be the same as just underclocking 20 percent off the max cpu speed u have set
example if overclocked to 1000mhz then powersave_bios at 20 will tell the cpu to use 800mhz
im wondering if it will use a little more battry with the phone haveing to calculate this rather than just setting it to a base lowerstock speed

hey karam are u working on new battery tweaks? if u r then can u make it more common? sdo that it can work on all n900s? because your ideal n default profiles are not working great for me.

powersave_bios=20 does not work for me. drain battery a lot. back to 0.
now usage time extended.

current configuration
min freq 250
max freq 700
smartreflex vdd1 & vdd2 = 1
ignore nice load=1
upthreshold=90
sampling rate=300000
not using CSSU but portrait hildon-desktop

i've been messing up with some values
up threshold
and the voltages

but messing with up threshold causes less performance
also other things

will do some more tests and reply back
but can some one test something for me:

change powesave_bias to 0
and test if you get a better battery life
i expect you get a shorter standby time
but a longer time of continues usage

I have several problems, first I did not see any final changes after installing the latest version of the final patch and when installed and found some problems, such as some files do not exist or can not be identified and also can't install some packages try " -f install " and comes in yellow lines say that the patch is already installed .

How can I ensure the patch in a way to working 100/100 ?

I have several problems First I max speed to 1100 and raised the heat
When i open the contacts take the first time in 5 seconds
When i open the phone up to 3 seconds and then disappears then appears
And a lot of slow and Freezeing

so far nothing is final thing
because testing these kind of stuff takes long time

but so far i have figured out that changing upthreshold and sampling rate
will decrease the performance

i have minfreq 250 and max freq 750
and i have a long stand by time
but a short time of continues usage (just like every one else)
so i tried to figure out the problem by making powersave_bias to 0 again
if the same thing happened i will try to modify the vfs cache

PS: can some one help me testing
because i have my N900 almost on standby

Hello karam,

First, I'd just like to thank you for all the amazing, hard work you've been putting into this thing.

Unfortunately, I've also been having a serious battery drain problem since I installed this patch, even when the device is in standby.

I have attached two screenshots. The first shows my old standby power usage, and the second the new one after the patch. Prior to installing the patch, I had power kernel 47 running ULV at 950Mhz, with swappolube and CSSU. No smartreflex or other tools. I made no changes after installing the patch, but while the device does feel snappier, battery life is dysmal.

Thoughts?

the battery drain problem is confirmed to be caused from one of the following :

1-) vfs cache
2-) powersave_bias

i have tested the patch before these tweaks and after
it seemed to me it has nothing to do with the battery life

however i'm not 100% sure of that
because as i said before i have my N900 almost always in standby

In my case, standby or normal phone usage (calls, sms) does not drain my battery dramatically.

But when using something more power consuming, like WiFi, it is obvious that it drains faster.

At this point though, I'm not sure if I care that much of power consumption vs the benefits obtained with the patch.

It could reduce my battery life, but I think I prefer to charge my phone more often and obtain the speed provided by the patch.

Also, I've set my CPU up to 805Mhz, soy maybe part of my battery drain is because of that.

@karam: I can test new settings/options, just let me know how apply them.

@ karam u dint tell me y healthcheck shows more battery life than bat level.cufrenlt batlevel shows 48 and healthcheck shows 74 how to solve this issue?

1-)if you have followed the 1st post instructions
then :
change back powersave_bias to 0
and test it

2-)after finish testing number 1
restore powersave_bias to 20
and increase the vfs cache to 100 (with swappolube)
then test it

3-)change back to default profile and apply powersave_bias=20 and vdd1+ vdd2 = 1


ARE U USING DEFAULT PROFILE OR IDEAL MODIFIED ONE?
and thanks for testing
it will take days to see what option is the best

hey karam. can u please tell the values of upthreshold and sampling? u said its gonna increase processing? but will it decrease battery? im gonna test with min 250 and max 750 with powerbias=0 but can u tell me which values i should put in threshold and samplign to increase performance?

Very good question, I'm sorry I was not clear on that: I've been using the script with *no* battery tweaks so far.

At this point, I rather will install the battery tweaks as described in posts #1, and 24/48h later, will change what you've just recommended me.

ok guys
i've been testing with the default profile (not the ideal one)
and i'm getting this result:
each 10 minutes 4% of the battery is gone (on continues usage)
=each 250 minutes 100% of the battery is gone
=4.1 hours of continues usage

but if you are in standby mode then the battery life is about 3 - 4 days

what do you think about it?

so leaving them as they are is better

and rebooted then your problem would be solved

i came out at from hme at 8:30 with 90 percent.using it maximum.now its 11:30.i browsed for a continuous of 1.15hr in total.played angry birds for 15mins.talked for a total of 30mins.nw my battery is 69 percent.what do u think guys?with this tweak.each 10mins 2 percent is gone.

those settings trisha02 are not good at all

maxfreq is 850 is should be maximum 750 for a good battery

no vdds are enabled

i will post a modified default profile after a while

and before the tweaks i usually use N900 about 3 hours continuesly

PS: the only thing i see is modified is the maxfreq changed from 600 to 850
i just can't understand how you got that battery life

i have been browsing till the last tym i posted here.now its 66 percent left.trust me.the max cpu is 850 bt i run my cell at 500 always.unless needed to play games

as root type
leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

and make sure to put a # in front of blacklist bq27x00_battery
i found just using the echo command in first post just made multipul
blacklist bq27x00_battery lines without the # blocking it so it was always blacklisted

the changes:
where made to make the installation process goes easy for noobs

but for the other problems you are having
the -f install problem has got a problem with a corrupted package
it is normal to raise the heat while overloaking
and contacts takes 5 seconds to open on the first start up of the boot
reopen it and it will be fast
as well as for photos
so your problems have got nothing to do with the patch

try to fix them
or reflash

and please people if your N900 fell on the ground don't say the patch made it fell
i can see that everyone having problems (even tiny problems)
are posting it in here
the patch made my N900 a lot faster and smoother
we just need to wait for karam to solve the battery tweaks issues
