does hardware acceleration reduce batterylife?
if yes, how much compared to regular use? |

do we have an option to selected which program will have the highest priority?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
Hi there, got some questions...
I recently flashed my n900, installed cssu, and this patch (with all the indications from the first page)- using default profile, VDD1&2 enabled, powersave_bias-20. this is my 3rd day in a row with moderate usage - about 45 outbound minutes and 20 minutes inbound. nokia messaging with all time syncing email accounts, too. When i go in conky i get 55% left in battery, when i go in xterminal for grep-ing battery percentage there are 2 values - 21% and 55%, also i get 2 values in grep-ing remaining time - 3600 vs 26700. Where did I go wrong? or..which one is the true value? However, this patch by karam did improve my phone, thanking again, though. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
hey karam. i tested using power bias=0 and got like 24 hours with good usage. with powerbias=20, i got 16 hours max

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
Hi All
I'm afraid epitaph has a point here. I've been doing some more digging into how the N900 manages resources and it seems that Open Hardware Manager is in use on our system. OHM includes cgroup management, and it creates a cgroup filesystem in "/syspart". Look at the contents of this folder on an un-patched device - they're almost identical to the /dev/cgroup/cpu folder contents on a patched device. Have a look in /syspart on a patched device - there is no cgroup filesystem there anymore, it's just been moved to /dev/cgroup/cpu by the patch script. OHM keeps its config files in /etc/ohm and /usr/share/policy/etc/current/. A look around the files in these directories will show you listings of every maemo process and what cgroup they belong in (applications, desktop, launcher...). This is the source of the mysteriously self-organising cgroup directory. It's not mysterious, its not self-organising, OHM is doing its job as it's been configured to. The patch script does make one change to the way cgroups are managed by OHM though. OHM manages CPU, memory and "freezer" state for all processes. The patch script only manages CPU and memory. On an unpatched device, cat /syspart/<cgroup_name>/freezer.state will show you the current state of a cgroups processes. I've only ever seen cgroups in the "THAWED" state on an N900, so I doubt they ever get frozen unless the device is in standby. On an unptched device, there are no freezer.state files in /dev/cgroup. Not surprising as the mount of /dev/cgroup/cpu uses options "-o cpu, memory" but not "freezer". |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
yeah i already now that
but i have read some where that using the patch in other linux systems including maemo5 will make cgrouping do a better job that is not only confirmed by me but by many other people not only on TMO |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
hey wen i rouched the top menu bar line i can see only twp applets in my n900 i.e volume option and battery percentage option... i cant see the all applets like fm transmetter, shortuts, internet, clock, bluetooth etc... how to get it back

reboot :)
or use powatool |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
well... i've been using this script for awhile now, so, I'm getting the idea on the speed that it is now and how it handles apps.
Going to uninstall and run it for awhile to see if there is any real difference in usage |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
So far I have been without this script. I too had raised the difference between ohmd and this script but didn't pursue it till the end. Frankly I am not seeing any noticable difference now as I am using a cron job to run optimizen900 script every day around 5am. This cleans up RAM and makes my n900 feel much snappier.
I am currently gathering some battery graph for without patch and powerbias/nopowerbias. Seems power kernel 47/46 had some battery issue, though not confirmed by every one. Waiting to put 48 version to see if helps. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
mehulrajput
have you tried the patch to say that ohmd does the job i have read somewhere if cgroup was moved to /dev instead of /sysparts then it will perform a better job just for your information did you know that this patch was added to the latest linux platforms but for the battery issue i wish that pkv48 solves it PS: i don't use optimizen900 for 5 days still fast and snappy |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
i just had an orgasm although i dunno what you guys are sayin..
so can i know if the hw acceleration uses up more battery? how much more? and even in standby? coz with hw acceleration, i noticed cpu rate goung up to 750 *which is my max freq* i wanna know if its used in standby as well. thank u and have a orgasm free day :) |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements

as it is suits SOME n900s thats why it will show different affect on every device may it isn't suitable at yours so change it back if you think it is kicking your cpu rate up . plus you can try power top to check whether is it something else or HW acceleration . i have it changed on my device for like 5 months (not sure) and i text all day , about 600 texts and then use wifi and have above 20 beecons on my desktop and my battery still lasts for a day . |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements

apart form that, its common sense to figure out "hardware" acceleration causes the cpu. all i need to know is how significant is the cpu consumption and is it relevant if the device is in standby mode since the display is off. |

I use ideal profile, need to add this and bring down my cpu speed to 250 750 instead of 500 805 currently. I am not sure which kernel setting I was using, but yesterday night my charge on phone was steady line when I disconnected from charger at 1 till 8 in the morning. I don't recall if I modified the kernel profile in the morning. would post mine once I confirm it. |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements
Guys,
It seems to me that I'm a late entrant here, but I installed the latest script but seeing battery drain like anything. It didn't happen with previous scripts. Please advise. |
