The speedpatch version from July or August (not the .deb) was installed before (and I didn't uninstall it). The old file in /etc/event.d differs from the repo version in a comment line so dpkg created a backup of it. Maybe the problem were those 2 files (speedpatch and speedpatch.dpkg-old) doing the same.

I could fix the problem by deleting the old speedpatch file in /etc/event.d.
Code:

rm /etc/event.d/speedpatch.dpkg-old
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't get that error in xterm anymore neither malfunction on reboot. At least till now ;)

hmm ..hmm . hmm
maybe this is the problem after all
just because we changed from tar.gz to deb which made dpkg back up the old existed files

but i said that you everyone should remove the manual version before installing the deb one

For now i need another confirm that this is the thing causing the troubles

When device is locked: CPU 250 750
When device is unlocked: CPU 500 750
right or wrong???

Can I OC to 900?

Maybe there is something else causing this problem. If I'm getting it right Zekahz purged everything before and still got the error. But I don't know if a differently named file remained in /etc/event.d.

i would like to ask that the new battery patch's profie with one out of two vdd enabled gives more battery life than custom karam profile with both vdd enabled? if yes then how? i dont know karam how to change the voltages n stuff. i just wanna use a profile that gives me good battery life plus the min freq in the new profile is 500 which again should take up more battery life. can u please tell me if i should edit this profile? or does this give a better life than custom karam due to any settings.
thanks for the help

I think its 250 - 500 when locked and
500 -750 when unlocked if you are using the default profiles that come with battery patch.

You can change this either by editing the overclock and underclock profiles or by editing /opt/dbus-scripts/cpu_normal and CPU_sleep to point to your own customs configs.

I believe Karam's custom profile was a modded version of Ideal, if so then the voltages used would have been lower than the profiles in the latest battery patch. If your phone is stable on Ideal you can edit CPU_sleep and CPU_normal as per above to point to your own custom profiles.

ok so u mean that this new profile has default profiles? can u please tell me how to edit the custom karam profile? what to do with governor on demand etc to increase continous usage coz its 250-750 and iwth both vdd on so i think it would be better. and it uses lower voltage right. so what do i do to make it as the new profile in the batteyr patch but with both vdd enabled and with custmo karam voltages

The new battery patch uses new profiles based on default voltages. To use Karam's custom profile, save it to /home/user/.kernel as something meaningful (name it what ever you want as long as you remember its name, then edit /opt/dbus-scripts/cpu_normal with what ever text editor you want. E.g.

Nano /opt/dbus-scripts/cpu_normal

Now change the line that says kernel-config load overclock to
Kernel-config load *Karam's custom profile* (I.e. whatever you have named it).

Now when you unlock the device it will use that profile instead.

I am unsure what difference the cpu governor actually makes (not seen much difference on my device) but if you want to change it, edit the profile you have set to overclock (E.g. nano /home/user/.kernel/karam) and change GOVERNOR=ondemand to GOVERNOR=conservative and see if you get better continuous usage.

I must warn you though, if you are unsure about anything here, you are probably best to leave it. You could end up giving yourself random reboots if your kernel profile is not set correctly. Although, you can just go back to using overclock in cpu_normal which should fix it.

i made the steps but i still get the x-term error, i notice something when i get to the event.d folder using filebox i only see this file about speedpatch: speedpatch.dpkg-dist, I made the steps whit that file (only renaming speedpatch for speedpatch.dpkg-dist) and reboot but still getting the xterm error :/

And what is the best way to change this? Editing the overclock file or using xterm?

You missed to read the other posts here try this if this will work cause mine got rid of errors and successfully installed the patch.

Open the x terminal and just type this:

rm /etc/event.d/speedpatch.dpkg-old

then reboot twice :)

you need to be in the kernel-power-settings
usr/share/kernel-power-settings.
i find the easiest way with filebox and when i'm in this dir i press the tools icon and 'open terminal here'

then i type leafpad (profile you want to change)
this opens leafpad and lets you edit the profile don't forget to save

i can't see changing the max having any problems with batterypatch function
hope this helps.

to everyone
i've installed power v48 so i'm going to check battery life with it and batterypatch.

Are you f... kidding me? Half or more of this thread is about improving battery life!

However, is hardly impossible (don't trust this guy, it's really IMPOSSIBLE) for the battery to last a day browsing andgaming continuosly. There aren't miracles here...

EDIT: Allright. Maybe I became too excited. Sorry for that.

that's just what karam set the profile max at, some peoples (me included) can't go above 750 and use smartreflex at the same time others can go to 805 or if your really lucky like karam you can use SR even higher. you could turn SR off and clock it higher if you wanted or you could set it lower and keep SR on.

update:
Battery life is awesome so far :)

EDIT: If you have uninstalled speedpatch and want to keep it uninstalled you also have to empty the file /home/user/.bashrc (or at least remove the speedpatch lines)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

Hi,
just a quick feedback to battery patch.

I am running the newest version from HAM since more than a week now.

1 unexpected reboot in the beginning. I then changed VDD1=1 and VDD2=1 (one of them was 0).
Since then (app. a week now) my N900 is running without a reboot inbetween. Battery lasts for 1.5 - 2 days depending on my usage. This is compared to 1 day without the battery patch.

I am using powerkernel v48 and the latest cssu.

Thanks to all who contributed so far. Think you did a really good job.

hey is there a way to check that when the phone is idle then a low voltage profile is used? coz the kernel-config show shows the in use profile n frequencies. is there anyway to confirm if its activated and there is another profile while on standby?

To conclude, I think I got speedpatch work, but the screenshot got a problem...do you know how to solve it?

If you have the last patch, you propably mistake the file to edit.
The last patch don't use custom-karam profile but two profile called:
-overclock( in use when the phone is unlocked)
-underclock( in use when the phone is locked)

and switch between them every time you lock/unlock the phone.

you should edit file overclock sited in /usr/share/kernel-power-settings
or if you want to use profile custom-karam you have to edit tihs file: /opt/dbus-scripts/cpu_normal
