you will see overclock has 500 min
underclock has 250

I have not had time to check anything sp/bp related in a while, but am happy to see you've abandoned the 125Mhz level. It's never caused anything but problems, which is probably why Nokia left it out in their default kernel.

Also glad to see you made it through the turmoil and are active again here. I wish you well and I'm sure I will have time in the not to distant future to catch up and see where things are. :)

since
Code:

apt-get purge batterypatch-non-kp
doesn't work i search in extra devel and found here
HTML Code:

http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/pool/fremantle/free/b/batterypatch/
this 2 versions:

batterypatch_8.0_armel.deb 14.04.2012 18:52 8108
batterypatch_8.1_armel.deb 18.04.2012 18:24 8190
whitch one is for non power kernel users?
thanks!
P.S.this battery patch realy works ??because after i installed speedpatch and swapolube my battery discharge much faster than before(i am a non power kernel user;non OC user.etc..)i will try with battery patch and if i see no changes i will unninstal firt swapolube( see what will happens) and if no result unninstal speedpatch and see what will happens,and write here the results.

How can I set the avoided frequencies witch the Battery Patch applied? Every time I change </sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/avoid_frequencies> it gets overwritten when the profile is changed.:confused:

hey Karam, are you working on the black screen issue in speedpacth? going to nitdroid and coming back to maemo needs 3 restarts to make maemo load. 1st one it turn off without booting, 2nd time it boots with black screen, 3rd time it boots normal.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

@rslick

Code:

apt-get install batterypatch-non-kp
that should do it

@Fellfrosch

you must edit /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/overclock
and remove the freqs you don't want

@ahmadamaj

i'm really sorry, you'll have to wait a bit more time
because i have my bakaloria test in 41 days
and am really busy with studying right now :(

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

Hi Karam,
thanx for your answer.
But my problem is a different:
When th underclocking profile is active there are two frequencies which are avoided: 125 and 250. I want my N900 to use the the 250 MHz.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

this can't be
i have checked underclock . 250 is existed
btw you need to manually load it:
Code:

root
kernel-config load underclock

must see that 250 is not avoided

Unfortunatly it is avoided:

@Fellfrosch

seems that your overclock profile was the same as your underclock

did you messed up with something before ?
ex: coying overclock over underclock ?

just to make sure nothing wrong in the update

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

Hi Karam,

the profiles were definitive different.
I checked the profiles three times.
Even tried to copy my backuped old profiles over the newer once which I've modified manually.

On the other hand i don't think that there is something wrong with your update. Otherwise the reinstallation wouldn't have fixed the problem. I guess there went something wrong while the update. Maybe a file got corrupted or something like that.

Thank You for your big efforts and that you are still supporting your patches. :)

If you installed batterypatch,lock and then unlock will do the trick.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

For a long time, fairly recently, I was changing my settings for kernel-config and something was changing them back to what I had before.

The giveaway was that after I changed my settings to something like the following:

MINFREQ=600
MAXFREQ=600
GOVERNOR=ONDEMAND

and so on

and I would set this as the DEFAULT setting

After I rebooted, the max and min settings would have changed, and the GOVERNOR setting would be back to CONSERVATIVE.

Now I KNEW that the CONSERVATIVE msetting was put there by the patches and CHANGED BACK TO THESE SETTINGS EVEN AFTER I SET THE DEFAULT NOT TO BE CONSERVATIVE GOVERNOR.

This happened to me MANY times. This even happened after I UNINSTALLED the battery patch/speed patch combination.

It is NOT happening to me now. I am positive that those settings were put back by something in the battery patch/speed patch programs.

I didn't mention it online because no real harm was done. But I am making this statement now because the maker of the patch seems to be claiming that nothing like this ever happened to anyone. It happened to me, and I NEVER ONCE voluntarily made that CONSERVATIVE setting because I remembered a discussion by Titan and others in the original overclocking thread that concluded that the conservative setting was NOT HELPFUL.

karam 2012-05-01 05:51

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

@geneven

hmm
well latest versions of batterypatch 8.0 =< are not using conservative anymore

maybe those problem you are talking about used to happen with older versions
tbh bp wasn't stable enough till version 7.5

however the newest ones are tested enough
please recheck and reply as fast as possible

but few points here
you can't set the max and the mix to the same value
it will load the min the one right before the max one ex : in your case 550 would be the min

and of course you get conservative back again (older versions) because bp uses it's own kernel-config settings
so editing them would be from /opt/batterypatch/profiles/overclock-new
or overclock-old (if using an old kernel 48 >=)
thanks

well here you messed up a bit
even older version of batterypatch didn't inject
it's speedpatch that does so

just the experience of what harry had .. proves that there's no way to determinate a result ..

As you've noted multiple times in your own thread, sometimes it will take more than one reboot to "fix" issues around install/uninstall of BP. Also, if this version of BP is old enough to be using 125Mhz, it's probably also old enough to have uninstall issues as well (there were many versions that didn't clean up after themselves very well). Which means that even uninstalling it may not have cleaned it off his system.

it's speedpatch who need more than a reboot
not batterypatch

My comment wasn't as much about injection as it was about using 125Mhz (which was the context of the previous quote). BP was the only tool enabling/using 125Mhz, to my knowledge, since the early Titan kernels. Since he was seeing that frequency in use, it clearly indicated that part of BP remained on his system.

As for the test portion, I understand what you meant. But I don't think the onus should fall on the Kernel folks to develop a test to determine if your patches cleaned themselves up. If anything, that should be a goal you strive to meet as a project owner. As far at they are concerned, their test right now is "do/did you have BP/SP installed", and if so they're directed here to do a proper clean-up before further help is applied on their thread. To be fair, that attitude has developed because after removal most users haven't had to return to the KP thread for help, as the issue was resolved by removal. (There have been exceptions, and at least one actual kernel issue found because of side-effects, but they were in fact a tiny fraction of the cases.)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks / NEW VERSION OF SPEEDPATCH(now uses syspart config, no more xterminal problem) TESTERS NEEDED

Hi karam,
I recently installed Kernel Power v50 and afterwards your Speed-Patch. (Until now I used only stock kernel and no speed patch.)
Before and after installation I did some test with photo viewer, contacts and browser windows.
I installed exactly as required incl. reboots, and the result is stunning.
Although I could not believe it, your patch works very well.
I read several postings claiming it just could not work on the single core OMAP chip of our N900, but I have to say: there is no doubt, multitasking and overall - it feels so much faster.
In one word, it feels as if it had much more RAM inserted!

I also looked into the subfolders of the cgroup folder, and found new integer-named files in user, but did not find new integer entries for other running apps. It remains mystical but it works!

yes it will be completely removed
but note that you MUST update to the latest versions and then remove them if you want
because
SP versions older than 4.0 are not getting removed completely (current latest is 4.0)
BP versions less than 7.5 are not as well (current latest is 8.2)

Hi Karma, first thank you so much for your contribution to this forum. I am used to using both speedpatch and batterypatch before. However, I had to remove the batterypatch due to its instability long ago. I think I did not uninstall it properly because my phone's xterm alwayls shows the min freq 125 MHz. Is there any way that I can set it to 500 MHz (or removing batterypatch completely)? Thanks again.

i dont know what is the matter with speedpatch. i installed the latest version running kp50. after i installed it i rebooted twice. then i used it for a day. suddenly while browsing my cell auto rebooted. but when it turned on no display showed up.my cell turned on but no display. there was a dark gray light on the screen. then i turned it off with the power button which proves that my cell was on. then i turned it on again. it worked for 30mins. suddnely it turned off aagain and same problem.auto reboot. this happened just after a day i installed speedpatch

"but few points here

In fact, you CAN set the max and the min to the same value.

I know because I did it, and I haven't noticed any resulting problems.

Furthermore, if you read the original overclocking thread, you will see that someone (I think it was jakiman) ran lots of tests with max and min set the same.

karam 2012-05-03 13:29

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Speed Patch + Battery Patch + Tweaks --> Everything Needed To Have A Perfect N900

@geneven

is that so ?
hmm well i believe you didn't understand what i said
their won't be problems
you will just have the min freq get set to the freq right before the max one
if they are both same freq
ex :
min : 500
max : 500
then
min 250
max : 500

got it ?
else you can even read faqs at qcpu gui application

@phamgia
i advice you to install batterypatch
and remove it after then
in this case any older versions will be removed too

ps : i have changed batterypatch working method
so if you have a script version for example
then
remove the folder /opt/dbus-scripts

and btw there is a version called
batterypatch-for-unstable
give it a try

@Mohammed Muid
speedpatch has got nothing to do with unexpected reboots
something else must be causing it
maybe updated a program ? maybe messed up with some settings ?

else try to uninstall sp and check if the reboots are gone

@romiiio
those stutters..
well would you try to edit
/opt/batterypatch/profiles/underclock-new
and change the max to 600
let me know what happens with you

Karam - Ok, I edit /opt/batterypatch/profiles/overclock-new and set max freq to 900 and after reboot n900 load my old profile (I set it before installing batterypatch). When I type in terminal: "echo 1000 >> /proc/sys/vm/vfs_cache_pressure" lock it and type "cat /proc/sys/vm/vfs_cache_pressure" - batterypatch is working, but max cpu freq is 805 again :/

EDIT: It's working :) I edit "/usr/share/kernel-power-settings/overclock" too, after reboot I have 500-900MHz clock with batterypatch.

It's my testing config. Working fine, but not much tested under heavy load (this voltage is from ideal profile, I was tested it on 500-900 clock (with smartreflex) before and it was fully stable, but now dsp is higher). Any sugestions for improvments this config ?

EDIT2: It's stable and battery life is really good for me.
I change "Samping_rate" to 150000 and "up_treshold" to 75 (like in "ideal" profile) - better performance for me, but I don't know how much is difference between this in battery life, but working faster on 150000 and 75.

Battery life: I disconnet n900 from charger 11hrs ago (at 8.00 am). Now conky shows 50% of battery - wifi always connected to AP, some internet browsing, some music on headphones, 2calls and about 7hours kadu in backgroud.

Thanks for batterypatch, it;s really good work, after set ideal profile voltages and 500-900clock :).

installed batterypatch again and the phone hangs while I make phonecalls....is there any option to change in overclock-in call profile so that I can make it more stable?

Hy to all.
For me the speed patch realy works. It has no placebo effect as some users says.
My N900 was verry slow before de patch even though it was set to min 900 mgh and maxim 900 mgh :)
thanks again man :).
