Problem: Control rendering issues in opera after updating and restoring a backup.
Solution: Switching theme, rebooting, switching theme back.

Problem: Thumbboard text entry requires more pressure than before patch
Solution: Control Panel->Text Entry->Thumbboard->Adjust sensitivity

Google maps displays no data/info in the bubbles above red markers on the map

Google maps has a hard time expanding the bubble to more information, resizing several times and struggling.

-> contact google to have them help create a googlemaps application for the tablet

youtube stutters upon starting video load until its fully buffered

it does not take too long to crash the browser on youtubes page

-> work with youtube to create a custom app that allows more resources to be used for video playing (like iPhone, Helio, etc)

I would REALLY like to see an ad blocker software (like Ad Blocker + for the tablet, to reduce flash and banners loaded.)

ill keep an eye out for more bugs

tried to put the vista theme from
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ht=vista+theme

and when I download the Vista.deb file to change my theme the application manager opens and says :

Install?
Vista.deb
0 kB

I thought maybe this was a bad backup, so I reflashed it with the new OS image without any backup... and I get
"Unable to install. Installation file corrupted" But on the last previous OS it was just fine. Anyone else having problems installing downloaded files?

Problem: Can't seem to install Python, UKtube, Motion detector camera.
Application manager keeps stating missing files.

Solution: I have not resloved this yet.

Minimo crashes after a few seconds trying to pull up a site

Hey guys, is there any way to reflash the last firmware? I updated my N800 yesterday, but then I loaded a backup and I want to try a fresh update to see what happens.

just as you would flash anything else. run the tablet software update wizard again and you can have a clean slate.

On CNN.COM site, video seems to download but.. kind of hangs there.

Anyone experiencing troubles with watching CNN.com video on the Nokia N800 with the latest firmware upgrade installed. ?

Problem: Wifi signal strength not displayed in the status bar while connected to an adhoc network. Also within Connection Manager the only info displayed is the name of the connection and its type, in this case adhoc. When connected at a hot-spot signal strength is displayed, as normal before an otherwise painless OS flash.

Fix? TIA

Problem:
conflict between Opera and Gmail notifyer. THey seem to freeze each other. While loading page I get "connection error" report in the notifyer ( never happened with former firmware). I have to do check inbox in notifyer to get Opera resume loading pages. I rebooted twice. Pb still here.

It looks like my Navicore software is hosed as well. It starts on the splash screen, goes white for a second, hits the splash again, then dies. meh.

Flash was working well for me on YouTube, though.

I solved the python installation issues by reflashing and installing python *before* restoring my backups...

This happen to me on the last version. There is something corrupt on sd card. Back it up on pc then format.

I have problem booting from SD card (http://maemo.org/community/wiki/HowT...From_MMC_card), I can't connect to wi-fi network, application manager hangs on load

After updating the firmware I did avarything from the beginning, no backup

Did it work for anybody with new firmware?

SImilar or related problem to conflict between Opera and Gmail notifyer

When loading Youtube page or ITT forum Opera FREEZES (on a white page) for a while. I have to STOP the loading, then RELOAD the page. Sometimes it resumes loading - very fast-, sometimes it s still frozen. Frustrating...
It does not happen with all websites. some load normally. Actually faster.

This has been addressed a few times now:

pick a new theme and apply it. If you would rather your previous theme simply go back to it. Scroll bars and other missing items will reappear.

Something hosed my 8GB SDHC card. It seemed to happed when I started UKMP. The program started to scan then crashed. Just after that my card went read-only, and a few albums and files turned to gobbledy-gook. I could not do anything to the card from linux or winXP, except copy the good stuff from it, then reformat. This did fix the issue, but kind of a pita. Also - transfer from the card was fast enough - transfer to the card was painfully slow. Has anyone noticed slower than normal transfer rates to the SDHC card?

Can someone send me a link to old N800 firmware.

I think I'll try to reflash the old firmware and then install Python.
I will then reflash with new firmware to see if it works.

This is giving me a headache, to much troubleshooting for users.

While downloading SpotYah, pYsearch and PontMiller from http://my.opera.com/monroe to test them. PontMiller would never show up on the device. It could be a problem with the long filename ( python2.5-pontmiller_1.0.1-1_armel.deb Four tries to four different locations).

Solution : On PontMiller, I finally opened the file in the Application Manager instead of saving it to the device.

All threes Apps did perform ok after testing.

Reflash current firmware and make python the first thing you install. If you use Canola, make it the second install, it also seems sensitive.
Some people report difficulties when they use a restore. Maybe you want to skip that for the time being.

After flashing I did not restore anything, installed Navicore from the original SD card and it
works without any problem. So try to install the deb-file from the card on a freshly flashed N800.

Ok I have reflashed with the new firmware.
I'm trying to refresh the application manager folder.
So that I can install Python 2.5
It hangs on the downloading mode.

Possible Problem: Linksys B router, application manager hangs when
downloading software. WEP enabled

Possible Solution: When I am at a internet cafe, Linksys G router,
WEP Disabled, Software download runs perfectly.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I keep on geting, "missing files" message.
Here is a list of the files I'm missing:

Libncurse5
Libreadline4

This is really frustrating!!!!

a) Skype is displaying times in GMT -- even though my local time and city are set correctly on my tablet. Some others have observed that the skypeout credit was being displayed in euros... this can actually be changed by setting your personal profile appropiately at www.skype.com.

b) Some reported problems with accessing secure web pages with Opera perhaps are due to the fact that by default Opera comes with support for SSL v2 disabled. You have to enable it via the preferences menus.

c) The Opera browser continues to exhibit shortcomings in handling Web 2.0 applications such as the Google apps... we truly need a more advanced version of Opera -- I wonder if Nokia can deliver on that.

d) Flash v9. While I can get YouTube and NYTimes video to play ok... the CNN web site videos do not seem to play at all.

Problem: internet connection fails after backup (e.g. application manager is not updating, ...)
Remark: previously privoxy installed --> switching off/back proxy setting doesn't work
Solution: delete and recreate the internet connection

Problem confirmed: Downloading software from a Linksys B, WEP enabled,
Application manager hangs.
Downloading software from a Linksys G, WEP disabled,
Application manager works fine.

Problem: I still can not install Python 2.5. Missing files message
I've been to every site you can find Python, no luck.
Its either Python is not compatible with the new firmware, or
the new firmware has to be corrected.

I am going to wait this week for Nokia to straight out these issues.

I didn't buy a N800 for having headaches.

I had no trouble installing python 2.5, its not the ubdate. The gods must be smiling on me, I havn't had any problems at all with the new firmware... (He says as his n800 bursts into flames...) ;)
