Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
Happened two times up till now: all the desktop applets disappear.
Two different situations; first one: i changed theme and the applets disappeard - second one: unlocked the device pressing power+dpad center, pressed backlight icon on statusbar, all the screen became blank, waited 10 seconds and the screen is been refreshed but all applets are gone. Solution: restore the applets through the desktop menu :( second time it proposed me a different layout, but choosing ignore layout just restored the applets as they were located before  |

After a restart all applets were back again. Does already a bugreport exist? |

Unless you have a critically ill touchscreen or a morbid desire to use Skype, just go back to the previous firmware, because nothing else in this piece of [deleted] software is making things better for your N800. |

Sorry, but i have a "morbid desire" to use Skype.

[QUOTE=Milhouse;58223]Maybe someone should open a bug in Bugzilla for this problem? I wonder if this gconftool setting (discussed here) has now become the default in the new firmware? It might be worth trying the old value: Code:
gconftool-2 --set --type int '/system/osso/connectivity/IAP/wlan_sleep_timeout' '1000'Type that into xterm. I agree we should open a bug in Bugzilla for this problem. |

As fixes don't seem to arrive before the holidays I'll reflash to old firmware. The new one is too unstable for my taste, even with the fixed screen issues.

Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
Slow internet page loading (and some not at all):
Hi all. We own 2 N800s (my wife kept taking mine, so had to buy a 2nd!) I flashed only one with the new firmware and did a side-by-side comparison. On our home network, we CANNOT access Gmail or iGoogle, yet all is fine with YouTube on the newly flashed device. For Google, all we see is "connecting" and the page never loads. Page loading on most other web pages is significantly slower on the new firmware N800. I went back and re-flashed to the prior version and all is back to original load times. Also, secure web pages, such as my bank (Washington Mutual) and financial institutions (Franklin Templeton) are much much slower on the new firmware. If I connect using my Blackberry (Cingular), the same still applies. We have a Linksys Wireless-B router on our home network. Any and all suggestions are appreciated as I did enjoy the new upgrade (when it did work) |
Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
Weird, my homepage is my iGoogle page. It loads just fine. Maybe try reloading the new firmware and not restore any of your previous info? I had issues with the restore.

Also discovered that a setting of 500 ms slowed it down just a bit but I found no browsing timeouts or issues using it with Linksys, Belkin, Cisco, and Apple wi-fi routers. I think that's the "sweet spot" in the N800's wi-fi power-drain vs. speed arena. |

Milhouse
I did not restore from backup (as per many other threads); however, I did as you suggested and now the browsing experience is amazing. I changed the timeout setting to 1000 and all is great. Thanks so much for your help. |

Can you add a comment in bug #1636 with the details of your router - make, model and firmware? If you don't want to create an account, post the details here and I'll cut & paste them into Bugzilla although it's better if you do it yourself as you can also vote on the bug which increases the likelihood of it being fixed in future. :) |
Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
# Up to 8GB Memory Card support. Over 2GB Must be SDHC???? so this means the 2 4gb sd cards i use now wont work anymore? did anyone verify this?
|
Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
@RioT: AFAIK 4GB "nonstandard" SD cards that worked before continue to work with the new firmware. I'm 99% certain I saw a posting saying this.
As to the card corruption problem: Some see it, others don't. Could it be hardware differences? Maybe everybody with SDHC cards (to limit this a bit) could post the following: - SDHC corruption Yes / No - N800 made in Korea / N800 made in Finland (it's printed underneath the cover) |

Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
Here are my issues:
1) When I open more than one Opera window when browsing, quite often the browser starts hopping back and forth in between the two browser windows like it's stuck in a loop. You can see the title bar at the top switching between page titles. Solution: Perhaps wait until the other page loads for it to stop, or keep clicking the title bar until one window stays on top. 2) Lost the ability to click and hold the stylus on a link and have the "open in new window" option pop up. Solution: Hold stylus down on the link and then select copy link, then open a new window manually and paste it in the address bar. 3) When I'm connected via bluetooth to my phone and the bluetooth icon is lit up, when i click on disconnect from a6102i (my phone's name), it never disconnects. Solution (if you call it one): I have to disable bluetooth for it to disconnect. 4) Quite often when I'm browsing, the browser with crash with an "Internal Error" message and close all my browser windows. Solution:None yet These are all I can think of for now. Sorry I don't have any solutions real yet, but more of workarounds. Skype might not have been worth the firmware upgrade for me if these simple usability issues keep cropping up. Is anyone else having these issues? |

Also my N800 does not respond when I use my thumb/finger on the screen, no thumb board or thumb menus pop up (yes I've gone to "text input settings" to get things to work). I hope a patch comes soon!! It responds 2% of the time. |

Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
I have just read the last three pages of this topic. I have had none of the issues mentioned here.
When I updated the firmware, I reinstalled everthing and restored nothing. I just kept the documents / music files, which were on SD cards. Perhaps it's restoring that's fouling the new firmware. Rik |

Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
I actually had to dust my n800 off. I only went back to it a few days ago (where the hell did I put my bluetooth keyboard). First thing I did after wondering why I hadn't used it in so long (turns out it was cause its hard to fit in my pants pocket) was to upgrade the firmware and redo dual boot. Now, besides canola not scanning any of my music or videos, My device is working fine, even with the new browser.
My point, is try reflashing. |
Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
Okay, somehow I clicked on the wrong forum. Long story short, the screen gets snowy (but with lines and blocks) when I turn on the N800 and wake it up. It lasts about 20-30 seconds.
I used the 770 Flasher app for Mac. I hope this is not a result of using that software, but I can not know if it is the firmware or the flasher app. |

Re: Official: 4.2007.26-8 Firmware Problems & Fixes
with regards to the network connection problems. The setting of /system/.../IAP/wlan_sleep_timeout to 1000 had no effect. But when i adjusted /system/.../IAP/timeout_wlan to 1000, i had much better connectivity. Now i have them both set to 500, and my home net connection kind of works. Do these config variables need to be the same or close?
I still think the whole setup needs tweaking though. This is because shortly after implementing the above, I attempted listening to a real-media stream from the bbc7 listen again site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/listenagain/saturday/ Specifically: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/listenagai.../rams/1200.ram My N800 Happily launched the media player, but every now and again it would just play gibberish built up from portions of the stream, or a mishmash of other gibberish overlayed on the playing stream. I tried to see if i could adjust the buffering to compensate, but i could not find any way of doing it. |
