Nitdroid: EMMC or Class 10 Microsd?
Hello all,
Should I install Nitdroid to my EMMC or buy a class 10 microSD. Does one perform better than the other, and what would happen if I was to boot the n900 without the microSD inside? Also are there any other Pro's that one has over the other? |
Re: Nitdroid: EMMC or Class 10 Microsd?
Emmc should be faster than a class 10 microsd card.

nitdroid running from emmc is very fast for me, but I only tried it with a class 6 card (and it was really slow)

Those benchmarks only covered read and write speeds. Those do not translate to OS and application startup performance and runtime performance.
Compare these results: sakoman.com/OMAP/microsd-card-perfomance-test-results.html Here we have Patriot Class 10 booting in 6177 seconds, and Sandisk Class 2 booting in 1803 seconds! |
Re: Nitdroid: EMMC or Class 10 Microsd?
I wonder how fast the TOPRAM 16GB Class 10 MicroSDHC card is, if the class 4 card is that fast :/

Re: Nitdroid: EMMC or Class 10 Microsd?
Probably same speed as the other class 10 cards.

Re: Nitdroid: EMMC or Class 10 Microsd?
SD Card Speeds are measured using large block transfers. So a 10 Speed card can do a minimum of 10MB/Sec write using large files. However, most brands have bad small block transfers. Sandisk has the fastest of all brands for this despite being a class 4 or something and is good for OS usage.
