Battery App/Widget

hi folks!

i used to have a green battery status widget/app on my desktop, i downloaded it from the app manager when i bought my n900. its the one with the fat horizontal green battery icon that displays the remaining power in %.

my n900 crashed a few weeks ago. whilst i am able to find pictures of the app/widget online, i cant find it in the app manager although its one of the very standard ones.

can anyone tell me the name and where i can find it?

Hi, it look like it is 'battery', and you can install it as root with :

Code:

apt-get install battery

Re: Battery App/Widget

is there any similar widget but with more features closer to nokia battery monitor for symbian devices?

http://store.ovi.com/content/132519

not only percentage value, but also estimate time remaining using current load (texting, listening to music, view map with gps on)
and it also shows time estimate until fully charged when charging

http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/...-Devices-2.jpg

edit
okay my apology for this huge pic. is there any way to show only thumbnail in this forum without have to resize it manually or upload it to another image hosting site?

If you dont find it in AppManager, here are the steps to install it

1) Open X Terminal ( either press Ctrl+Shift+X or go to Menu->System->X Terminal
2) type sudo gainroot (to login as root)
3) type apt-get install battery
This will install the battery application
4) type exit to close the X Terminal window

you are all set !

Re: Battery App/Widget

I see that this widget uses the standard %, is it not possible to use % by titan kernel? with bq27x00 module?

pali 2011-06-10 10:13

Re: Battery App/Widget

If you have loaded bq27x00_battery module, battery widget (battery package) will show % from power kernel.

Nokia's Battery monitor is now rewriiten in QT so i guess its poosible to get it ported to Maemo too...

Anyone willing to port it??

iscio 2011-06-11 06:33

Re: Battery App/Widget

but in your opinion is it more corrected % by nokia or % by bq27x00 module? because now I have empty battery, the first % is 0% and the second is 24%

unless its source code is publicly released then there's no chance for regular user to port it. we can only hope for nokia to release it for maemo then
anyhow thanks for the info

Re: Battery App/Widget

is it possible to have a new release with the possibility to resize the image to 0,5 or 0,4? thanks

pali 2011-06-20 14:18

Re: Battery App/Widget

It is really needed? Now size 0.6 is very small and I think 0.4 will be unreadable.

Re: Battery App/Widget

1 Attachment(s)
this is my screenshot, as you can see I'd like a small battery widget

Ok. Here is untested recompiled battery widget with configurable size from 0.4 to 1.5

Unpack it and replace in /usr/lib/hildon-desktop/

Note: It is really untested!
