Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
This game is using swirl gesture for zooming in Qt: Happy Frog.
By the way, I don't see this game in Extras. |
Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
Nice to see this program translated now.
Two remarks: - The about screen is still not centered correctly in portrait on the N900, so a part is not readable. Maybe you decided to leave it this way, but I got no reply on this earlier. - Looks like you have mixed up modRana an Mieru again :). In the about is says "Dou you like modRana?". It is spelled incorrectly and not translated using the corresponding language string. |

Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
Hey, I'm trying out Mieru for the first time on a stock (non-cssu) N900. But when I try to run it, I get an error message talking about "No module named dbus". From a bit of googling, it seems that I'd probably need to install python-dbus from somewhere; but I'm not sure exactly where to find it. Is there a preferred way to pull down python-dbus, or perhaps have I installed Mieru incorrectly (and python-dbus should have already been installed)? Thanks!

You can also try to run it with the QML interface when you are at it: Code:
python /opt/mieru/mieru.py -p maemo5 -u QMLThanks for testing ! :) |

Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
Just installed 2.4.14 on the N9 from the store and I have the following problem:
Viewing .zip files tapping next page on the last page jumps to the LAST page of the next file and not to the first page. |

I found that it was trying to load history even for chapters that were opened automatically (so if there was a record in the history for the next chapter that it was last time open on the last page, it would open it on the last page and not on the first). It should be fixed in 2.4.16 & I've already submitted an update to Ovi store. As it might take a few days to go through QA, you can in the meantime grab the updated package from the Mieru cutting edge repository. Just note that I'm not really sure how it would interact with the Ovi-installed Mieru package. :) |

Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
Latest updates have definitively improved the usability, thanks.
I have two small feature requests. Could you implement an option for continuous scrolling such as in a PDF reader so there will be no need to tap on the screen to change the page? Second one, it's usual to have a collection of comics in which some of them are in CBR/CBZ format but also some are in PDF format. In that circumstance, when finishing a comic which is previous to a PDF document, the tap to open next comic is not working, obviously. Could you offer an option in that case, to open the PDF file with the external document reader or open the next valid file? |

This together with swirl zoom and online repositories will probably be the main development focus after the competition. :) Quote:

Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
I'm unable to open any manga.
Output in terminal: Code:
Open mangaMieru version V2.4.15 git:e062afa I was using it a lot earlier ( before QML gui times ) and it worked fine. Also, at a time of writing this post, when mieru was in info view(where the version number is) and it sometimes segfaulted while I was writing in MicroB. Great app BTW. |

EDIT: It segfaulted without microb, only with fast minimise --> maximise cycles. Although it took more time to segfault that way. |

Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
Feature request: using kinetic scrolling to change pages (with horizontal swipes), not just scroll the current page up and down.
I would also appreciate an option to turn the volume control shortcut for turning pages off. I prefer that the volume control controls volume, not whatever random thing the currently open app uses it for. |
Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
I wan't to note some things...
1) Mieru takes a lot of time to load... And nothing is displayed while doing it... So I allways end with several Mieru instances open... As much as I hate them I think a splash screen is needed. 2) Current page should be "remembered" at each page change, not just when the application is closed, because when it crashes it's a pain to look for the last page. 3) If the saved page / folder doesn't exist anymore, (was deleted or unmounted) it takes lot's of time to open mieru... It also opens in the binary folder and no in the user home. 4) Refreshing the image list: If some images are added to the current folder, Mieru doesn't detect them... Think about reading while downloading from an online reader. 5)Keyboard shortcuts for: Zoom + Zoom - Fit width Fit height 1:1 Fit page Prev. Page Next Page. While a better solution is made, would be greatly apreciated. |

And as a thank you...
Here is my script to download from mangareader It's ugly but works for me... Requires to install: bash wget Takes for argument a url of any mangareader manga page. Keeps downloading from there, untill the last page of the las chapter available for that manga. Code:
./mangareader.sh http://www.mangareader.net/111-3640-1/20th-century-boys/chapter-1.html |

Regarding kinetic scrolling on the old Clutter GUI - it would be quite complicated to add. The kinetic scrolling algorithm is already custom written & extending it for this would be probably quite difficult. And the as the Clutter GUI currently runs only on PR 1.3 N900 without CSSU & the QML GUI is used everywhere else, extending it is unfortunately not a priority. |

I already have splashscreen for Harmattan & BB10, so modifying it for Fremantle should be easy. Quote:

BTW, I'll probably start with supporting Batato & Manga Access, as all others seem to convert all their content to JPEG with horrible compression artifacts everywhere. :) |
Re: [Announce] Mieru: a flexible manga and comic book reader
Mieru port to BB10 is now finally available from the BlackBerry (App)World ! :)
To install it, visit the Mieru page in World, search for "Mieru" in appworld or just scan this QrCode with the World application http://modrana.org/images/qrcodes/mi...rld_qrcode.png (to switch to the QrCode scanning mode in the World application, swipe from the upper border of the screen and in the menu that shows up, select read barcode) Testing & feedback is welcome ! :) And of course, you can also donate for the good Mieru cause :) https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/..._donate_LG.gif http://api.flattr.com/button/flattr-badge-large.png bitcoin:1ETsN9q7xgwMjVtZMHFoxe65hWeghgxN17 |
