Re: Skype quality experience
Ok. Now I found it. Dont know if it makes difference that I wrote Echo123 this time, but yeasterday when I wrote echo123 it didnt find name like that.
Anyway.. Sound was good. No problem at all. For some reason when I did call before to my friends Skype Linux, sound was really bad. But Echo123 test call did sound/work really well. |

The callme feature of echo123 seems to work only occasionally. But there is another, better skype echo robot: echo-chinese. It has a nicer girl and longer recording time. |
Re: Skype quality experience
My experiences with Skype so far have been pretty good.
My first few calls were local, to my son and wife's cellphones. Call quality was great. Just sitting with the N800 on the desk the sound quality on both sides was excellent. Yesterday I called a friend in Italy, and the sound quality was better than my cell, that's for sure, and with no lag time! Except...Skype froze, twice, and required a restart of the N800...ack! I am thrilled with the inclusion of Skype, so this is not a knock. I mean, it could have been the network...I don't know, maybe dropped signal, though I wasn't moving. I have a lot of testing still to do, and expect that there will be some improvements on the back end that will resolve these issues, if indeed there are any...the jury's still out, so to speak. The verdict is in, at least for me, on this N800 vs iphone debate. That's in another thread, I know, but here I want to say clearly that I LOVE my N800 and wouldn't trade it for even the fanciest new phonebrick on the block! The inclusion of Skype is just one more reason to use/love it. I'll post the rest o this rant elsewhere. Peace |

Re: Skype quality experience
I got my N800 yesterday and went straight to getting it updated with the latest firmware. I had a couple of great-sounding N800 -> overseas landline conversations without headphones but both crashed after ~8 minutes.
I haven't been able to use Skype ever since. It usually loads and then crashes right after I see my contact list for a split second. All other tools and my wifi seem to be working fine. What's up with that? Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I return it or exchange it? |

Report your issues with as much information as possible in Skype developer bug tracking. https://developer.skype.com/jira

Re: Skype quality experience
I flashed it again, no restore this time... I logged in with a "clean" Skype account that doesn't have as many contacts and phone numbers to remember. It works very well so far and hopefully it will stay this way.
Did you have a ton of contacts in your list? |
Re: Skype quality experience
I had only 3 contacts. I read the limit for the Nokia Skype client was 200.

Re: Skype quality experience
I have three contacts on this one too... My last skype to skype call timed out at ~10 minutes.
I skipped setting up google talk this time. The connected icon would blink on and off almost every time, so I don't trust it. All the other apps that I thought would interfere with Skype are back on. It works for now - I'll keep checking it every time I install something. |
