Updates July 12, 2011 v0.7
July 5, 2011 v0.6
July 4, 2011 v0.5 I've been stressing a little about the look and feel (or lack of a native one) for the application so development hasn't been as quick as I had hoped. But here is an update non the less.
June 22, 2011 v0.0.2
June 20, 2011
Original Announcement A few days ago I started making a LinkedIn client that I hope will do everything everyone needs it to. I've implemented the core functionality (it's still only about 30%-40% complete) and the general look and feel. Now I'm looking for people to try it out and request features. Before this application, I wasn't really a big LinkedIn user (and I'm still getting used to it) so I would really like to hear from some users as to what they need from this application, and I'll do my best to implement it! Do you want to contribute? If you're interested in the development of this app but don't have any feature ideas, you can help by connecting with me on LinkedIn (my name is Anthony Naddeo and my email is anthony.naddeo@gmail.com). The more connections I have the better I'll be able to handle the content that the app should control. Current features are very basic at this time, but this app is no where near done. Features
Planned
Limitations
I've tested it and havn't had any problems authenticating, but if something happens you can always restart the process doing these two things:

Thanks for this, had been searching online for any app for LinkedIn. Would test and note any additional tips to aid your kind work.

Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
bump for import into extras-devel. hopefully get some more testers
|
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Thanks for the app. Trying it right now. Only thing I would really like is connecting as colleagues but if its a linkedin limitation then I guess I'll have to live with that :)
A possible feature would be to be able to choose which profile to show as you can have more than one in different languages. I don't have more than one nor do most of my friends seem to so I can not test if the feature is already there :) Ps. It looks better in black :P |

Definitely a doable feature, I'll add it to the list above. I'm going to upload a new version soon that has a "News" feature... we'll see how that works! |

I would rate this application as the best forever to all the professionals..... Thanks a Ton ..... |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Hello ,tried it again and it works now ....Awesome !!!
Great application..... Can you add the messages ,invitation ,inbox and if possible desktop widget ... Again and again i thank for your wonderful work .... Aaron :D |

As for the inbox, I dont know why but linkedin doesn't allow applications to get messages. I think they're addressing security concerns at the moment, so all they allow me to do is send messages, which you can do by going to someones profile and hitting the message button below their face. As soon as they fix this im going to put it in. Thanks for the support! EDIT: To clarify for other that experience the same "problem". Someone has mentioned it before... the text box on the pin code screen only accepts numbers, but it doesn't auto num lock the key pad for you. If you think you have same issue, make sure you are actually entering numbers until I figure out how to force numlock in QML. |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Hi, thanks for the work, I very much appreciate to have a Linkedin app in Maemo... nice!
I did install successfully the application, but when it opens and redirects in a new window to web browser to find the PIN code, it shows this address: "https://api.linkedin.com/uas/oauth/a...e?oauth_token=" (is it incomplete??) which after loading the page changes to "https://www.linkedin.com/uas/oauth/a...e?oauth_token=" and shows the message: "We were unable to find the authorization token" I have tried several times and also with opera, but same outcome. The application is already updated to last version. I basically donīt get any PIN which I can use to validate the appilcation... Any ideas what I am doing wrong here? Thanks! |

Do you have community ssu or any optimization scripts installed that might not be on most other people's phones? Are you in the us? It might have to do with the fact that i authorize through GETs instead of POSTs like they say... but idk how that would explain your situation.... Ill look more into it this afternoon. if it doesnt resolve itself then it would help me organize things if you listed this as a bug on my tracker at http://code.google.com/p/linkedup/issues/list |

Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Problem solved!
Without doing anything (donīt know if application was updated), just opened LinkedUp and was directed to the right web address to authorise. Somehow, now the token number appears at the end of the address, which it didn't before. And I obtained the PIN successfully Now itīs working perfectly and the application looks great! I donīt have the community SSU or any other modifications. The only application installed that tweaks a bit the 'system' is Swappolube, but I doubt any conflict between the two. No idea why it happened. Iīm in Spain. Thanks for your help and the great work! |

In any case, thanks for the support! I should be updating the app with Job search and job bookmarking / suggestions around Tuesday so stay tuned. |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Absolutely love the new job searching, job bookmarking feature. This to me is what makes your LinkedUp app brilliant.
Well done antman8969 |

I already think that my implementation of the Job feature is more accessible than the full site's. It took me a while to even find where on linkedin.com you can see your bookmarked jobs... |
Pincode Problem
For those who are facing the 'pincode problem': There seems to be an issue with the Time stamp: If your N900's clock is set early or late, the LinkedIN server will give you an error message. Simply set your N900 to the correct time and you should be able to retrieve a pincode.

Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
The best ever client on N900. I just loved the way u've wanted it and made it. Can i ask for a feature that can allow some background color or image?? or just transparent?? And I am inspired by LinkedUp to make apps for Maemo now. I would like to know what u needed to learn to make such a superb app. I feel this UI is the fastest among any clients on N900.

Yea that would be possible (pretty easily actually). As soon as I get to doing the "settings" menu it is when I could think about it. Development has slowed as I've gotten into Harmattan and I need to change the app to be compatible with it. I'm glad to hear you're inspired. The best thing you can do right now is google stuff! But as a briefer, what you want to download is QtCreator, and what you want to learn is C++ and QML! If you ever need a model of something to work off of, the source code for linkedup can be found at http://linkedup.googlecode.com . You might want to look at my other weather application first because it's a lot simpler, http://qtweather.googlecode.com |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Strange, now I when I enter LinkedUp and press any of the buttons nothing happens. I can't even enter Settings to see if there is something wrong in the account.
It's been a while since last time I used the application but the only change I can think of in the phone is the installation of latest CSSU. |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML

I have the CSSU installed as well Regards |

Is this app still being maintained and/or does anyone have any suggestions or cures for the above issue? I have the latest CSSU installed by the way. |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Quote:
I need to review the notes for the CSSU. My suspicious is that they updated Qt. I do notice that the latest version breaks my application on Maemo. I don't know how easy this will be to fix at the moment either without a complete rewrite of the UI. The underlying problem here is not having any UI components to use. If the qtquick components were ported to Maemo then the Harmattan version would work fine. As it stands, I'm maintaining two separate applications (one for Maemo and one for Harmattan) and it gets difficult as time progresses. If I come up with a good solution I'll be sure to post it... for the time being, CSSU apparently cannot be used with LinkedUp. The application is still very rough however, so I would not advise anyone to remove CSSU just to use it quite yet... |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Why this application is not promoted for extra-testing, I have been using this application since the first version of this app was release and no any major issue I have came across.
Please promote this app to extra - testing so that other user can provide feedback too |

Right now, you can read news and add people and companies, but you cannot remove any of them or use the group discussion feature. The CSSU issue only compounds things; as more people install CSSU, less people will be able to use LinkedUp for some unknown reason. I don't want to promote an application to testing prematurely as I believe extras should be a place for complete applications. |
Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
Any chance to see a fix for CSSU users?
To my understanding, this is only a matter of fixing focus on elements to be able to press on them. There were bugs in Qt 4.7.0 for QML that have been fixed in latest 4.7.4 version included in CSSU, so the most possible cause of the problem is a hack to work with old version of Qt that is no longer needed. Other possibility is porting QML version for Harmattan now that QtComponents for Freemantle is "almost" working". |

I just installed the stable CSSU on my n900 and its looking good. I don't have a great cross platform solution yet but I do plan on fixing (and continuing) the application for Maemo. Unfortunately I am usually busy during the academic year and have to be stingy with my spare time. Starting around May I plan to pick it back up, as well as a few other apps... In the meantime, it is open source! https://gitorious.org/harmttan/linkedup EDIT: Here is the maemo version's source, http://code.google.com/p/linkedup/so...ches%2Fremodel |

Re: [Announce] LinkedUp- A LinkedIn client in QML
While MeeIn isn't working anymore, i found this app at openrepos, but i'm not able to install it. After trying to install the .deb, it sais that it's not able to install because of dependencies...
