Does anyone knows this device will support BT keyboards, or only BT-NFC enabled ones or none? Will come in handy, for those used to hardware feedback whilse typing :)

Re: N9: It's finally here

If the phone isn't on sale until the 23. of september which was suggested, selling it to the customers will be a challenge. Isn't the Nokia World on the same day?
And they're announcing the first wp there. And if the talk about the faster launching is correct, it's probably on sale within a month.
Or maybe that's what Elop's trying to do, making people forget about the N9, the leaked Sea Ray clip would certainly suggest so.

NFC is just for easy pairing, doesn't transmit anything after that, so I'll guess any BT keyboard will do.

But what I want is an e-ink bluetooth keyboard, so I can change layouts on the fly, or even output some text to it :)

Re: N9: It's finally here

A word on availability:
on Nokias page, in the Availability list, Norway isn't listed. But carrier Telenor has gone out and said that they have an exclusive agreement with Nokia, and will be the sole distributor of N9 in Norway. So that indicates that there are loop holes in that availability list.

It also means that N9 will be available through an abusive former monopolist company, so I would still look at parallel import.

Re: N9: It's finally here

I'm not sure if its true or not.

I guess all countrys get it pretty much at the same time as all prevoius phones like n900.

nokia store could sell it before carriers, but im sure its pretty much the same date.

Re: N9: It's finally here

as much as I want a hardware keyboard I think I will get an n9. Its the first time I have two choices stick with my n900 or get the n9. I would love the 64gb for all my music on my phone, and the rest of the specs are awesome.

My only question is. There is no U.S. release date ?

mikecomputing 2011-06-25 13:40

Re: N9: It's finally here

My wild guess how MrFlop and his Microsoft will kill N9 is that they release an WP7 version of the phone. That means we all have to wait to October even if WP version will not come to sweden(my country for example) at the start...

And as we know we have already seen his "leaked video" My guess is it will also has exact same name and same UI that way no one will ever now the different.

Until in some year when they realise theyr freedom is gone and Microsoft and carriers has full control of the mobile users

Btw. It was also me heard one carrier in sweden said 23 sept but it was a preliminary time they gopt from Nokia, so my guess is this can change...

i previously wondered if you can disable the swipe when using games.
Check out the video from 2:50 - 3:00 and you'll see he has to pause it to swipe it off. so looks like apps/games can override the swipe control.

True, but the thing is this Swedish carrier is the only one to give the date and even says it's a estimate. I'm not doubting that most of the countries, especially Nordic will get it at same time. I'm doubting that the date is right at all.

Oh, my mistake.
But I still think that the announcal of the wp will eat away the N9's market.

We will see. Nokias top managment can always change their mind. But on a national level. I'm guess this is the date.

On a side-note, why do all the major phone OS's nowadays (including the N9 apparently) have just a huge grid-list of installed apps? I use catorise on my N900 and I could seriously never go back. Browsing all those icons is so unnecessary and time consuming.

wasn’t the n9 supposed to come with a micro-sim module? but on this hands-on picture from slashgear you can see it is a normal sized sim-card.

Yes, sorry, should've flagged that up. Nokia had a few different prototypes - some using mini SIMs and some using micro SIMs. The commercial N9 will use a micro SIM.

Meego will still be supported by Nokia here :D

Yeah files would have been better, though at least you get search.

I have wondered this myself before. Both IOS and Android are proud of the system search and talk about it likes it's a big thing, but on my GS, iphone 4 and ipad 2 i have never used it. Do some people actually use that search to get to certain app or bookmark?

I think you are going really light on him. Isn't it a more harsh punishment to force him to use a WP7 phone the rest of his life. Even better yet, have him read the entire EPIC N9 anticipation thread every day using the WP7 phone.

Here in Finland i see N9 eating up WP version easily.

N900 was huge seller here so people are a bit more familiar with Maemo and maybe quite a bit of people that don't connect linux to something negative.
Used Windows Phones in other hand are going for silly low prices and many services are not available here yet for WP. In general they are not getting anything sold, though i think they will sell quite good here once the Nokia sticker is in place.

Seeing that WP might not be here on a first wave Nokia also knows this.

Its not clear though, whether what this user @youtube is claiming, is correct.
My understanding of 3.5mm AV-out, is that it's limited to lesser formats than 720p.
But I'm not certain if that's "set in stone".....

But FInland, sweden, norway are so very small market. So even if n9 will beat windows every day. Other countries might go for win7, bigger countires.

N900 was Finlands largest unlocked phone sellers, verkkokauppa.com most sold smartphone for 2 months and you had 2 months waiting if you ordered the phone on release date. Largest carrier, Sonera/Saunalahti also had it as their best selling smartphone for a month.

I don't think you are going to find other country where you could have seen 3 months after N900's release that phone every other day. :D

Oh no i'm not even saying by a long shot that in a bigger picture it makes any difference. I was simply just talking about Finland and that N9 is most likely going to sell here more at first than WP.
Scandinavia+Finland together is quite big of a market for smartphones where example Samsung has been feeding it's smartphones, but Finland was very alone with the N900. I don't believe that example people over at Sweden, Norway where anymore eager to get N900 than in Germany.
Hell, iphone owns 31% of the smartphone market even in Finland so Nokia isn't getting it all free anymore even in the very core Nokia market.

Guys, I don't get the finnish article. I think it is planted seeds to grow hate. Stir up the hive.

Because read here: http://www.tu.no/forbruker/article288395.ece

“People don’t need to worry about we not supporting MeeGo wholeheartedly.” – Oskar Södergren, Communication Manager Nokia Scandinavia

He says that WP7 is and will be the main platform, but MeeGo still lives as the disruptor.

Even a Norwegian representative said the same thing.

What do expect him to say? It's his job to actually make sure the device will be sold. Elops job is to make sure nokia stock get a low prize so Microsoft can buy it cheap!
