If you wanted to see the background image, you might as well use the stock lock screen.
And what rainbows are you talking about? It's a gradient, not a rainbow. If I wanted a girlish and homosexual lock screen, it would look like this:

Also please do note the pixel density on the N900. (do you know what pixel density means?) Anyways, the things onscreen are a lot smaller on the N900.

BTW, would you like me to pay for a pink Colorware job on your N900? LOLNO that ****'s expensive, and I'm not getting paid to do design work for OSS projects I love.

i find a single tap too unsecure (insecure?). i bet i'll unlock my device accidently every now and then. thats rather unlikely to happen with the slide version.

man, I don't want stock one cause it has no add-ons and I like the project of Muhammad and ur but in my opinion all the icons chould be more delicate and pro to have it clean. the first of ur projects were simple and then u added huge icons and tons of colors and it not looks so smooth now

You know, you can always just change your icon theme, just like you changed the hicolor icon theme to something more masculine, such as the AwOken Icon Theme.

I dont think only about colors so read what I wrote again. It seems would be nice to have to options: one for people who like some add-ons and clear view and second one for people who want have add-ons and big icons and a lot of colors

heheh, you are all doing great job but as community is creating it, everybody wants something different!
I would love to help out with my vision for design but i need to study now:P

What i think is in my opinion certain is one tap for everything. Why wouldnt it be secure as you need to push physical unlock button first.
Single tap is simplest and fastest.

Oh. Why put in two versions, further cluttering the repos?
IIRC MAG will add a lot of switches in gconf and possibly a configuration app to turn on/off features such as the shortcuts, media player etc.
If you want the clean lock screen, MAG's planning to push an update to enhanced-lockscreen to make it better. Grab that one and pin the package, never update it. It's likely going to be the last one of the "simple" lockscreens.

Also, you could've worded your first post less flame-y. Seriously, only a Facebook Generation teenager confuses a gradient for a rainbow, calls a mockup "homosexual" and girl-oriented (hey, you know, there are WOMEN who use the N900! yes, WOMEN!)

well I see u are not open for others opinion. I dont see anything wrong in thinking that some people would like to have simple view with add-ons.
and for ur information: it is nothing against girls or gays but only general statement when u have all of that colorfull stuff and funny icons so I dont know why u put all of that stupid Facebook Generations sth. and rainbow was a symbol only so chill out :)
I bet some of women would like to have simple ver too and trust me not all the women only think in colors man :)

I still think that first project of Muhammad was the best one if we talk about its simplicity, I would only see some more add-ons on it without huge colorfull icons, that is my opinion and u dont have to agree with it

Let's try with white icons, and let the community decide.
BTW, the dark overlays are needed, unless you like having a very bright background and struggle to find the icons.
Personally, since they will only appear when you have a notification, I'd the the icons to be colored to stand out.

Do note that it looks big on a computer monitor, and it will become smaller on the N900. The sizes are just about right.

The unlock bar will be easy to press since it's a large bar, but if you're moving around, it wouldn't be so easy to press the notification buttons. And no, using the stylus is completely against the point of finger-friendly (remember, MAG is not making this just for the N900, but also for other MeeGo Devices.)

I really like Hurrians designs, but IMHO the player buttons should be way bigger and further apart. You want to operate this screen with one hand, no stylus.
A bit of N9-ish idea: No buttons but the whole music "widget" as a slider. Slide it left or right to skip track, press to play/pause.
Also I'd vote to keep the unlock slider a slider. Double-click unlock wont work with a resistive screen (or rather would work all the time in your pocket). Since this program needs to be really fast I'd also suggest to keep it low on functions, but the huge clock is a must. Amazing work as usual, MAG!

You still need to push the power button to get to the unlock screen so having one click hould be sufficent to stop unlocking by accident?

Please cut it man. On what basis are you talking that Hurrian is not open for others opinion?? As far as I'm viewing this thread, he is constantly changing backgrounds and styles the whole day according to the community's likes and suggestions.
You on the other hand, do nothing and demand to be given what you like? Make it yourself bro. Dont put the blame on a member of the community.
As far as I saw me and everyone else in this thread including the creator of the project MAG himself likes his designs. So if you want a simple lockscreen, stick with the original one or borrow code from MAG and make it yourself as per your tastes. Afterall its opensource.

Just wondering, How can I change the default background for the Lockscreen? The current one isn't to my particular tastes.

Hi, your previous posts with the colored notifications were better and everyone loved it. And the new email notification is great too. But it would differenciate itself from the SMS icon much better if you'd use that blue color which you had initially used for the email.

everything else is perfect and I guess it satisfies almost everyone here.

i like it , for th E-mail u can use @ only with big font also for the icons
if i press SMS it will open direct as phone and e-mail , or i have to unlock

You can either kill the player with terminal or use Open Media Player (which I use daily since it has what I need) or use the homescreen widget to start playback.

Thanks. How about someplayer? Is it possible to make the app play songs that are being played by someplayer? Also, can you make it that upon pressing the play button, you can start playing songs in a particular folder or playlist?

The background is hardcoded in the first version.

As for Arabic/Urdu, blame Qt, change your region (Settings -> Regional settings) to something like the UK.

Have to say thanks but no thanks.. I installed it and lost all my icons on desktop 4 of 9, this wouldn't restore from backup so uninstall Enhanced lockscreen and all is back... so something fishy going on but Im not gonna dig into it.. ill just live without this one.

With the app installed, when the phone rings the options to Answer or Reject or obscure. Plus, you don't know who is calling until after couple of rings...

I would strongly vote for Mentalist Traceur asking of making every aspect configurable, and to NOT load disabled features into RAM / CPU usage/ whatever.

It's great idea and i would love to use it, but I'm afraid that, with all great ideas for features, we're on way to bloat it into death.

Also, we don't want our N900 to drain 100 mAh on standby, right?

Besides the clock, nothing is updated (in the sense of polling - MAFW will send metadata and status regardless of the lockscreen being active or not) when the screen's locked, so CPU usage should be 0.

As for home applets disappearing, this has nothing to do with them since it's just a window coupled with a few tricks, so it doesn't touch hildon-home.

Well, Ubuntu was able to make their own startup/login menu with about as many features as the Gnome built-in version, but without the bloatedness. So it's doable with enough effort, that much is known.

Oh, while we're at it, with regard to Hurrian's mock-ups - I like the white icons the most. Which is why I'm saying this stuff should just be integrated into the theme structure (speaking of, MohammadAG, why did you hardcode the red background into the lockscreen [if you did; I'm trusting the guy who said you did, at least, until you say otherwise]? It's available by default in most themes [I don't think many theme makers change that one from the default, and if they did, what better background to use than that?].).

Also, for a lock screen, I personally think text is better than images. But if MohammadAG wants to go the image route, I say make text and icons in the mockups, and make both toggle-able.

Look forward to trying this software. While I don't use the lockscreen often, I like the idea and the various mockups have been exciting, seeing them develop from good to terrific!

I just noticed that the volume keys' function inside the original lockscreen are tied to whatever application is foregrounded once N900 becomes unlocked. If it's just hildon-home, the volume keys control the volume as expected. However, if it's a web browser, the volume keys are changing the browser zoom from the lockscreen. Similarly, if it's the camera app, it's the camera zoom. If this new screen can play music and steal the volume keys, that will be perfect :) edit: and it does!

There's been concerns about this screen getting unlocked too easily, and solving the problem with specific tap or double tap inputs. I prefer slide methods, since they are consistent with kinetic scrolling and other single-finger drag operations the N900 already has.

One way the lockscreen could offer many features while still being consistent with the flexibility and modularity hildon-desktop offers, is by using the lock button as a slide-to-function. For instance, in order to play a song, you drag the lock to the play button, rather than simply tapping the play button outright. To review new calls or texts, slide the lock to the icon to the envelope or the phone button. To go back to the most recent app, slide the lock onto a little "most recent app" icon. To go back to hildon-home, slide the lock onto a little "home house".

One more brainstorm: the lockscreen, in its current mockups, has "number of calls/mails missed" etc. This actually duplicates much of the functionality of the task switcher and its missed call notifications. Perhaps rather than separate buttons for these items, there should simply be a single summary button for all of them that takes you to the task switcher, where the user can click the gold alert boxes for specific missed calls or emails.

Again, the premise here is to play to the strengths of the N900's existing interface. Our task switcher is so good, we don't necessarily need to reimplement functions on the lockscreen a la N9 or iPhone.
