i put the soundtrack of an ATI demo program as a ringtone on my 7650 7 or 8 years ago. used it on the 7710, on the N95 and now on the N900. to this day, whenever i get a phone call, i know it is MY phone ringing... for @#$%*&€³¤ free

It's relatively a big deal, but you're not the target audience, so why not give it a rest. We all know how Apple operates; you're not enlightening us.

no, Apple isn't a bad company.
i just like to put any ring tone on my phone i like.
and iTunes simply doesn't offer those.
furthermore there is no iTunes for Linux / GNU, thus i couldn't even put my plain dumb MP3s that i got from my CDs with soundKonverter on my phone.
thus, i guess, we have a new topic @ hand... conspiracy between Steve Jobs & Balmer to force users to have windooooz just to be able to install iTunes to update their music collections or download their pictures or movies...
unless one wants to go MacIntosh all the way, of course.
