Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
There are some Bugs :
I cant watch the photos which were taken by the camera(only after a reboot), my phone application is freezing sometimes and my tracker-cfg isnt work anymore (the media files arent updated if i add an nowatchdirectory. it could even come from battery and speedpatch) it would be great if contacts were autorotated. |

Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
How do I reinstall the last update?
I've installed it with dpkg -i but, I did not include the transitions.ini, I kept mine. However, I'd like to try the recommended transitions.ini to test the blacklist. I tried uninstalling it first, however apt-get install --reinstall hildon-desktop did not work because it says that "Reinstallation of hildon-desktop is not possible, it cannot be downloaded" Curious thing is that I know I'm connected to the internet and also, I successfully run apt-get update before. |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
How can I uninstall this hildon desktop??
# sudo apt-get install --reinstall hildon-desktop; killall hildon-desktop <- this command doesnt work! |

Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
If u installed hildon portrait desktop u can lock your phone with double tapping on the power button or using the 'lock-button' while its in portrait mode...
It would be great if someone could help me by my problem :( |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
deinstall the hildon desktop:
you can: go to xterm sudo gainroot 1. apt-get install --reinstall hildon-desktop or 2.apt-get upgrade he will ask to upgrade to the old version of hildon-desktop say YES and be happy! and by saying lock in portrait mode, i mean, "keep the screen always in portrait, always in vertical oriented, even when it is in horizontal oriented" |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode

if you did, you must type "root" first. :) after that you'll get root privileges :) |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
Yes I know that I need rootsh. :)
But I can't deinstall it! I tried everything you said... I tried this: ----------------------------------- sudo gainroot 1. apt-get install --reinstall hildon-desktop or 2.apt-get upgrade -> it doesnt ask me if i want install old hildon-desktop... ----------------------------------- root apt-get install --reinstall hildon-desktop killall hildon-desktop ------------------------------------ After this operations I rebootet my device more than 1 time and the Desktop is still rotating... I want to deinstall it because it causes problems with indexing of media files... I noticed that afer installation of hildon desktop portrait mode. |

3G calling would be the last thing I would ask for. Don't need it. I know that handwriting is nothing to do with hildon desktop. I just mentioned it, because many smart guys check this tread and I hoped to see is it even possible. |

Hildon Desktop Portrait Mode have no connection with onscreen keyboard...it the force rotation on CSSU that change your onscreen keyboard from landscape to portrait when you rotate you device to portrait mode... disable the force rotation on CSSU then try using onscreen keyboard...it will stay landscape even you rotate your device thousand times....that is proof than onscreen keyboard doesnt connected to hildon desktop portrait mode at all.... |

Just tried and it was awful. How about lockscreen? This should be connected with Hildon Desktop or I'm wrong? |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
I don't think the lockscreen is connected with hildon-deskop. At least it hasn't changed the lockscreen behaviour for me. For a portrait lockscreen look at the enhanced lockscreen package, or qtlockscreen.

|
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
Hello just wanna report I don't know how reproductable is this but.... Whenever I shutdown and boot up my device on portrait mode(switch off the device while on portrait position and switch on the device while still on portrait) my phone causes a reboot loop.
the 3 dot loading is ok the security code lock screen is ok but when it reaches hildon-desktop it blinks and fade a couple of times and then reboots. Anybody else can reproduce this? |

do you know not all apps/program is not fully compatible with portrait mode??? still you want your device stay in portrait mode all the time??? if you do then you i suggest you solder/glue or throw away your hardware keyboard cause it will be useless if you want portrait mode always...:p |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
Why blacklist, why not whitelist?
I need forced rotation only in few apps (in fact, only in FBReader), now i need to enable force rotation for everything and blacklist everything except apps i want to be rotated. And i will need to update blacklist every time i install new program. It's obvious what whitelist is better idea than blacklist. |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
whitelist is very good idea..
|
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
I think having both blacklists and whitelists is an excellent idea.
|

I too want to have fully portrait mode and only blacklist the application which does not fit in portrait!!! EDIT: what about vertical scrolling??? |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
Please correct me if i'm wrong but isit blacklist & whitelist the same things????
blacklist is use to disable force rotation in same apps/program while whitelist is use to enable force rotation in same app/program.... if you puts some apps/program likes conversations in blacklist then it wont rotate even you enable force rotations right??? so if we dont puts conversations in whitelist then it wont rotate also right??? so why need whitelist when blacklist can do the same thing on the opposite way??? what ever apps/program you put in blacklist will not rotate so anything that is not listed in the blacklist will be force rotate...the same thing with whitelist...puts everything you want to force rotate & left the rest (as you listed in blacklist) & the result will be the same.... |
Re: [Announce] Hildon desktop portrait mode
portrait lock would be nice and if we want landscape mode why not just slide the keyboard open?
|
