Hmm, the idea of supporting both blacklist and whitelist would be good idea an IMHO not very difficult to implement.

This is how is could work:
Both whitlist and blacklist will be supported. But there will be only one of those in transisition.ini. (The other one would be commented out). So, if someone has the line saying

Code:

blacklist=xxx yyy zzz

#whitelist = aaa bbb ccc

then the apps in the list will be blacklisted. And viceversa

However, if some doofus of a user has both enabled, then hildon could revert to a default of accepting only whitelist and ignoring the blacklist.

I think this way both camps can be satisfied. Opinions...?

So i need to add ~100 apps to blacklist. But only one to whitelist.

Or one list acting as whitelst or blacklist depends on forced rotation enabling.

yes i did read your post....i understand you only want one apps/program to force rotate (whitelist)...that is on your device only but what about other people???
they might want 2-3 apps/program to be blacklist so does this mean that they have to add ~ 100 apps/program to whitelist aswell???

blacklist & whitelist are almost the same...the best that i can think to have both is add include & exclude apps/program in force rotation option in CSSU features or CSSU tuner where....

include = enable force rotate
exclude = disable force rotate

you can add apps/program in the include & exclude list inside CSSU features or CSSU tuner without having to manually edit it using x-term/leafpad or etc....this is the same way as blacklist & whitelist but more simple & maybe safe....

I've just upgraded and everything went just fine. CSSU "updated" hildon-desktop portrait mode perfectly.

Hi arcean,

I'm the one asking for the option 'desktop_orientation_lock' this night on IRC after cssu update with your 'hildon-desktop' auto-rotate function.

Well, fetched the git, builded a package with version set to '2.2.142-15' to avoid repository overlap.

Installed it, applied the new gconf key (gconftool-2 --type=bool --set "/apps/osso/hildon-desktop/desktop_orientation_lock" "true"), then REBOOTED the device !!!

Tested, ok for the desktop not more rotating, all things goes well, keep u the good work !!!

How to add MPlayer in blacklist, I added sib and mplayer in blacklist, sib is locked in Landscape but mplayer is not getting lock.

I would like to the device always in portrait mode in certains situations, like when I´m driving, or laying on my bed, and blacklist will prevent the mpt compatible programs... and I dont want ALWAYS IN PORTRAIT, just in some situations!!!!!!!!

Come on, think a little, it´s a awesome idea...

SiB is locked in landscape, when we play any video file using sib it will open a new window, how to lock that window in landscape.

I used:

gconftool-2 --set /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/portrait_wallpaper -t bool true

N900 is working normal, no reboot loop.

When I try to setup a wallpaper in portrait mode, the picture is set as a wallpaper in landscape mode and I can't figure out how made it to be in portrait.

Did you restart Maemo? If not, please TURN OFF portrait wallpapers, as it MAY brick your device.

It is still recoverable, albeit a bit difficult. It took me a quick sleight of hand trying to connect to my home's Wifi with the phone and SSH'ing into it to rectify the problem (by issuing a false value to the command he gave). I managed :P

What that command did was make the Hildon desktop fail to start after a reboot... which leaves me with widgets scattered everywhere, no wallpapers (just a black background) - basically it just killed Hildon's window management, I suppose.

Hi can someone please help me even though i have latest cssu 16.8 and latest transition.ini with blacklist and whitelist and calender is added to blacklist it still rotates to portrait! i can stop calender to stop rotationg!
how do i stop this?

my phone log froze today while i was trying to bring up the keypad to push something for an automated machine i was forced to restart and am no longer able to open the calls log in portrait mode. It constantly stays in landscape. If i zoom back to desktop while having the log open in portrait the log screen in the background turns portrait but once i bring it back to view it turns back to landscape.

I tried to open an icon in the launcher with the following command (it should open the 1st icon in the launcher).

Code:

dbus-send --type=signal --session /com/nokia/hildon_desktop com.nokia.hildon_desktop.set_state int32:128

dbus-send --type=signal --session /com/nokia/hildon_desktop com.nokia.hildon_desktop.launcher_activate int32:0

And found a bug. It works only in landscape mode. In portrait mode the 2nd command doesn't work. (Actually I'm trying to make a QBW of it).

Any idea guys?

Thanks for info. Are you using hildon-desktop-portrait from this thread or from the CSSU?
Anyway, I will take a look at this on weekend.
